Why is Schwartz' approval rating that high? They were outgained by 300 yards and only stayed in the game because the Bears put the ball on the ground a billion times. Maybe voters liked the goal-line stand, I don't know. Even if CJ holds onto that ball and they win, it wouldn't have been because they played well. Because the Lions being close to winning is better than they've had for a long time. It's similar to the reasoning some on here use to defend Hendry - he's been better than the rest of the GMs the Cubs have had in a really long time. That said, I like a lot of what Schwartz/Mayhew are doing in Detroit. That's not a quick fix, but I think they're slowly moving in the right direction. well look at the last draft, where he and Mayhew procured about 17 immediate starters all of whom were likely upgrades over the Millen-regime crap leftovers they inherited and it's hard to complain. this is the first time since the Barry era the mgmt has had a focused plan that wasn't stupid ("Az Hakim is a play. MAKER.", Mariucci's stupid WCO fixation and Shawn Bryson, Marinelli's idiotic ramblings about pad level and sharp will, etc. i could probably go on for hours).
