  1. Bet she don't make that mistake again !! not until next year at least.
  2. Cedeno to 2B on a ball that got away from the catcher.
  3. Cedeno with a single up the gut. Had a double stolen earlier too. Looks like the bat's starting to come around.
  4. Hahaha, "they'd of had to surgically removed that ball from his earhole is he did something like that" - Grace refering to Ortiz's post HR antics in the WBC if that had been against guys like Bob Gibson or Sutcliffe.
  5. He missed ball 4 by a mile 3 pitches before he grounded out.
  6. i like how they asked Drew the same question 4 frickin times. great interview.
  7. I can't believe he caught it. Not only did he dive, he had to dive to his right and backwards at the same time. He made an amazing catch. Web gem for sure. Definitely not a time and dive either. Robbed.
  8. Nice work, Ryu. He didn't let a couple mistakes shake him.
  9. The 40-man roster is currently full, but unless Wellemeyer defies all odds and reason and makes the team, he will be off due to his out-of-options status. As such, there is effectively room on the 25-man roster for one NRI. IMO Wellemeyer is a lock at this point to make the opening day roster. 7 relievers Dempster Howry Williamson Eyre Ohman Wuertz Wellemeyer He may not stick once they need a 5th starter but until that time I don't see anyone else that would even be realistically competing for that 7th bullpen spot since Novoa is out indefinitely. I also don't see any way Grissom does not make the opening day roster. If he doesn't then Pagan has to be the 5th outfielder and Theriot would have to make the team as the 7th infielder. There are no other reasonable candidates already on the 40 man. Therefore, Hendry needs to clear two 40 man roster spots and I assume he will do that by trading some guys away for prospects(e.g. - Walker). Ryu is in the running for a long relief role if he doesn't get the #5 slot in the rotation. I'd like to see Wellemeyer traded before Opening Day.
  10. b/c ST is just a small number of innings against guys that are going to be bagging groceries in a couple of weeks (well...sent down the the minors anyway). Wuertz would be on a bus to Iowa right now if it wasn't for Baker taking into account the last couple of seasons. It's only fair that Rusch and Williams get the same benefit of the doubt. Then explain to me why Williams and Rusch seem to be having trouble getting the grocery baggers they're facing and Guzman and Marshall aren't? Either way, my actual point was to ask why it was a foregone conclusion that Williams and Rusch would fill out two rotation spots 'automatically'. Marshall and Guzman haven't proven anything at the ML level. Williams and Rusch have and it counts in their favor. A few ST games are almost meaningless unless you pull a Wuertz. all rusch has proven at the ML level is that he sucks. why do bad innings count in favor of guys as 'experience'? He's not that bad. It's a pretty good bet that he'll eat innings with around a 4.50 ERA as a starter, which is decidedly average. I'm no big fan of Rusch, but saying that he sucks isn't entirely accurate.

Rusch and Williams are notoriously slow starters. This is also factored into the equation. Once you have your SP ML job, it's pretty tough to lose it in ST. Right or wrong, that's the way it is all over the majors. It's not Dusty's vet fetish coming into play.

  13. From the wording Dusty used, it's sounds like the job is Cedeno's for quite some time, even if he struggles. He's already made it and doesn't have to worry about keeping the job, just play baseball according to Dusty.
  14. Yup, that's right Len. We've put the leadoff runner on base each of the last 4 innings...and still have no runs to show for it. Awesome.
