  1. It might feel crazy because the end of the deal is a year from now lol i'm saying it feels crazy because he's entering the final year of the deal I know, I was just joking.
  2. Heyward hurt his wrist in between the 2015 and 2016 seasons? He also funked his shoulder up in Atlanta and his swing has never looked the same. The cardinals season was a flukish BA, a home run off arrieta and defensive efficiency he won’t approach anymore admit he ages. He’s a 2 WAR guy who might get to 3 with BABIP luck since he doesn’t strike out. You're acting like he didn't have a great season the year before or any time before his STL season. I'm obviously not bullish on Heyward moving forward (which sucks, because I was a huge fan of signing him) but it's not like the Cubs were the only team who thought he'd be good.

  4. Anyone want to guess who that was? Seems like Edwards but what do I know
  5. Yup and sure it’s more than Joe, it’s the amenities, character of the players here and the FO’s doings as well but they’ve trusted Joe to guide and oversee it all. The wrong manager with all this still could make it a spot guys don’t want to be. It's not hard to find a manager that players like; players have mostly loved playing for Dusty over the years, so I think it's overstating things to think that Joe is special in regards to creating an environment that draws players in, or makes them want to stick around. I think it was obviously the right move to do what they did to get Joe given the collection of players they had in the stages of their careers they were in, but at this point I'm not really worried about whether they have the right guy for the party planning committee. His approach to the Russell situation is garbage, his constant lineup tweaking is practically useless besides an ongoing exercise in too clever for the room wankery, he can't manage a bullpen, and his input in putting together a coaching staff is beyond suspect at this point. I have zero problem with them going with someone else; I'm confident they wouldn't go with some kind of meatball, regressive dork or a Girardi-like hardass. Try for a new approach to try and better maximize what they have. The guys who gushed over Dusty were veterans and many past-their-prime guys who got a ton of playing time. Let’s not understate how many positive reviews Joe gets from the entire 25-man roster.
  6. Was this a now or never thing for Hendricks? If not it’s kinda weird.
  7. Hamels and Mills are already on there. ETA, and Monty, of course.
  8. FWIW, he said IMO, FYI LOL, YMMV. In all seriousness, I missed that. Given that it's his opinion, it's almost certainly wrong.
  9. Rogers just tweeted that Murphy and Rizzo are the only LHH in the lineup today. My guess Murphy 2B Zo RF Javy SS Rizzo 1B Kris LF Bert CF Bote 3B Lester P Willy C
  10. Yeah he was full-out Cubs Q. The only reason the PC was low was because he was giving up ropes early in the count that we’re going right to guys still joe is trash and i hope he has a bad night I really don't think today was on Joe.
  11. our offense is so hot and cold that this seems like a pretty good outcome? Lefty on short rest in his first-ever big game against a team that just got their cold game out of their system and is loaded with experience. Wait until you see his soft contact rates -- you're going to love the Cubs facing this guy.
  12. You split 10s, don't you. Probability that can be mathematically measured != takes filtered through fan biases Hey, I'm the guy who was mad at Joe for how we used Chapman at the end of the 2016 WS when everyone was talking about results over process. It wasn't biased to say that the Cubs were likely going to win the division up until the very end based on all of the information that we had on hand. That it took Milwaukee winning 8 straight to close the season to win it is even more evidence of that. If that makes my take stupid, so be it.
  13. You do realize that the Brewers won the division by 1 game and closed the season with 8 in a row, right? You were whining about amazing they were long before they pulled off an extremely improbable end to the season. Kudos to Milwaukee for pulling it off, but the hubris was always based on probability. It sucks for us that this is how the division was lost but your warnings in mid-July were still dumb. God this is the stupidest, most NSBB take and I'm surprised even more people aren't in on it. You split 10s, don't you.
  14. Yeah, that sums up the 2018 regular season perfectly. It was frustrating and mind-boggling and the Brewers played much better than anyone would have thought. i tried to warn you idiots but noooo "lol schoop what is stearns thinking lol the brewers are trash lol look at the run differential" anyway all we have to do is beat colorado* (please be colorado) tomorrow and everything is essentially fine. sucks watching the brewers win on your field in a game you didn't even really need to play but whatever, just win one game and our {entering david mode} win probability for the playoffs or whatever is not meaningfully different than it would have been had we won today. Plus lester is going You do realize that the Brewers won the division by 1 game and closed the season with 8 in a row, right? You were whining about amazing they were long before they pulled off an extremely improbable end to the season. Kudos to Milwaukee for pulling it off, but the hubris was always based on probability. 15. They’re playing better right now/last month but they aren’t much better and aren’t better long term. But if you want to think that go for it. there it is No one was saying that the Cubs would be a lock to win the division if the Brewers won 96 games. Milwaukee drastically outperformed their projections -- kudos to them.
  16. We won 95 games despite dealing with a bevy of injuries and a travel schedule from hell. I'm sure we'll be fine.
  17. Is it weird to be Jesse Chavez for Halloween or nah
  18. What the horsefeathers is wrong with you guys
