    So he's starting a SuperPAC called the "Ending Spending Action Fund", has enough money to donate $10 million to it, but the baseball team he owns turns around and asks for all this government money from the City? Not very smart. Of course, one of the owners running nasty ads against Obama probably isn't smart for the the team's bottom line either. If he wants to donate money to Romney and publically support/campaign for him, that's fine, but my opinion is we need a Constitutional Amendment to limit this SuperPAC spending.

    meh, too bad that half-inning is so short... CM Punk's always been very entertaining as a wrestling commentator, so he would have been fun to have in the booth for longer.

    Tracking flyballs/linedrives isn't all that athletic of an activity. It's largely instinctual after years of following balls coming off bats from that distance/angle. Well, then spend some money to make an app where players can "see" thousands of fly balls coming off a bat (based off real plays in games) one after the other and watch it on their IPad from different positions on the field... the player has to decide quickly which way to break. You could even use the accelerometer/GPS and camera to do an agumented reality thing. You could even have it support different wind conditions at the different parks, etc, so you could see how a ball reacts with the wind blowing in or out. It's not going to be as good as real practice reps, but I have to believe something like that would accelerate the learning process.

    Seriously, can't we hire a coach to just improve LaHair's D in LF? Is he doing NFL combine-type drills to improve his speed/quickness or are we stuck doing 1980s baseball "conditioning" drills? I think anyone, assuming they're reasonably athletic should be able to play a serviceable LF with the right training.

    If LaHair keeps it up, I think you have to make room and try him as a starter in the corner OF spots once Rizzo comes up. Will be a good problem to have it happens.

    Tell me about it...It's all the Yankees guys talk about when they play the Rays...ESPN does it too when the Rays are on TV. I like it, of course, but the way they talk about it you'd swear this is something new to the sport. Personally, I've always felt it was a way to connect baseball and football and let casual fans know that baseball teams do have to move around defensively depending on the hitter and the situation (it's not just pitcher throws to batter and some guy might end up where the ball is hit). http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6908844/information-age-changing-way-game-played Actually, it is pretty new to do it as aggressively as the Rays have done it.
