Same here. Buy low sell high. Can't let a 34 year old (I think) solid 2B (even if he's a nice guy) get in the middle of aqcuiring a young and locked up ace. If it's Vitters or DeRo, well, sorry DeRo.

rosenthal might have updated that blog unless I didn't see yesterday. He has one cubs source saying that while deros name has come up, so has around 20 others.

That's not quite what Towers said. http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/1077 He basically said if "progress" wasn't made by the end of the meetings, he'd have to stop the talks. There is nothing serious going on yet between these two teams. I'm blogging like a crazy man, if you want to stop by at the Daily Herald. I'll do the best I can to check in here. Towers kind of contradicts himself, because he already says progress has been made: Now this ESPN thing goes with what Bruce said:

SOB. Why did Hendry disclose that? I would think he would only disclose it if it was going to be a major issue, which means our top prospect and best trade chip is tarnished. I'm sure other teams knew about it too already (considering he missed a month or two I believe), but i'm still not convinced it's enough to holdup anything. Bruce didn't make it sound like a big deal in his article, and went on to say that it just may mean that the third team is needed or that we have to tweak something. Which would be friggin sweet if we didn't have to give up Josh.

And I don't buy the "we have to wait to get approval from ownership" BS. If Kenney has already said and implied how high the payroll is going to be, they obviously know the amount. I don't see why they need approval from anyone if they already have gotten approval on the overall budget.

It seems like signing a Bradley or Abreu kind of guy would really improve our offense, but considering the OPS that Edmonds gave us last year, it's probably not going to improve us from last years numbers by a whole bunch is it? I think the potential Peavy from Marquis upgrade would be what really gives us that improvement. -
