  2. New thread? Edit: Direct link to a Brief Transcript of the Negotiations (robble robble gimme Garza) Direct link to Gammons dissing the Cubs farm system Direct link to the official announcement on page 226! 3. At this point, i'm sure the Red Sox have granted permission and Theo has or is in the process of interviewing and deciding with his family. I don't buy that just because he interviewed, he's a lock to come though. I think he's genuinely gathering information and taking time to make a decision. The Red Sox wouldn't be postponing their coaching search or waiting this long to simply deny things if they haven't granted permission. I think it's pretty clear that the first news we'll hear will be that Theo is GM or not, not whether or not the Red Sox have granted permission.
  4. Olney interview: Mike and Mike said 30 seconds left, tell us what you know. Here's all he said, which wasn't much, word for word: "Here's what we know, bottom line. The Red Sox are not putting a stop to this, Theo Epstein is not putting a stop to this, nobody is saying it's not going to happen, I think if he get's the right offer he's going to go." Pretty much nothing.

  6. Something tells me this is a peice of bad journalism since this news would deserve it's own article as opposed to being stuffed at the bottom of the purple shirt story, but: http://www.csnne.com/10/09/11/Epstein-spotted-in-Chicago----or-was-he/landing_redsox.html?blockID=574594&feedID=3947&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

  8. From the PSD insider who's money. Not sure if he's guessing or knows something, but he knows everyone around PSD takes his word as gospel, so I would imagine it's somewhat more than just a wild guess. On a side note, Hahn referring to FIP made me happy:
  9. It should be noted the same article also says:
  10. Don't know where to put it, but the insider on PSD mentioned that Simpson was pitching with some sort of fracture in his elbow this year.

  14. This is a pretty good article if you want to read an optimistic view of the situation. Fleita basically says he wouldn't care if the new GM demotes him, he just wants to be in the organization. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-0909-haugh-cubs-chicago--20110909,0,3111027.column
  15. I've had the McCutchen comparison (with more K's) in my mind for awhile now. Maybe a little lower on the average but it's possible IMO.
  16. I don't know much about this Buxton kid but i've definitely read that he's rising fast (if that's possible this early in the process) on some forums.
  17. BJax 1/2 (double) with 2 BB's. 3 runs scored.

  20. Random tidbit from "ggros" on the PSD boards:
  21. At least Baez had 2 doubles. Vogelbach 1/3 with a double. Amaya 3/4. Jenson and Scott each with 2 scoreless. I'm thinking we could have found another McNuttesque steal with Jenson (though it's obviously early, and Arizona. But based off of stuff).
  22. There's a lot of teams jammed in there, but with the Orioles recent surge the Cubs are only 2 back of the second pick.
  23. My random guess would be that the updaters get the weekends off.
  24. Wouldn't be surprised to see Giolito pass Mccullers on the prep side before it's all said and done. Not that I don't necessarily like Mccullers, just that I really like Giolito.
