  1. funny but probably meaningless that Harold Ramirez leads MLB in expected BA while Vargas already on the outs
  2. if so, we'll always have the one time he visibly changed gears running:
  3. don't we want Marsch to thrive
  4. to me this is kinda the same story with many of our hitting prospects, that have shown good raw power but also have struggled enough with Ks, consistency, positional value that you wonder if at their peak they'll be really too different from moderately productive players that aren't too highly valued by orgs like Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe, Randall Grichuk, whatever, etc.
  5. oh there'll be other excuses lol we have like.. 2 of these guys, one has back disease from whiffing too frequently and the other is a pitchability guy who's doing decent and can slot in as a typical #3-4 hey i just want Jed Hoyer fired and somebody brought in who can inspire any small level of confidence that there's anything worth carrying about in the somewhat even distant future, these are meager demands
  6. sure these are all probably fair points, which is to say: we won't have to worry about Willson [glow=red]possibly being on a bad contract[/glow], because Yan Gomes will be a garbage starter there on the relative cheap :D same fortunate luxury we enjoy this season not having to worry about an expensive FA costing too many dollars because we only risked 4 mil on Andrelton Simmons, it's just good fiscal management =D>
  7. Contreras is 30. Since 2017, his first year as a full time member of the Cubs, he's third in PAs for catchers, behind Realmuto and Grandal (who both put up roughly twice as much value in that time frame, but I digress). He's been catching in the organization since 2009. I love the guy, though realistically we're talking about a guy who maxed out at 2.6 fWAR and was not Kyle Schwarber in terms of postseason awesomeness. But someone is going to give him 4-5 years, and it should not be us. well yes it's these 'thoughtful decisions' that have us a bottom-5 team if you build the whole team out of hopeful minor league retreads you won't have any bad contracts!
  8. remind yourself that, next year's going to be even worse we have the best catcher in the game right now, whom the GM despises the idea of extending
  9. Yes, you can change your lineup positions, but please clarify each transaction and change. I don't want to guess what you meant. ok please move Schwarber to LF (and Eloy to DH) then add Tellez for Eloy to be DH
  10. my wife casually remarked that he "sounds dumb"
  11. has baseball finally found its own Pete Weber? "i want all your smoke, you guys fucken feed me!" is a worthy entry into the annals of smack talk
  12. can you change lineup positions? Schwarber qualifies as LF so if possible i'd like to: Add: Rowdy Tellez Drop: Eloy Jimenez
  13. exactly this- watching the Brewers trajectory unfold, it becomes very crystal clear what an immense difference it makes to have a competent GM/pres vs. sub-replacement dullard
  14. I think if you believe the bolded that's a plenty fair way to look at it, but I don't think that's at all an accurate way to characterize what their competitive timeline is likely to be or ought to be. i agree with this as well, 2026 is a safer bet
  15. goal line clearance that would've put them up 3 on aggregate, then Rodrygo scores twice in a few minutes span to force extra time, what an epic comeback
  16. seems like it's very easy for them, for various depraved reasons, to imagine doing (in their minds) rough sex that gets them hit with a wrongful assault accusation and they empathize with him on that level i guess? and also he's increasingly a culture war reactionary, so it could even just be that he's an important ally to be supported, regardless so essentially this is just a repeat of the Portnoy stuff except the crimes for Bauer are likely a little worse
  17. maybe pessimistic/skeptical is a better word than adamant, but yeah for sure, i underestimated his otherworldly tools to help allow him to survive a broken approach my hot take here is mostly that it's probably not good that most of our top hitting prospects are aspiring to be Shaq Thompson
  18. Preciado and Caissie K rates still total over 100%, curious to see how long that can last for
  19. Absolutely. He now has about a month of success at an age appropriate level plus the pedigree (went into his draft year as a potential 1.1 pick) and tools. Honestly a bit more of this and we’re talking top 50-75 prospect. hard to think of too many hitters that have raised their stock/cemented status in April more than him; Hassell III, Busch, Henry Davis, Corbin Carroll, Langeliers, Royce Lewis, Gorman, Luciano, Lawlar all in discussion i think
  20. Nelson Velazquez, two-outcomes hitter w/ another HR and 3 K nice night for Canario, 2 HR & SB
  21. All I’m saying is that he has enough of a profile to give him more than 3 weeks before giving up on him especially after missing so much time with injury Idk how much forgiveness he should be given with the profile. What exactly is his profile? Like he’s a 5’7” slappy dude with no other talent, he’s likely bad and was a terrible trade target. give him some time to get right, and fulfill his destiny as Aaron Miles
  22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpiGycpt3co Kyle, whatever happened to 'back the blue'
