5. nice to see, just have to hope there's also a plan to keep everybody's elbows intact
6. Steele 1.90 ERA in last 18 starts (dating back to 6/1/2022), good for 5th in MLB during that time
7. if preseason our true talent was 78w/162g then the needle on that has surely moved a bit with new information fed into the projections from our 17-games of +39 RD performance indicating 'true talent' improvements a small example of this is zips ROS for Wisdom is now 116 wRC+, up from preseason zips of 109 wRC+
8. imagine arguing that Nick Madrigal outmuscled you in some way
9. yeah nobody can touch this guy, but have to think it's just 4 innings or so in the cards for him anyway
10. it's likely Mason Miller, who has eye-popping whiff rates through his short milb career and may very well be this year's Spencer Strider appointment viewing, if so
11. oh yeah i honestly thought they'd be pretty dog horsefeathers and i'm coming around on that some some significant positive developments in my mind the bullpen has been the best in the league by many descriptive, & (more importantly) predictive metrics like k-bb%, siera etc; in stark contrast to my personal expectations for largely a heap of journeymen & castoffs lol Cardinals - i didn't expect their SP to be such a trainwreck, and their need to play pretty awkward defensive alignments (and gulp, likely major defensive downgrade at C) might mean this is more trend than blip; probably worth mentioning they were an elite shifting team and that effect has been somewhat diminished.. Liberatore might eventually help a little tbf Bellinger outperforming any reasonable expectations offensively, at levels basically not seen for any stretch since '20 the C position being mediocre instead of the black hole it looked to be is nice but i still don't have full faith it'll continue but starting pitching depth is still pretty worryingly thin until 1-2 Iowa guys gets on track, thankfully there are many potentially qualified candidates there but nobody save Thompson has done much in the early going to give much hope
12. PCA got tossed one pitch into extras for heckling the ump from the dugout
13. Iowa announcer claims Brennan Davis hit a ball 119 yesterday..
14. Caissie HR #2, Montgomery color guy said 458 feet 112 exit velo was a 3-0 green light he obliterated
15. where's Social no more preview option before posting?
16. i'd rather have the entirety of Purdue's season, without a second thought, because this of course includes those 2 accomplishments you listed and banners that are hung forever this thread is having a real atypical hot take fest re Purdue, sometimes stylistic bad matchups occur, that's part of the beauty of March Madness
17. i think it's Orange Crush?
18. i honestly think that GMs should be far more aggressive in locking up young players like these before their breakout, because even when it doesn't really work out, the math on your losses for Jon Singleton/Scott Kingery/David Bote guarantees pales in comparison to the huge savings you get from Rizzo-type sweetheart deals, and also it demonstrates to players (for whatever its worth) that you're committed to them through injury & health etc. even though in reality you're just looking to save money on the aggregate basically, the time to do these was when Ian Happ was languishing as a 1.5-win player and before Nico "proved himself" as a 3-4 WAR guy
19. they've got a couple good players but really just sorely lack depth; there's nobody they really trust on either end aside from the big 4 and that makes it really hard to pull away in most games i think
20. the COVID year showed he still has it in him, if he bounces back it probably looks a fair bit like this (4+ WAR), which would be great albeit as trade bait on the level of what Kris Bryant was
