  1. "Chicago's BASEBALL station -- 670 the Score!"
  2. They just demoted him. You could get him for a good arm and a bullpen arm. They did? I think so. I thought I read that somewhere. OMG LIAR! Lock the thread!
  3. They just demoted him. You could get him for a good arm and a bullpen arm. Why did they demote him? Why isn't this deal done?
  4. Only 59 ABs, but vs lefties this year: .339/.388/.593 101 ABs last year: .297/.438/.614 I have a feeling they'd ask a lot for him
  5. So this morning on Waddle and Silvy (ESPN 1000), Silverman was talking about how dumb Hendry was for not wanting to trade Pie. "I mean, I'd do Pie for Torii Hunter, straight-up. Who cares if he's gone after the season -- we need to win now!" later... "Will the Cedeno/Murton fans just shut up? These guys are done. They're not the future. Sure Murton hit .297 last year but he's got no fundamentals. He can't throw, he doesn't run well, and he doesn't hit for power!" I picked up the phone to call but decided it wasn't worth it.
  6. I've decided to just go ahead and log in. The idea of not logging in because posting would distract me too much at work has just distracted me. Anyone wanna do the hidden pictures in Hilights?
  7. What is CSN+? I have comcast but I can't find the damn thing...
  8. Can we get a story? When I'm not in the office, yes. Hahaha you know how that goes... I'll be anxiously awaiting this one. Jeez, a lot of pressure here. I'll have to work on this one -- I'm definitely more of a story teller than a story writer. Maybe I could submit a video. Hand motions/mannerisms help in this one

  10. Yes. Not only did it work, it was absolutely HILLARIOUS.
  11. What number is he going to wear? DUM DUM DUMMMMMMMMM
  12. Racist. you're kidding, right? You're kidding (about me kidding), right? Are you kidding? you've got to be kidding me

  14. i agree that that's the way it is in sports. but i don't care -- it's not the way it should be. if one of your players is cheating, endangering his health, hurting The Game's integrity, and becoming a media slideshow/distraction, you do something about it, dammit. To say that he's not "a babysitter" is a condescending BS cop-out. You're the boss, as a manager. The team/league has rules and reputations to be upheld. In the clubhouse and on the field, YOU are the authority. Bonds' ego (or anyone else's for the matter) is no reason not to hold him to the game's standard. Do these managers, Baker in particular, really think that they are earning millions of dollars to decide what order the hitters follow, and when to steal a base? Manage the team, and have a little integrity in doing so, please. Oh I completely agree. I just think it's a heck of a lot easier for you and I to say that now, not under the overwhelming pressure to win, manage a clubhouse, keep your job, etc. When I said "babysitter" I was thinking more along the lines of what Dusty alluded to. We don't know where Barry took steroids (or TECHNICALLY if he took them at all) -- especially when Dusty was with SF. And lets say it wasn't in the clubhouse -- Barry's useage was restricted to his home. Dusty sees Barry getting bigger: "Hey Barry, you're looking big" "[silence]" "What are you taking? Anything? I wish I could've built muscle like that when I was playin'" "Nothing. Just some supplements, conditioning and working out hard" Now what is Dusty supposed to say? How much can he press the issue? Should he have pre-emptively told someone in the Giants organization? The GM? The media? What if he's wrong? Does he end up losing his job? It's a much different situation than a high school or college player-coach relationship or even a seasoned manager in the bigs with a rookie. I'm not saying we should let him off the hook, but there's plenty of blame to go around and Dusty doesn't shoulder even close to most of it. It's much more difficult than you or I could imagine.
  15. I understand the logic for being against Cicotte and Jackson given that what they did occurred on the field, but Rose's issue didn't occur as a player, but as a manager. That's a point I respect. However, emotions aside, I don't see why the guy gets a free pass. There's not a lot of room for interpretations. The rule says that if you bet on baseball, you can't be in the Hall of Fame. Pete Rose bet on baseball. Therefore, Pete Rose cannot be in the Hall of Fame. I do agree with the assertion that the fact we're discussing them as some of the greatest players ever gives them enough respect. Everyone knows that they would have been in a long time ago if it wasn't for their actions. No one will forget how good they were just as no one will forget the baseball crimes they committed. They are given respect, but putting them in the hall, imo, somewhat validates the wrongs they committed.
  16. I actually don't think Dusty sounded that bad. He had a point. He's really not a babysitter or anything. I'm sure it was uncomfortable if anything all-around for him managing Bonds for various reasons
  17. None. They broke rules that said they couldn't be in the hall. No one denies that they're some of the best players ever -- they just can't have the honor of being in the hall.
  18. I'd like to say that this Morgan-lying incident surprised me. He's just beyond annoying
  19. I don't know what's up with Kendall. I always liked his playing abilities and he always seemed to kill us when with PIT. I wonder what has gone wrong this year
  20. I agree. Fortunately, the trend is starting to shift as New York State has banned the use of metal bats in High School play recently. Baseball is meant to be played with wood bats. Yeah, but won't this hurt high school baseball there? I doubt that the inner city schools can pay for all of the wood bats the team will go through during a season. How much do wood bats cost? I thought they were in the $30 dollar range... Would it really make that much of a difference? of course it would. Did you forget that wood bats break? Well, it depends on how often they break and how much they're paying for the aluminum bats. You'd also have to know what kind of budget (on average) the schools, teams, and kids are working on to see how much of an effect it'd have. You really didn't have to interrupt my honest question with a worthless post that needlessly condescends.
  21. Hahaha I love to hate reading wildly speculative reports. It's just funny because everyone could be telling the truth, but not everyone's hearing it -- it's just a huge game of telephone. But seriously, I'll cry if it's true.

  23. Because we need power in the OF! Floyd's slugging has been well below par, yes. However, he is more likely to display power than Murton is, and even if Murton were to be called up, they'd be platooning anyway. Again, I'd rather have DeRosa in RF vs LHP than Murton. Murton's a good player... we just don't have a place for him right now. JJ and Pagan aren't great, but they can play CF as well as right. We can't move JJ, and Pagan has done better than Pie. Our hands are kind of tied there.
