  1. This is from yesterday's game thread: They continue to talk. That's about it. I don't think anything is imminent, but my gut feeling is that something gets done. They continue to talk. That's about it. I don't think anything is imminent, but my gut feeling is that something gets done. Do you think talks were slowed up b/c of the shoulder? btw, thanks for the pbp. :D No, the shoulder had nothing to do with the talks "slowing." The agent has other clients, and both sides are taking their time.
  2. 2005 NL average walk rate = .0845 2005 Aramis Ramirez walk rate = .0694 2005 NL average K/BB ratio = 2.01 2005 Aramis Ramirez K/BB ratio = 1.71 I don't think Ramirez is patient at the plate. He's pretty average, IMO.
  3. There is a difference between Rusch and Ponson - like 100 pounds.
  4. there's no audio or video for this game. Obi Miles was our only hope.
  5. I was about 15 rows back from home plate when he hit that....if you watch the video I'm the one guy in blue in th middle of the sea of red jumping up and screaming "NEIFI I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABY!!!!". :D fixed And for the record, I said that too.
  6. so true. good to see him putting it together. keep it up.

  8. Wilson would be a solid platoon partner for Jones, but we all know that wouldn't happen.
  9. And who gets the short end of that stick? Probably the Pirates, but they also save the most money. I was refering to our OF situation.
  10. Is there an offense capable of overcoming a mediocre staff? Maybe an elite offense, which wasn't in the cards looking at the list of available players these past two seasons. I don't blame him for the offense (Jones in RF is freaking ridiculous) so much. Having crap like Neifi and Rusch eating payroll kills me.
  11. As far as I know Wuertz still has an option(s) left. If it wasn't for Wellemeyer, he'd probably still be on the 25 man come the regular season.
  12. Wood never has been a FA. That was an extension. At the time it looked like an awesome contract given his talent and recent health/performance. Whoops. I can't fault Hendry for that one.
  13. Is this speculation or have you heard this somewhere? I think it is speculation from Paul Sullivan. I just don't think JK has the track record to claim that 5th spot in the rotation. Wuertz is sucking it up right now. Novoa is sick. Wellemeyer probably gets traded or put in the pen until he is traded since he's out of options. That final BP spot is open and Ryu is the only one pitching well (that isn't cast as a definite starter come hell or high water). There are some holes in our pen. Wellemeyer hasn't been very impressive in ST at all and doesn't really deserve to make the team, but keeping him on the 25 man may buy JH some more time to send him packing for more than a used jockstrap. Our Pen: Dempster Howry Eyre Ohman Williamson ???? The open spot is Wuertz's if he can get his act together in time, but if not, I think Ryu really is the frontrunner assuming the Wellemeyer situation is resolved before opening day.
  14. Can he catch the ball? Well, provided it's hit right at him. He doesn't even flinch when the ball hits him. Tough dude.
  15. I thought we played very well the first 60 minutes. The ball was in the other half for the majority of the time. Then Berhalter hit the bottle when no one was looking and cost us two goals. I was surprised at how much depth we have, given that was our B team. Johnson and Convey were impressive. Ching was nonexistent. Keller was the victim of poor defensive communication (that first goal was on him though).
  16. It's going to come down to the wire to see how guys like Theriot, Pagan, Grissom (less so b/c his advanced citizenship gives him the edge), and Restovich play. Another start for Hill and Marshall could also be in the works. It sounds like JK might make the club as longman. Wellemeyer too. Weurtz is bound for the minors unless he turns it around real quick. A lot of guys are on the bubble.
  17. Grissom really hasn't impressed me or anyone in ST. Look at Babe Ruth's resume. Why isn't he on the team?
  18. JRod was rumored to be on his way down to the minors b/c his ST was so poor. You guys lose Bigbie, we lose Prior. That's the way of it. :(
