  1. i heard the other day he's got a .428 OBP aside from june which isn't too bad, i understand
  2. this is so bat [expletive] insane to me i'm not the biggest Hendry supporter or anything, but we don't sit around during the season and think "i'm so thrilled Hendry got such fantastic players for Will Omen and Freddy Bynum, who are both bagging groceries somewhere now, i think.", but now that he parted with these guys they're blue chip prospects with enormous upside or something.
  3. i'm seeing 1.39 http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?c_id=chc&playerID=448694&section1=1&statSet1=1&section2=1&section3=1&statSet3=1&statSet2=2
  4. The problem with Wells is he pitches to a lot of contact and much of it is in the air. If he keeps most of that on the ground and has a k rate between 6-7, with minimal walks, he should maintain solid numbers. huh? his GB/FB rate is well above average.
  5. "selling high" on every young pitcher that has a prolonged stretch of great performance in fears of a Rich Hill redux is a sure-fire way to have a pretty gross rotation. i don't really understand the motivation of giving up Wells. i mean, if we had Tim Lincecum right now would you advocate getting rid of him because Prior's value blew up in an instant?
  6. it seems to be pretty clear looking back that his downfall was resultant from injuries. unless you pinpointed something in his mechanics that showed he was a significant injury risk, i don't really know how you can say i told you so about it.
  7. oh man, i'd love us to take a flier on Hermida
  8. i'm not really seeing what you guys are. the centerpieces from all those deals, Gorkys Hernandez, Andy Laroche and Jose Tabata, might all combine for 10 home runs a year if they ever make it to the big leagues together.
  9. if they acquire Halladay too, then this trade for Lee would be the most nonsensical acquisition in recent memory.
  10. that'd be fair to say, dew. cleveland got 4 guys who were probably between 4-10 or so in Phil's org ranking
  11. Drabek, Brown, Taylor are unequivocally the top 3 and Knapp's likely ahead of the other two at this point. You could quibble about Carrasco, but they were a lot more willing to deal him than Drabek all along.
  12. Marson's nice, but the in the hell are they going to do with him?
  13. hahaha i love these little thin-skinned non sequiturs never fails to deliver
  14. everybody's talking about Sandoval and Zobrist
  15. shoulda got a trademark on it, Tomboy
  16. Castro's progression: Split PA BB% K% April 68 2.9% 11.8% May 91 2.2% 9.9% June 112 6.3% 9.8% July 85 5.9% 7.1%
  17. soriano had a -20% WPA yesterday, fwiw
  18. i've got a friend who works the hotdog stand at Principal Park that told me Miles hasn't been working the count. this might be something to keep an eye on.
  19. the sensible explanation is he's a flyball pitcher with unbelievable defenders in the OF. but yeah, i'm sure he's just trying harder this year.
  20. i wouldn't mind facing reed johnson, but thats just me
  21. ignoring dexter's raving lunacy for a moment, i had no clue Jason Kubel was having such a huge season. .348/.418/.656 vs righties, .942 ops overall.
  22. UZR? Oh, I'm gonna leave this to Dextermorgan. You do realize that UZR has some serious flaws, right? oh yeah, care to elaborate? The fact that, much like most other defensive stats, it's based on observation, that it doesn't factor in the fielder's arm strength and his ability to turn a DP. 1. it isn't based on observation 2. i don't think you understand what a fact is 3. it's a range metric, no [expletive] it doesn't factor throwing arm and DP ability 4. both of those are however, measured through different stats already factored into WAR
  23. UZR? Oh, I'm gonna leave this to Dextermorgan. You do realize that UZR has some serious flaws, right? oh yeah, care to elaborate?
  24. i think a Carpenter/Wainright/Piniero injury is a must for us to have a good chance at the division.
