  1. Posted around an hourish ago. I don't know if he's speculating based on rumors, but he says talks with all of the Orioles are intensifing: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=winter_meetings
  2. What stats do you use to determine that though? Orioles offensive numbers, league offensive numbers?
  3. Don't know where to put this but Kaplan played a soundbite of Lou tonight: "Jim told me i'll be a very happy man by Christmas"
  4. I'm down. Angels get to keep Kendrick, they're probably down. Up to the Orioles, and I think they would be down. But logical things like this don't happen in baseball... PS- Unless we're clearing up more space, teams are eating a portion of the contract, or the payroll is closer to the 125-130 range, I doubt we afford ALL of this.
  5. Not to take anything away from Felix, but get on base. Chone was the 10th best AL player in OBP. Felix likely won't touch that (even talking career wise). If we are dead set on going for it all now, I wouldn't completely object to it. He's going to be the better offensive centerfielder (assuming he plays a legit CF, I really couldn't tell you) in terms of the upcoming season and is still only 29. Plus we're really high on Colvin. I can see the reasons, although I admittedly don't know if I would do it. I guess it also depends alot on if you think Chone can put up similiar numbers coming off an above average season like Derosa did, or if he'll go way back down. Edit-- A little late on the response.
  6. I've been trying to get on their the last couple of days but you now have to be a member. Any of their insiders saying anything? Nothing really. Of course, the consensus there is that they want Hill + Pie for Roberts. If it's Gallagher, they want Gallagher + Pie + Patterson. I've learned since reading that board, that they expect a lot for their players. For what reason do you have an account on an Orioles message board? A couple of legit insiders post there.

  8. As i've said earlier in this thread, the O's really don't have anyone good (yet alone young) in LF. Murton makes sense. BTW, I don't like the way this is put as a "three player deal". I interpret it as us trading 3 players, but Rotoworld assumes it as us giving up 2 players and Roberts counting as the 3rd player. Could be either.
  9. Rotoworld was speculating that it was EPatt & Hill or Felix Pie & Sean Marshall/Sean Gallagher Yeah, but that is just pure speculation from whoever posted it. It's not like they know anything legit.
  10. I just hope Angelos doesn't nix anything with Roberts like he supposedly done in the past (assuming we aren't getting raped).
  11. Epatt is probably involved too if I had to guess. No room for him in center, we'd be getting a 2b, below average O for a corner OF, and IMO Tony Thomas can become just as good a prospect by the time we are looking for 2B prospects again.
  12. Jeebus please! This would be my ideal (well at least realistically ideal) scenario to land Roberts and Fukudome, please Jim please. However (not saying I agree), the Cubs would IMO almost certainly not bat them 1-2. We like to spread our lefties out. Of course, no Hill though. I'd try not to include Gallagher, but i'd budge if it was neccessary.
  13. If they'll take one, then sure. But if both is needed, i'll make that deal for a young CF/RF who had a .922 OPS in his first season in the majors.
  14. And he would be tough to land because....
  15. http://wintermeetings.mlblogs.com/nashvilleconfidential/2007/12/nothing_close_o.html Prior/Marshall for Hamilton, please.
  16. Not yet. I'll find out by 5:30 when we meet with Jim. I've put in calls about the White Sox on this matter, too. The Tigers gave them a little ouchie yesterday. Speaking of your 5:30 meeting with Jim, isn't it about time for the obligatory yearly announcement that Hendry has postponed his scheduled meeting with the media, leading to rampant speculation? That's always one of my favorite December traditions. Excellent tradition. What was the reasoning for the last postponment?
  17. Oh, I thought you were going to say the Cubs owed the Reds a favor for hiring Dusty. 8-) Actually, I had a nice little chat with Dusty today. The Cubs claim they haven't talked to the Reds about Hamilton. I do know that Lou likes him and got excited when he heard he might be available. Hopefully Lou lets Jim know this. It makes oodles of sense. Oodles.
