  1. the first one, though Zobrist does have an insane split at 2B (.331/.416/.522)
  2. a league MVP with the worst qualified walk rate would be really funny it also goes a little unnoticed, but having Baez available to play 20% of your SS innings like he has, instead of needing to roster Mike Freeman/Tyler Saladino types makes the team so much better
  3. in the last calendar year Jose Ramirez has 99 XBH and 72 K, pushing 10 WAR so i'll say him similarly, in that span JD Martinez has 56 HR & 142 RBI
  4. Michigan blogger made a series of posts trying to forecast '22 roster, some humorous bits throughout https://mgoblog.com/content/usa-2022-attackers https://mgoblog.com/content/usa-2022-midfield https://mgoblog.com/content/usa-2022-defense-goalie-guess
  5. well yeah sure unless 'people' is AJ Preller 3.77, hm that's serviceable i guess oh...that's his whip??
  6. well yeah sure unless 'people' is AJ Preller
  7. i don't hate #2, but #3 is funny "here's what i would do: nothing different!"
  8. cool stat, Bryce Harper would not crack the top 9 hitters on our roster for fWAR rn
  9. everyone loves milkshake duck!
  10. i 100% want this
  11. i think Happ has to be viewed similarly to a top-10 hitting prospect, at the very least he's not yet 24 but totaled roughly a full-season worth of AB, and with that has 100 R, 35 HR, 94 RBI, 12 SB & .255/.350/.490 (3.3 WAR) as a switch-hitter and is average or better at 4-5 positions he's played who in the minors honestly profiles better than an established ~850 OPS middle of the diamond defender? yeah i'll take Soto, Acuna, Baby Vlad, but are you really going to bet on Bo Bichette/Eloy/Adames to blow that out of the water? Happ's a headliner probably on par with what any other team will reasonably offer imo edit: lol n/m somebody made this exact point i see now
  12. this was more of a hot take a week ago, but i think he's the rightful 1st half MVP and it's somewhat crazy to consider especially in today's game when he has just single-digit unintentional BBs
  13. Tied after today in fWAR. And I still think Javy isn't valued properly defensively because of his Javy Tags and other ridiculous plays like the Puig DP the other day. Yeah, I don't understand why he doesn't accrue more value on defense. He definitely passes the eye test and most baseball scouts/execs believe he's excellent defensively. I really think the gulf between Russell and Baez on defense is overstated and not that large. he probably deserves a few runs that are credited to Contreras for CS (and possibly Schwarber's OF assists? do IF get any credit for relay throws there?) haha yeah this was such a treat, Rod Allen spends the whole AB saying "i'd be careful about throwing over to first here" and waxes poetic about Javy's baserunning and the time he stole home on Matz, talking about nothing else but warning against a steal of home and then Baez promptly does just that and Allen goes silent for a brief moment as if he were throwing up his hands
  14. where would Bote place on these lists?
  15. there were quotes after the draft that the FO didn't just want to draft A[l]mora, they "wanted to adopt him" or something or other, makes it hard to believe they'd find common ground with another org. on his true value
  16. It has to be either Babe Aguilar or Babe Muncy, right? correct; more HR than Harper, too Indians DFA'd him and gave Edwin Encarnacion $65M (possibly in reverse order), to be barely replacement level this year- and they're a very smart team! Stearns seems like he might be one of the best in the game
  17. can anyone guess the current NL leader in SLG hint
  18. one more minor point: Almora has slightly better sprint speed than Happ Does he? this year he supposedly does; looks more like Happ slowed down a bit for whatever reason
  19. unrelated but since i'm looking at CF def stats CHARLIE BLACKMON IS -21 DRS AND IT'S STILL PRE-ASB
  20. one more minor point: Almora has slightly better sprint speed than Happ
  21. UZR is the outlier, DRS & statcast rate him as great this year which matches the eye test UZR is too black box for me to opine real well why he's just +1 in their system but the others paint the picture he's been decent on balls in his zone and has made quite a bit more plays in the gaps than the average CF, so i'm not sure that his top-end speed holds him back or is lacking; if anything he's not super quick or bursty i feel confident stating he's a very good fielder though
  22. Why? Until his BABIP regresses to the mean, keep him out there. You know when I play blackjack and double down and win I just keep doubling down every hand after until I bust very true if he goes 0-4 today then we forfeit the season
