  1. Pretty sure we had this come up in the last couple of years. The response was basically "we're not going to have an active player not available to any team for a year" so the player was shoehorned, I think into the prospect draft. Wish I could remember who it was. I agree with your post, and we could undo Olivera if we give Brian his 2nd option before someone else drafts that player. Olivera signed March 24th, and this draft started March 29th, so i don't see why that pick would be invalid
  2. I'm trying to figure out what that means without the context of the rest of the conversation. The only thoughts that are popping up have dubious relevance to baseball, though. they spotlighted Martin pointing to emphasize locations, like making Hutchinson sure to keep the breaking ball low, but it was mostly a silly tangent
  3. common sense basically dictates only three options IFA signed before start of MLB draft - goes into MLB draft - must stay on roadkill MLB roster all season IFA signed after start of MLB draft, before start of MiLB draft - goes into MiLB draft - can be put on roadkill MiLB roster if player is in minors IFA signed after start of MiLB draft - goes into next year's MLB draft
  4. Jays announcer thinks "Russell Martin's fingers are even more important than his framing"
  5. well that escalated quickly
  6. i'm just saying it's just illogical to arbitrarily throw him in the MiLB draft
  7. he's still throwing tons of breaking balls, seems like he's testing fate with that elbow but then again, aren't all pitchers oh hey it looks like it only took 2 PA for Jose Reyes to injure himself

  9. also, the bullpen impressed 4-2/3 IP 2 H 0 R 2 BB (1 BB) 5 K
  10. i'd be surprised, Duke mostly just seems like a lesser version of UK to me
  11. i'm a little heartened that we forced the Cardinals to throw 157 pitches, and were constantly in full counts (where league average OPS is ~.800) that approach didn't really bear fruit last night but you really know this will be a much more dangerous offense than we've been accustomed to
  12. there is no earthly reason Kang should be in the minor league draft Ryu was in MLB draft and their situations are 100% analogous

  14. ''I think we'll see a little feast or famine out of the Cubbies this year, huh?''
  15. Schilling's audible moan on that slow motion catch was a little bit creepy
  16. "his fingers might go farther than the ball" does he mean like, they'd fly off his hands and into the field of play
  17. we'll never get a full count hit http://k31.kn3.net/taringa/3/8/0/6/0/7/4/maucitoow/tn_BB0.jpg

  21. a generic Plumlee just fist-pumped a FT and Bryn Forbes slapped the floor in the middle of a defensive possession i hate so much about this tournament
