  1. Ump's ready to go go home for the season now.
  2. Rondon should have started the 8th and Chapman should have came in when runners were on 1st and 2nd with no outs, but once you put Rondon in and he gets out of a situation where you need a strikeout, you should have left him in to finish the inning (as Chapman coming in cold is probably more likely to give up a hit that puts you behind or throw a wild pitch).
  3. For real. Pretty disappointed at Maddon not using Chapman more creatively. I assume Rondon was the one warmed up already.
  4. Yeah, a packed Wrigley with everyone on their feet for a full inning....This guy is a spectacle. Meatballs love the spectacle of someone hitting 100+ mph and watching the speeds come up on the board. When he was with the Reds the place would be half-empty and still go nuts and get on their feet once he came in.
  5. Yeah, if there's an extension it's a good trade, particularly if he gets a shot at being a starter (where he could be an ace). Dude has a great arm and he's undervalued being stuck at the closer position. Mainly Reds being stupid.
  6. Yeah, I like this a lot. Been a good reliever this season. Former top pitching prospect who was a starter. Lots of years of control left. Def. still a chance Bosio works his magic and he turns into what people thought he could be 5 years ago so there's that upside. I think the stuff's always been there. The AAA pitcher is more emergency depth which is helpful. Vogelbach's obviously been trade bait for a while to an AL team.
  7. Well deserved for everyone except Russell who'll deserve it in the future.
  8. We'll need to replace Fowler after either this year (if he opts out, which I think is likely given his monster season) or after 2017, so I think trading Almora would be a mistake at this point.
  9. I've always been a proponent of Photoshopping the sweeper brushes onto Joe's RV. Maybe have the team in crazy outfits on top.
  10. wooooooooo! Ric Flair and Joe Maddon already drunk
  11. Reds pitched out, Heyward tried to go through the 2nd baseman's legs. Heyward was DOA because of the pitch-out and a very good throw.
  12. I think the Pilates stuff is a big part of the secret sauce. Dude's body control is insane. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  13. Thom Brennaman is pissed that Cubs fans would chant "Let's Go Cubbies!" in the 9th inning with the Cubs ahead.
  14. We're at +60 now through 16 games.
  15. ESPN the magazine was talking about Bryant's new pitching machine. I'm sure they've got tricks to train pitch recognition that we don't know about as well.
  16. Baez is very valuable to the Cubs on the bench since he plays plus defense at multiple positions and has offensive upside plus huge power. Basically if anyone gets hurt in the normal starting roster he's going to be playing FT. You'd need a veteran to replace that spot on the roster if you trade him.
  17. Compare Baez's K rate to Zobrist and Castro's walk rate/OBP to Zobrist
  18. Journalists should still use the two source rule even on Twitter for things like that.
  19. Backload the contract until we have dat Cubs network TV monies.
  20. I like it. Better value than some of the other second-tier starters and actually less risk than handing out a 5-6 year deal to a younger guy. He's consistently been good (was great last year) and eats innings. Veteran pitcher with playoff experience, etc. I don't care about the draft pick since that money can be dumped into IFA signings.
  21. http://curlyw.mlblogs.com/2015/11/03/nationals-name-dusty-baker-manager/
  22. Schwarber was solid/serviceable defensively until the Mets series. I think he was just trying to do too much given the problems we were having against the Mets (as were most of the rest of the team).
  23. Bring on the Tommy John surgeries for the Mets' pitchers and Murphy getting busted for PEDs. We had a great year, I think everyone would have easily taken it at the beginning. Let's get a starter, a veteran bat to balance the lineup out and get home field advantage next time.
  24. Fowler needed to take one for the team there and get hit
