sarge screwed him up. I think he's trying to help him not take so many called strikes. I know there's the idea that they are trying to make him too aggressive but he looked too passive in that AB. part of taking a lot of walks is getting caught looking at strike 3. it's not a bad thing. chasing garbage out of the zone is much worse - which is what sarge teaches.
That wasn't Ecksteins fault. Maddux threw the ball to the homeplate side of the bag and pulled Walker into the basepath. And yes, it was frightening. true, but why would the midget move left, into Walker?
at least 2 of those are on failed hit and runs - basically gimme's. so he's really around 3 for 16, or around 20%. And how many other catchers have nabbed guys on busted hit and runs? Should we look at their adjusted thrown out % as well? Don't get so defensive. I simply stated a fact. Don't get so defensive. I asked two questions regarding your method of stating these facts. Is there an echo? Should we look at an adjusted ratio? Why not? It'd be a much more accurate assessment of a catcher's ability to throw out a basestealer. Barrett is typically below average in throwing out basestealers. Nothing I've seen so far this year changes that. A couple botched hit and runs inflated his CS ratio. He'll regress to career averages. Personally, I think Barrett's bat more than makes up for this deficiency.
