  1. they're assuming he misses 22 games http://www.predictionmachine.com/Kris-Bryant-Demoted-by-Chicago-Cubs so that's plainly wrong
  2. If by athleticism you mean "runs fast," yeah, it's been there all along. @BenBadler Matt Szczur now in CF. Guy looks like he could deadlift a school bus if he wanted to (from 7/2011)
  3. Szczur was BA's #64 prospect in '12 after a 10 HR season, but has hit just 8 in the three seasons since the (faint?) hope is basically that his swing was badly broken before and he's discovered something mechanically that works much better for him
  4. Sands & Szczur
  5. be that as it may, i was strongly hoping we'd replace him with something better than the most hittable pitcher in baseball
  6. the good kind of pain
  7. i remember all the reports of his potential as a RP, but i don't think i ever once saw his supposed arm strength really manifest itself in the OF; i was really hoping for a laser show reminiscent of Soriano's first couple seasons here
  8. http://33.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_llsirrzV1T1qaa163o1_500.gif
  9. we jettisoned Wesley Wright so we could have Phil Coke blows my fucken mind
  10. he was similarly held back, but there was no argument to be made about him being over-ripe because he was FOUR years younger than Bryant is now
  11. i'm high on our lineup but the defense has the potential to be really trashy
  12. Hector Olivera's a different situation because he was not signed at the beginning of the MLB draft (and also likely to start season in minors) pretty analogous to Aledmys Diaz last year, just obviously older there is no rule that prevents this
  13. similar situations we've had 2014 Alex Guerrero: - no previous MLB experience - selected in Roadkill MLB draft - starts the league in MLB verdict: had to stay on Roadkill main roster all year 2013 Bruce Rondon: - no previous MLB experience - selected in Roadkill MLB draft - did NOT start the year in MLB verdict: had to be removed from roster / added to FA list it seems like a person could have gambled on Kang at any point in the MLB draft (like Rondon, 2015 Micah Johnson) and risked losing him if he started in AAA, so he should fully qualify for waivers right now
  14. majorly up his contact rate
  15. 261/315/312 in aaa last year. no thanks. he homered off Greg Holland, your argument is invalid
  16. also a reminder that Hector Aloevera is in this draft, i think
  17. i think you own my first rounder, too
  18. good point new strategy: get players who aren't good in the minors
  19. i'm well aware... (he was purely average in LF last year, per UZR)
  20. purely a fantasy angle, but i'm curious what's in the 'stats package' Michael Salfino ‏@MichaelSalfino BTW, just got the stat package that charts Coghlan so highly. He should be drafts in all formats given that 2014 performance/starting job. Michael Salfino @MichaelSalfino · Mar 26 I will break the news that after a spirited defense I have dropped Stubbs in F&F for Coghlan, who charts as 34th best hitter last year. Sky ‏@Sky_Razzball Mar 26 @MichaelSalfino Lots of moving parts still but if they do move Bryant to the OF when he comes up, you know he's not in CF or RF. Michael Salfino ‏@MichaelSalfino Mar 26 @Sky_Razzball true but they don't seem like they're doing that. Plus they use the stats I am citing and are smart. Bruce Miles also contends that his two good years were the only years he was healthy, but that might just be convenient narrative
  21. Justify "sucks". He's Billy Butler with a much better walk rate and raw power. You're going to be really happy he's on our team once the DH is in the NL. Pretty sure we can find someone to do nothing but hit who is a better hitter than him. At what cost do you think you'll find someone to DH with: - a walk rate around 12% - a k rate around 16% (should keep the batting average decent) - 20 HR current power (162 game schedule) - 30+ HR future power Really, the only significant question in that list is the future power. Nobody questions the raw power is already there. The only question is if he can make a swing adjustment without losing the first two items in the list. At this point, he's basically an almost-no-risk bet to hit in the bigs. Sands is...a pitcher. A very young pitcher who has yet to come close to proving he can stay healthy for multiple rotation years in a row, let alone get advanced hitters out. i agree with most of this but i have a problem with Billy Butler comparisons because he was a monster in the minors
  22. much love to Shark for gettin' us Addi & McKinney and 1/3 Fowler
