  1. I hate Posey, Wade, and Payton with a passion. But I don't hate them more than the Cardinals. They are definitely the team I hate the most in the NBA though. I don't watch the NBA, but why do you not like Wade? The main reason is because if you breath on him, it can be called a foul. Somebody should actually watch the NBA before coming up with a ridiculous question, and within one Heat game, that question would be answered. Wade's a classy guy, blah blah blah, but the Bulls are going to make him work for everything he gets this series. This is NOT the matchup he wanted. Okay, I don't watch the NBA on a regular basis. I think the NBA sucks, but I wasn't going to say that in this thread since it wasn't relevant. I have watched games from time to time. Personally I don't mind the Heat or Dwayne Wade. Does he get calls? Yes, but so did Michael Jordan. I suppose you didn't care that Jordan got those calls though because you were a Bulls fan. The calls Wade gets are beyond anything Michael got. I think he mentioned watching the NBA because last Finals, Wade got a foul call after hitting a fadeaway jumper and falling down literally untouched. It's almost reached a new level with him.
  2. Another close loss, another occasion where the bullpen doesn't understand that you CAN'T WALK GUYS
  3. The video only further proves how much of a dumbass Cho was. No one ever made fun of him -- people didn't even know who he was. And his plays were absolutely terrible. The fact that a guy with grammar that awful got into a major university as an English major astounds me. But no, they should not show it. At least not now, out of respect for the families of the victims.
  4. I believe that Murton is a good player, but he really needs to take pitches. Enough with the first pitch swinging crap. That's been absolutely KILLING me. Don't get me wrong, I do like Floyd, but I also want Murton to get some playing time. He's really not helping his case by swinging at the first pitch at every opportunity he gets! Patience is a big part of what makes him a valuable player.
  5. D- is average? Where did you go to school?
  6. D-??? Come on. If you're comparing her to models, then yes, her face is a D-. But she's not worse than average looking. D- and F should be reserved for the true uggos. I'm like the Senate. I give up or down votes. In other words, would I do it? You betcha. Damn right. Forget the 1-10 crap -- it's a binary system, 1 or 0. It comes down to would you, or wouldn't you
  7. You know that the Cubs front office released the video of Sosa leaving to get everyone against him, right? Sosa also said that he had permission from Baker to leave. And even if he DID leave without permission etc etc, are you really going to not let Sammy into the hall because of that? Do you think that maybe Ryno was jealous over all of the attention Sosa was getting?
  8. I don't get why this is at all funny. Someone threw a slice of pizza at a guy. So?
  9. If by worst you mean BEST! :P No, it's bad. I actually like a lot of hair metal. A couple years back I burned a 2 vol. hair metal compilation that I listened to quite a lot but Cherry Pie just grated and I kept skipping past it. It was the only song that annoyed me enough to consistently skip it. Even as kitsch it's hard to stomach. I don't know.. I still find it to be entertaining every now and then. I wouldn't ever listen to it daily, it's like Nirvana. If it comes on on the radio, I'll listen to it, but if it's on my playlist, I'm gonna skip over it. Comparing Nirvana to the likes of Warrant? Harsh.
  10. His hop seemed a little more emphatic than usual. I loved it. Go Sammy!
  11. Because these weren't willing participants in a war. That doesn't make the soldiers' deaths any less tragic. They're both tragic, but I would say that a shooting rampage in a place of academia by a student is more surprising and shocking. Not that we "expect" soldiers to die by any means, but the idea of death is much more relevant in their occupational description than that of a student.
  12. Again, nice pics. We've been at the same games so far this year. Whenever I go I usually win, so I'm blaming these two losses on you.
  13. Prove it. Also, GO SAMMY! Corks to start (I still supported him through that one, BTW). And that "prove it" nonsense is no argument at all. It essentially responds to the argument by saying "That's what you think." It ignores substantial circumstantial evidence that points to him have used substances he shouldn't have. You and I both know what I am talking about, so I won't bother repeating all of it. I was going to write something but there is obviously no point. The good thing is that you aren't biased; I mean your user name reveals you to be highly objective. Appreciate the eye roll by the way. Look, I have much love for my heros too - look at my user name. And I loved Sammy intensely for a good many years - I was there for his 60th dong in 98' and cheered my head off. But if I am going to be intellectually honest with myself I have to deal with the fact that there is evidence to indicate Sammy used performance enhancing substances. Can I show you a pic of him shooting up? Of course not. But I can show you: - That he was substantially bigger prior to the Congressional hearings. - That his performance and skills eroded incredibly quickly thereafter - That he was incredibly smaller when he first came up with the Rangers and Sox. - That he dodged and refused to meet head-on Rick Reilly's arrogant attempts at cornering him. - That he all of a sudden couldn't understand english when Congress wanted to ask him questions about the issue. - Etc., etc. It doesn't make me happy to feel this way, but I can't ignore it either. All of the things you mention are very circumstancial as evidence and there are reasons why they could have occurred other than steriod use. -For example, many players get bigger as they progress in their careers -Sammy's speaks English, but may not have felt 100% comfortable speaking under oath in case of a language slip up. I mean, the guy can get something across, but his grammar is nowhere near stellar and I'm sure his vocab could use some help esp in a Congressional hearing. Besides, it's not like when you speak through an interpreter you can just lie or something. You still have to answer the questions. -His performance drop could also be tied to his beaning incident, whereafter Sosa backed way off of the plate. He also had some serious toe problems which affect balance dramatically. Of all of the guys who are and have been targeted for steriod usage, Sosa really has the least on him. He didn't lie to Congress, he didn't plead the 5th to dodge questions, he doesn't have witnesses stating that they saw him use or injected him with steroids, he never tested negative, he never was found in posession of steriods, etc. etc. In everything else, we assume innocence and yet in the case of steriod abuse, we're choosing to assume guilt. Show me the same evidence that we have against guys like Canseco (admitted), Palmiero (failed test), Bonds (witnesses, BALCO), Giambi (admitted, BALCO), McGwire (witnesses, plead 5th), Sheffield (BALCO, admitted he used it "unknowingly"), etc etc and I'll buy into Sosa as a juicer, but until we have any such thing, he's just a homerun hitter who thrived in the late 90s.
  14. AHAHAHA nice job
  15. He's going to sit out one game and he'll most likely never walk to the dugout before a ball is caught ever again. I don't think that's really a bad tradeoff considering the fact that one of the times he doesn't leg it out, the ball could be dropped and really screw things up for the team.
  16. ETA: In the long run, Murton has to worry more about Soriano moving to LF than anyone else. I think we all know who wins that fight. Because it was a liner, he took a few steps back before realizing that he'd have to move up. If he dove I think he would've been able to catch it -- there was just very little margin for error. I think he would've had to run full out with a good jump (or take a risky dive) in order for him to make the play.
  17. Nice photos! My camera's not that great and mine turned out absolutely horribly. The crowd was in a great mood though, for the most part. Rothschild got booed.
  18. The most frustrating thing is putting theriot in the game in a situation where murton's patience would really help out. Today's game drove me nuts -- he put in theriot, who couldn't even lay down a sac bunt, and then took out derosa, who had been one of our hottest hitters. I like theriot, but I don't think he's a go-to guy off the bench by any means.
  19. Ernie Banks is making a comeback? WHER!? Banks: .274/.330/.500 (avg/obp/slg) Sammy: .274/.345/.537 ( " " ) Banks: 512 HR Sammy: 589 HR Sosa edges Banks..not by much..but he does. Sosa: Proven cheater Banks : Not Don't even compare the two. Ridiculous He was caught using a corked bat once. The bats he had in the hall of fame were tested and were corkless. AND physics proves that corked bats really don't help performance. Did he cheat? Yes. But that doesn't make him a lesser player thank Banks. Even if he's NOT better than Banks, why is it such a crime we're excited that the "second-best" offensive player in Cubs history, who was for many years a Chicago icon, is making a comeback? We're in this threat to talk about Sammy's comeback, not your unfounded hatred for him. If you want to compare him to the other Cubs' greats, I suggest we make a new topic for that purpose.
