  1. that's true, it's still better than Youkilis #1
  2. maybe not, since he'll be unable to beat on his personal piñata Mármol
  3. its the dh
  4. eh, Morneau was 16th in WPA and Youk was 37th, which factored in some and speaking of WPA, i know it's not a be-all-end-all stat and has flaws but ARod barely had a positive total. for shame IMB for shame... something funny is I think I saw was that Christian Guzman had a higher VORP than Morneau btw
  5. GAH DEFEND THIS MADNESS POST HASTE
  6. NL MVP: 1 Pujols 2 Manny 3 Berkman 4 Hanley 5 Holliday 6 Wright 7 Beltran 8 Chipper 9 Howard 10 Aramis NL CY: 1 Lincecum 2 Webb 3 CC NL ROY: 1 Soto 2 Votto 3 Jurjjens AL MVP: 1 Mauer 2 Quentin 3 Pedroia 4 Sizemore 5 Hamilton 6 Morneau 7 Pena 8 Cabrera 9 Granderson 10 Youkilis i guess AL CY: 1 Lee 2 Halladay 3 Erv Santana AL ROY: 1 Longoria 2 Alex Ramirez 3 Galarragga Lou and Maddon for MOY, dunno who deserves 2 & 3
  7. another fun fact Soriano had more BBs than Braun in 160 fewer PA
  8. If you had made this evaluation a month ago, Ramirez was right where Braun is now(to speak nothing of where Braun was a month ago, or of the fact that Ramirez has done this for the four previous seasons). But Braun is a "middle of the order beast" and Ramirez isn't? yes, because ryan braun is a better hitter than aramis ramirez. I give up then. so i was curious how everything fared out at the end of the season Player OPS+ EqA VORP wOBA Ramirez 130 .297 44.6 .375 Braun 127 .294 43.5 .367 interesting since most would probably perceive Braun had the better year without looking into the numbers, but Ramirez clearly had the better offensive season of the two good call on TT's part for sure
  9. anybody but the Red Sox; their top 3 is better than ours imo
  10. Coors helps some, but a player should be penalized for taking advantage of his home park far better than the rest of his team does? that's just lazy and wrong and it's better anyways if sportswriters pay little attention to FRAR
  11. the Cowboys are still tops in that division for sure
  12. because he's a hideous monster with a dumb fan chant
  13. i'm mos def takin Yao with first pick
  14. and Dubois also struck out twice as often not a very good example
  15. ok so perhaps you'd prefer his past 2 seasons worth of ABs in Iowa, 153 games, as a sufficient sample .340/.378/.649 58 doubles 41 HR 173 RBI MLE of .901 OPS
  16. that doesn't make any sense at all
  17. your friend is dead wrong, he's not going anywhere
  18. yeah he should, especially since the Twins are the dumbest org in pro sports
  19. yeah its just 350 PA but Shin-Shoo Choo has a higher OPS than Holliday, Dave Wright, Morneau, Miguel Cabrera, Hamilton, Utley
  20. i dare you guys to look at the Cardinals lineup today worse than 2girls1cup imo
  21. K rate 2004 - 24.7% 2005 - 20.7% 2006 - 20.8% 2007 - 16.1% 2008 - 14.9% i've been glad to see he's consistently cut down on his Ks each year while actually improving his slugging as well overall did i mention he's a great CF? GIVE POOR GUY A CHANCE ALREADY
  22. Felix represents enough of a massive defensive upgrade from Edmonds to bridge the gap (somewhat) in offensive output. I have little doubt that Fukudome improves considerably next year which also will help duplicate this years success for the team. As for Gomez, he's closing out the season well with 800+ September OPS after a brutal summer stretch. He won't, but should get GG consideration. Expect him to improve by a decent amount next year. /Gomez apologistism
  23. 101 K in 421 PA is fine for a 21 yo in the majors who's slugging .490 in the second half
  24. eh i just took a couple minutes and ran it in excel FirstInning does it but just for last year
  25. there's only 8 SS in the AL?
