    Anyhow, wOBA Dunn .379 AGonz .378 Obviously a difference in age but how do you justify wiping the farm clean for one when the other is available in FA?

    I don't understand the desire to have him back. The "hot streak" has consisted of a bunch of singles and no walks. He has put up numbers similar to a down year from Ryan Theriot, and he is 31 and plays 1B. Pick a AAAA player and get the same production.

    And of all the players in the lineup it's got to be Colvin that suffers a freak injury.

    Tulo's home/road splits are about what you'd expect. CarGo has a .764 OPS away and a 1.205 at Coors.

    Lol I haven't been quiet. Thank god there are now sites like Fangraphs that can call attention to things like this. Eventually organizations will all come around, though I sometimes wonder how long it will take.

    Castro would start every game possible over the next 10 years if I had my way and I would bear the children of Geovany Soto. I just think the organization gains nothing by giving Darwin Barney, Sam Fuld and Bobby Scales playing time. For those saying that Chirinos is of no value whatsoever in a trade, do you think the same of Kila Ka'aihue?

    Geovany Soto spent 3 years at Iowa before coming up at age 25. Chirinos is 26 and has put up ridiculous wOBAs the last 2 years including .428 this year. I'm not saying he is anywhere near the caliber of Geovany Soto but you can't tell me that no team would consider him a decent inclusion in a trade package. Obviously he isn't a centerpiece, but he has value.

    The lack of position player development is an approach that I don't agree with but at least I see the logic in focusing on high-ceiling pitching. I guess it just seems so incredibly standard for a team out of the race to give players like Chirinos (or Castillo) and Smith PAs, if only because a hot month might turn them into an auxiliary piece in a trade. Yet here are the Cubs, passing them over for the likes of Bobby Scales. Of course this isn't the most detrimental oversight the organization has made, it's just so basic in my mind.

    Really? I know he's 26 and has repeated levels but this is his 3rd very productive year in a row. It's not like I think he's a top prospect but he is certainly a better backup candidate than Koyie Hill. Do you really disagree?

    Chirinos without a doubt. Koyie Hill has no business getting more PAs. If they want Castillo to get the time then give it to him, I just prefer Chirinos. Marquez Smith should be up as well. I understand wanting to reward the loyal filler but should that take precedence here?

    I have never been so upset at this organization and my god that is saying something.... Scales, Fuld and Snyder up when there are guys who could have a future with the team sitting on their hands. Why doesn't someone in the media start asking the right questions? There just isn't any excuse for this.

    Okay, what? Really? What does the organization gain from that lineup? Best lineup on the field? nope Giving ABs to important young players? no Trying to establish trade value for AAAA types? If I thought they had any reasoning this would be it but it's incredibly weak. What puts me over the top is Koyie Hill getting PAs over Chirinos and Castillo. I just cant even articulate how confusing this is.

    Okay, no one else will do it, so I'm flying to Chicago to ask why in god's name Soto is hitting 8th. He has been more productive than Adam Dunn Adrian Gonzalez Matt Holliday Evan Longoria etc and he's hitting 8th for the 59-77 Chicago Cubs. What is going on, and why is no one asking them?

    Good lord, of course I would rather have a RH .400 wOBA than a LH .360. If the numbers are the same, we could use the LH, that's all I'm saying. Throw in the fact that the LH in this case produces more and costs no prospects and it seems to be a no-brainer, even if he is older. His skill set isn't as likely to decline as some. I can't believe I'm having to argue this side after all the debate a few years ago. I am very aware that handedness is of very little importance and it should never outweigh production. That doesn't mean it is completely irrelevant.

    Speaking of splits, CarGos are lol. 1.226 OPS at Coors, .729 on the road.

    Yeah, he could easily improve, but it's not like he needs to fill out. He's not a major candidate to add power. And his Home/Road splits are identical.

    Some LH power actually should be a priority for the team this year. We have the perfect position at which to fill both, and Butler provides neither. Dunn at 3/30 >>>>>>>> giving up prospects for Billy Butler. The Royals will want Archer +. For a middle of the pack 1B ( 13th out of 26 in wOBA)? No thanks.

    Soto is already our best hitter. Soto. Though Fuku is close. If you use wOBA to determine production at the plate (and there's no reason you shouldn't) Geovany Soto has been the 13th best hitter in baseball (min 330 PA). And he hits 8th on one of the worst teams in the league.
