  1. something comparable or better should easily be gotten using stupid Baez but we're annoyingly reticent to wash our hands of that headache
  2. and the guys they really liked are injured and the rest are rookies/unprovens it's a really ignorant meme
  3. it'd bother me far less than the Heyward trade did
  4. damn, nice block by Nova
  5. If that is what it takes to get a $20 million contract, none of us are going to be able to afford going to the ballpark. Last year NESN generated operating revenue of $230 million and cash flow of $60 million, according to SNL Kagan. [source]
  6. i'll never play in a league with tenth-points
  7. To use more relevant numbers, Sandoval has been worth 13.4 wins in 523 games the past 4 seasons. That translates to about 3.8 wins per 150 games. If he could manage to stay healthy enough to average that many games, at that pace he'd be worth about $114M over 5 years. That obviously doesn't take into account decline or a likely position change if and when his body worsens. So yeah, I still don't think he's worth that contract at this stage, but it's probably not as bad as you're making it seem. a win on the open market is looking to be much closer to $7M right now
  8. fwiw, here's the list of starters: age 35-37 this year http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=sta&lg=all&qual=50&type=8&season=2014&month=0&season1=2014&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=35,37&filter=&players=0
  9. that seems like a huge bargain, but i'm one of the biggest Hanley fans there is
  10. punting on their 39, settling for 20 yard FGs Caldwell is...frustrating
  11. yeah, whomever started Jonas Gray today is probably getting a goose-egg out of it
  12. no Lavonte David today
  13. yeah, it's half PPR and he's a safe bet to at least reach something like 4/50 (7 pts) which is close to Murray's upside (16/77? 22/119/fumble?) given that the Chiefs don't allow rushing scores i'm mostly left hoping Cutty/Charles/Gordon approximates Luck/Lacy/Cobb putput since i seem to have the team advantage aside from that
  14. who to flex Latavius Murray vs. KC Brandon LaFell vs. DET
  15. fangraphs projects us for 27 WAR (75-87?) http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=ALL&teamid=17 23rd in Batting/Fielding, 25th in SP, 6th in RP full league breakdown: http://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Team
  16. if they don't like Coghlan, you could probably just instead volunteer to take Carlos Quentin's $8M salary off their hands and DFA him after ST or whatever I'm curious if you prefer Cashner over Ross or if you just thought him a more realistic target. more realistic, but the difference between the two isn't major, in terms of my preference
  17. if they don't like Coghlan, you could probably just instead volunteer to take Carlos Quentin's $8M salary off their hands and DFA him after ST or whatever
  18. Javier Baez Travis Wood Chris Coghlan -for- Yasmani Grandal Andrew Cashner Cameron Maybin (owed 2/15)
  19. I know who Butkus, Sayers, etc. are and I don't really give a [expletive] about them. I'd give you a blank stare too if you started talking about Bears players from 40 years ago for some reason. Greg Lloyd played throughout the 90s. He's not talking about dudes from 40 years ago. he was always a go-to player when building my Sega Madden '96 roster
  20. i think they'll make a big play for Hamels instead; they've got like 10 MLB-ready arms and nothing to do with half of them except let them blow out their arms and lose all value in AAA
  21. Lester to Boston rumors seems like agent jockeying to me, more than anything in the spring they offered him 4/70 and he swiftly gave that the Mutombo treatment...what's changed in the ensuing 8 months to cause them to presumably double their offer? it doesn't make much sense
