  1. 74 overachieve some, still trade off Shark, Barney, Veras, Bonifacio, Schierholtz
  2. can i get 2B eligibility for Semien? he's their everyday starter there with Beckham on the DL
  3. no inside sources here, but i like McGary to return he's still a year younger than Payne, who improved his stock by returning
  4. wtf are you talking about. he clearly hit his arm No more than most three point attempts. Just seemed like less than most foul calls on threes that guy shot it 14 feet on a three-point try because he's just that weak
  5. can always count on Keith Appling to do brainless things
  6. Kyle Parker, OF, COL
  7. my guess Lake LF Castro SS Rizzo 1B Ruggiano RF Olt 3B Sweeney CF Castillo C Barney 2B
  8. can't unsee http://www.lostlettermen.com/files/images/uploads/made/files/images/uploads/slideshow/3_-_Grinch_133_400_c1.jpg
  9. is mooch up now
  10. who had the record before? i remember Pedroia's done it a few times, and has crazy numbers there
  11. yuck, UK is going to murder us
  12. yeah, pretty much they missed a kick ball for [expletive]'s sake
  13. i got what i wanted to see in that basketball game
  14. .275/.332/.440 vs. .284/.332/.428 for their careers to date but i would love it if Lake knew how to use his speed like Marte does
  15. i like Lake a lot better in LF, where you can be a huge asset defensively on athleticism alone, whereas in CF i think instincts and reps play a much bigger role also, re platooning Olt to start, he's shown a pretty sizable split (790 OPS vs. 960) at the upper levels, so it's not the worst thing to ease his shoulder along and allow him to force the issue for more PA
  16. John Baker had the lowest ISO in baseball the last two seasons (min 250 PA): .034! pretty astounding; Ben Revere was .048, and Theriot .051
  17. is it just the middle infielder thing? because that aside, i'd actually really hope we'll be able to do a whole lot better when we're inevitably stuck trying to trade some of our fringe top-100 prospects (like Travis) than 2 guys who just combined for 1100 semi-sheltered PA and less than 2 WAR: potential non-tender candidates
  18. then we'll have to clear $15M in the budget if we want to re-sign him
  19. we're going to lose 85+ games again this year regardless, so if i'm to watch the games, i'd stylistically much prefer not to do that in a fashion where we regularly struggle to score 2 runs, and jettisoning Barney (from a starting role) helps accomplish that also one small advantage to punting on a season is the freedom you're allowed to play guys with performance uncertainty to help determine if they might be considered future contributors in meaningful seasons giving Barney 600 PA this year serves no productive purpose
  20. I would say Rizzo in the 3-hole, but with the lack of power in the lineup I'd assume that they'd want him to be their main cleanup guy. I don't think they worry about things like "main cleanup guy". they probably should, numerous lineup studies have suggested that's the 2nd most important spot in the lineup for run production, behind #2
  21. according to BP, for the last two seasons: Kottaras is -44 extra strikes (4700 framing chances), and Baker is +4 extra strikes (3900 chances), which amounts to about a 5-6 run total difference The math checks out. Carry on, Theo. well, they do have Kottaras being substantially better at blocking WP & PB than Baker, with a 6-7 run difference there the other way edit, for those interested: Baker Kottaras
