  1. Have you checked out Mike Olt's statline this year? lol. But it's still realllly early. It keeps being said, but it's the truth. At this point in the game, if Baez were to go on a 6/6 stretch like Soler, he'd be hitting in the mid .270's and showing good power in a league hes young for. And you know hes got a few streaks in him at some point.
  2. He's 1/2 with a BB in game 2 so far, i'll take it regardless of the D.
  3. Gray with 5 scoreless on 3 hits and 3 K's so far. 1 walk 2 HBP. Facing #22 K-State.
  4. I've ridden the Kris Bryant high for a week or so, but I think i'm back at Appel/Gray. Contact/hit tool issue scares me a bit much given his average bat speed. Scared that it will get worse facing consistent lower-mid 90's pitching. Edit: I kinda wish we could watch a lot more of him, like we can with Appel and Gray, cause sometimes I feel a little silly making claims based solely off statistics and others opinions. Just saw this popup by the way:
  5. No Baez tonight, and if I look up one more time to see Krist, Andreoli, and Geiger accounting for all of Daytona's hits i'm going to puke.
  6. I have a feeling Stanek falls to the cards and he becomes their next Shelby, pixie dust and all.
  7. Pitching is just funny sometimes, it wasn't long ago when he was getting lit up in triple A.
  8. Bryant's 1-4 so far tonight, but it sounds like 2 of his outs were bullets to the warning track.
  9. Somebody a while back asked how many IBB's Bryant had, and I read on a forum (so I can't vouch for accuracy) that it was 18. That would put his BB:K much closer to 1:1 if we subtracted them out.
  10. that would be the correct way And all this time I thought it was da Jesus.
  11. http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/kapman/sources-expect-cubs-spend-next-winter Good to hear, but i'd take Choo over Ellsbury.
  12. Stats still count and they finish it? Or they start over? My guess is since they said suspended, they'll pick up from there. Just a guess though.
  13. Miguel Sano's at .391/.470/.748 with 10 homers. Buxton's at .368/.485/.632 with 13 steals and more BB's than K's. With the 4th pick coming up as well, Twin fans should be pretty stoked right now.
  14. Don't really see the upside of taking Frazier over Bryant if we go the hitting route. I love Frazier, but the plate discipline concerns are pretty serious. You have none of those concerns with Bryant, plus the fact that it's against much better competition, plus the fact that Bryant's power potential is likely higher and at worst on par, plus the fact that Bryant has a legit shot to stick at 3rd, plus..... you get the point. Maybe the plate discipline issues won't be a big factor going forward, but it just seems like a risk that doesn't need to be taken when selecting 2. This coming from the Frazier bandwagon driver of a few month ago. Assuming an Appel/Gray/Bryant top 3, I don't see how the Twins could pass on him at 4 though. A Buxton/Frazier/Sano trio would be pretty ridiculous.
  15. On a side note, I should probably update my draft day Josh Vitters / Jay Jackson avatar/sig combo any day now.
  16. Yikes. This guy says Frazier is the best player in the draft and says so matter-of-factly. Also says being a prep position player is one of the reasons he won't go 1.1. Yeesh. I'm willing to look past everything he says if the Cubs do in fact have the 21st overall pick as well, like he shows. Am I missing something? He has Tampa with the 21st pick. I see it showing a Cubs logo. He talks about the Rays though, so it's an obvious error. But i'll still take the pick.
  17. Bryant's coach has quickly backed off the outfield talk and is now talking him up at 3rd again: Might as well take long walks down the beach with him as well. Fluff: http://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/article/2013-05-09/all-tools Speaking of recent Frazier love, this guys definitely on the bandwagon. His pitching scouting reports are actually fairly good reads. He does have the hit tool fairly low. http://baseballprospectnation.com/2013/04/26/scouting-report-clint-frazier-of/

  20. Does anyone think we should be reading into Bryant's "low" average of .333 (after a 3-5 day), or is it pretty much a product of him not getting much to hit and always being pitched around? Wish we could find some BABIP info on him, but I doubt it. It's obviously not like the rest of his slash line is lacking of course.
