  1. good point new strategy: get players who aren't good in the minors
  2. i'm well aware... (he was purely average in LF last year, per UZR)
  3. purely a fantasy angle, but i'm curious what's in the 'stats package' Michael Salfino ‏@MichaelSalfino BTW, just got the stat package that charts Coghlan so highly. He should be drafts in all formats given that 2014 performance/starting job. Michael Salfino @MichaelSalfino · Mar 26 I will break the news that after a spirited defense I have dropped Stubbs in F&F for Coghlan, who charts as 34th best hitter last year. Sky ‏@Sky_Razzball Mar 26 @MichaelSalfino Lots of moving parts still but if they do move Bryant to the OF when he comes up, you know he's not in CF or RF. Michael Salfino ‏@MichaelSalfino Mar 26 @Sky_Razzball true but they don't seem like they're doing that. Plus they use the stats I am citing and are smart. Bruce Miles also contends that his two good years were the only years he was healthy, but that might just be convenient narrative
  4. Justify "sucks". He's Billy Butler with a much better walk rate and raw power. You're going to be really happy he's on our team once the DH is in the NL. Pretty sure we can find someone to do nothing but hit who is a better hitter than him. At what cost do you think you'll find someone to DH with: - a walk rate around 12% - a k rate around 16% (should keep the batting average decent) - 20 HR current power (162 game schedule) - 30+ HR future power Really, the only significant question in that list is the future power. Nobody questions the raw power is already there. The only question is if he can make a swing adjustment without losing the first two items in the list. At this point, he's basically an almost-no-risk bet to hit in the bigs. Sands is...a pitcher. A very young pitcher who has yet to come close to proving he can stay healthy for multiple rotation years in a row, let alone get advanced hitters out. i agree with most of this but i have a problem with Billy Butler comparisons because he was a monster in the minors
  5. much love to Shark for gettin' us Addi & McKinney and 1/3 Fowler
  6. i'm seeing he was +20 defensively (so he'd be 3.7 WAR with +15 D) and he missed a sixth of the season, but i see your overall point
  7. i think you're looking at his 58 G for the Yankees on the WAR, he was 4.2 for the season, and +28 UZR/150 best case scenario for him is probably RH Pedro Alvarez, which would be cool, but hopefully the Phillies covet him
  8. writer is dyslexic and actually meant to ask if the Bulls would beat Kentucky 72-10
  9. http://i.cdn.turner.com/si/.e1d/img/4.0/global/football/nfl/logos/lions_200.png
  10. i guess i'm ok with 9 games of Olt
  11. shoulda gone with these guys
  12. so, nsbb mock draft? donde esta el dew
  13. ...it's like 2 players short of our opening day lineup
  14. What the [expletive]? Are you rooting for cancer or something, you monster? Well, he will get paid SEVEN MILLION dollars during the 2018 season and jumps all the way up to ELEVEN MILLION in 2019, so perhaps we won't be able to afford him by that time, even if he is one of the best first baseman in the game. I can't even believe those figures are correct. I legitimately don't believe it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk for a fun comparison, at the same time Albert Pujols will make $55M combined for his age-38 & -39 seasons
  15. Matusz wants to start, he's kind of malcontent about it
  16. April 18th, Travis Wood serves up a triple to Jame Shield and he slides into 3B like a goof, cleats all up in the air cut to Bryant rolling around on the Wrigley infield dirt
  17. but how else is Bryant going to follow the Albert Pujols career path
  18. well, yeah, i mean, that's kind of been the basic idea and general understanding, ever since the moment he was acquired
  19. their bench probably features a better OF than some teams have, so injury concerns aren't really a big deal they also have impact players like Owens, Rodriguez, Swihart, Moncada they can bring up if need be (or trade for an top-tier starter)
  20. perfectly stated
  21. Ryan Braun had the worst 3B season ever by far in the history of UZR, so that's a very pessimistic expectation, to say the least
  22. CF - Fowler SS - Castro 3B - Bryant 1B - Rizzo RF - Soler LF - Alcantara/Coghlan 2B - Russell C - Montero
