  1. Great for drinks and ambiance. Tacos are just ok.
  2. I mean, we pretty much did that for Lester, so... ETA and Ohtani last season.
  3. These are all great recommendations. On Au Cheval, if you want their burger and don't require an egg on it, you can hit up Small Cheval, which has more than 1 location and typically doesn't have lines.
  4. The W Lakeshore is excellent. They recently renovated the entire thing. Most of Chicago’s hotels are either in the Loop or Streeterville, the latter of which is where this W is. The surrounding area tends to be quieter at night but it’s close to a lot of the bigger attractions for visitors. If the weather isn’t too bad, you can easily have a nice, scenic walk to the convention. Staying there, you’ll be tempted by two things, which I recommend avoiding: 1. Visiting Navy Pier — it’s fine if you must, but know it’s a tourist trap 2. Eating at a subpar restaurant — there are a lot of B- places in Streeterville since it’s where the hotels are when you can get to some great ones with a short Uber or bus ride. Check online reviews and you should be fine.
  5. The Cubs have been weirdly coy about not being able to announce anything with the staff. They knew this was coming or forced the personal reason to let Hickey save face.
  6. Lester has been on Just One Bite or whatever it's called and he and pizza are both fine.
  7. Tons of good NY and New Haven-style places here. New HAven pizza??? Check out Piece next time you're in Chicago.
  8. I didn't love Art of Pizza when I tried it, but do enjoy Jet's, which is exceptional for a chain. Pizano's is one of my favorites for deep dish and I also enjoy My Pi in Bucktown. Chicago thin crust is a gift to our fair city as well. We don't have to choose.
  9. I don't think that's true.
  10. Defending Giordano's might actually be your worst take somehow.
  11. That's a huge bummer, but the elevator will certainly be welcomed by my elderly relatives. Did they end up scrapping the idea of opening the "outer" half of the upper deck? Initially, they'd planned on extending the concourse to the roof to double bathrooms and concessions but haven't heard much about that. Did not scrap it according to todays news. Will be ready by May 2019 Awesome!

  13. Please explain this. based off of twitter, it seems a lot of chicago sports radio talk is saying parkey didn't want to spend the extra time driving into soldier field to practice a couple times a week. In earnest?
  14. smart plan. hopefully, he doesn't get stuck in the traffic and miss his appointments. Please explain this.
  15. ".... just real limitations, which in our case is $246 million," Epstein cracked.
  16. He also implied that the Cubs winning one WS in this stretch would make them similar to the 2005 White Sox, which made no sense.
  17. The staff suddenly becomes intriguing with the rotation now set at Hendricks, Yu, Lester, Q, and Hamels. The pen dynamic is... interesting even before considering guys like Webster, Maples, Mekkes, and Alozay. Late inning/firemen Morrow (9) Strop (6.25) Cishek (6.5) CJ (arb) Swing/spot starters Monty (arb) Chatwood (12.5) Garbage time/earlier options: Kintzler (5) Duensing (3.5) Spelled out like this, I'd have to imagine that 2-3 guys are going to be on the move.
  18. I think it’s $7m Smyly makes 5 million. Where are you seeing that?
  19. [tweet] [/tweet] 8-9 years is a long time, but I can't believe how mature he seems. #nee
  20. Northwestern is 12-1 in its last 13 conference games. The one loss was the blown lead to Michigan this season. I approve.
  21. That is so cool.
  22. That feels like a million years ago and at the same time, like yesterday.
