  1. Team A gets: Miguel Cabrera, JD Drew, and Mark Loretta Team B gets: Mike Mussina, Brian Giles, Rafael Belliard, and Sean Casey
  2. Thanks for the reminder guys. Barmes was on the waiver wire and I was able to pick him up. Thanks again!
  3. I think your pitching is potentially amazing---if healthy---but I think both offenses leave a little to be desired. They aren't bad by any means, but I'm not that impressed. I just see too many question marks in both lineups. I agree with the above poster---trade a high profile arm for two above-average hitters or one superstar.
  4. Hey, I'm sure most of you are sick of commenting on fantasy teams, but what the heck? I'll post mine anyways and any feedback you can offer will be appreciated. C- Jorge Posada 1B- Todd Helton 2B- Rafael Belliard 3B- David Wright SS- Carlos Guillen OF- Brian Giles OF- Carlos Beltran OF- Bobby Abreu Util- Chad Tracy Util- Sean Casey Util- David Delluci Util- Mark Kotsay SP- Tim Hudson SP- Kevin Millwood SP- Ben Sheets SP- Josh Beckett SP- Mark Mulder SP- Mike Mussina SP- Esteban Loaiza RP- Ryan Dempster RP- Todd Jones I think this team is stacked beyond belief, especially in a 12 team league. I'm not happy with my middle infield---Guillen/Belliard---but the outfield more than makes up for it. I think I may also run into problems in relief. Feedback?
  5. Were you trying for autographs?
  6. Unfair. Maggs got a basically guaranteed five years from the Tigers. There is no way we could have, or should have, competed with that. Agree - Maggs was a bad example (I don't think any other team was even close to Det's offer), but my point was that Hendry is not nearly creative enough when it comes to creating incentive-laden contracts for players with a history of injuries -- most recently, Nomar for instance. Hopefully the Wade Miller offer bucks that trend. What are you talking about? Dempster and Williamson both fit into the category of low base/high incentive deals you're referring to. Hendry didn't make that sort of deal with Nomar because he burned us once again by getting injured and he's content to give Cedeno his shot.
  7. I look at Andre as a rare case that metrics can't give a complete picture. The OPS/OBP isn't there---no question. However, Dawson was so complete for such a long time---great defender, great baserunner, very good power, hit for average several years, etc. To me there's no doubt he was among the most complete players of his era, and may be one player that the scouts could be more right than the statisticians. (NOT A SLAM ON METRICS, AS I DEFINITELY PUT MORE STOCK IN NUMBERS THAN WHAT I SEE.) P.S. If Dawson hadn't finished 2nd in the MVP balloting twice---if he'd won both, giving him 3 MVP awards---would he be more of a no doubt HOF'er? If so, should finishing 2nd twice be that huge a difference?
  8. No...he's basically coming on to say absolutely nothing.
  9. Breakdown of ND recruits in the top 15 in the nation at their position: #4 RB #2 dual threat QB #6 pro-style QB #4 FB #10 OT #8 OG #3 C #9 DE #14 ILB #14 OLB #3 CB #14 CB #12 K Overall, looks like one heck of a class with more verbals to come.
  10. Notre Dame's class is ranked #4 at the moment with 11 4-5 star players in the fold. Previous year's rankings have been as follows: 2005- 40th 2004- 32nd 2003- 12th 2002- 24th What a difference Coach Weis is making on and off the field. Of course I'm biased, but given his coaching ability, the strong young group of current players at ND, and a great start recruiting, I can't imagine ND not being a major national power for several years to come. Looks like the "return to glory" promised by Ty Willingham may actually be realized under Coach Weis.
  11. They can't get it against seattle unless seattle loses the next 2 and bears win both It may be improbable that things work out for homefield, but SEA has to play the Colts and @Green Bay to end the season and I think both games will be tough. I think we will blow out both the Packers and the Vikes to end the season and SEA could drop two to finish things out.
  12. Patterson? Or are you assuming he's as good as gone?
  13. In the case of Milton Bradley, we know that a better player was available and at a much lower cost. Really? The most recent reports have been Bradley for Zito. Is Zito really a lower cost than Mitre/Nolasco/Pinto?
  14. Very original. Face it---OSU is a dirty program and comparing them to ND is a joke.
  15. Well, whaddya know? Anyone think LSU is overrated and will get beat by Georgia in Atlanta? I think so.
  16. Regarding academics that is one of the reasons ND will never join. The Big 10 often does joint research, and with the religious nature of ND's research it would either a) limit their ability to do what they want with research b) involve the other schools in research they are not interested in doing. This was one of the main reasons given by the University a few years ago when the Big 10 invited ND. That plus the alumni funding. Since ND is funded mainly by the alumni the school often makes efforts to schedule games where a large fan base can see them play. A conference affiliation would take away from that ability. Those are just two of many reasons, but they are largely non-football, so I thought I would throw them out there. Just a tidbit of interesting info. Many, many, many years ago ND attempted to join the Big 10, but was denied in large due to Fielding Yost and his hatred for ND. There's one reason---and one reason only---that Notre Dame does not join the Big Ten: NBC TV money.
  17. He and his mother have both made it very clear he's coming back. His mom slipped and mentioned winning the Heisman as his goal. She meant to say National Championship. Big goals for Brady at ND next season. Quinn is already being predicted as the #1 pick in two years. A little to early for that IMO though. That was funny when his mom slipped up. You could tell she was real embarassed. Fassano is eligible for a 5th year also, but he will probably leave after this year. A side note, Ty hung a "play like a champion today" sign in the Washington locker room. Probably not interesting to most, but I found it to be funny. What a tool.

  19. Now THAT is messed up. These bowls should have to give preference to conference winners Technically they are Co-Big Ten champs. But i agree with your point. Is that really true? They have identical records, but PSU won head-to-head.
  20. Anyone give Arkansas a shot against LSU? I wouldn't be surprised if the Razorbacks at least made it close.
  21. You don't even have Corey starting. Why would we call up Pie to rot on the bench?
  22. I didn't hear it myself but this "WinWorldSeriesPlease" guy said that Levine sounded confident in saying it. Someone on this board might have heard it. I believe the guy who posted. Why?
  23. Why would Texas EVER do that for that collection of Cubs' mediocrity?
  24. Same rib injury, out for the rest of the game. Idonije not having the best of games penalty-wise. Just kills me fantasy-wise. Traded Stephen Davis and Aaron Brooks for TJ and Lavernues Coles.
