  1. On board with the Wesneski prediction. I'll add that he is the lone cub in the All-star game. Steele gets shelled and ends the year in Iowa. Mervis is up in May and wins RoY. Cubs ride a ton of above-average (but no star-level) production to 1st place and an NLDS exit.
  2. Miguel Amaya breaks out, gets called up. Owen Caisse posts a > 130 wRC+ Made makes a case for #1 status.
  3. We'll never know. But in all seriousness, I'm happy for Tim, and I hope that the old gang stays active while a bit of new life is breathed into the site. Good luck with the takeover. I'll be here regardless.
  4. I will stick around because this has always been my internet home but I have to say, this whole thing has the same vibe as waking up to find a dude at your kitchen table who tells you, "I'll be horsefeathers your mom from now on, and tearing up your bathroom every morning, but you can trust me, things will be the same moving forward, so perk up little buddy."
  5. Is there another Canario in the system? I thought he was out for another few months at least, but it looks like he got a PA today and played an inning or two in LF?
  6. Seems like they value proximity to the majors more than most, which I can get behind. Still a bit odd, though.
  7. I'll take the under on those numbers. .250/.320/.400
  8. If there was a way to wager on the Cubs making a substantial trade soon, I would.
  9. They seem to be trying to put complementary pieces in place first and then let a solid farm come up and raise the ceiling, almost inverting the traditional method. Time will tell, but I don't think I necessarily hate it.
  10. You're both right.
  11. I feel like they are going to legitimately go after Ohtani.
  12. I want Luzardo, think he has the TOR upside currently lacking, but it's going to take a good deal more than that.
  13. Wait, what? I don't know Jim Riley, but he must be from L.A. How are the Dodger and Cub deals even in the same universe? LA's #6 and #10 prospect, neither a top 100 guy, both atrocious in their MLB stints last year, and that's somehow in line with a package of what you could argue are 4 better prospects?
  14. This post is borderline dumb as horsefeathers, sorry for being an horsefeathers though. The presence or lack of highlight reel plays is not exactly how defensive metrics determine value, and while they aren’t perfect, they are pretty good. The fact that you can't tell my tongue was firmly in my cheek says you should reevaluate your reading comprehension before criticizing a post.
  15. The only teams that shouldn't be giving Mervis 500 PAs are those gunning for 100+ wins with superstars at 1B and DH.
  16. I was trying to get hyped, but after spending 5 minutes watching Swanson's defensive highlights on Youtube, I can now confirm that defensive metrics are horsefeathers. Nico is a better SS with a similar arm. Seriously, highlight videos are supposed to make a player look better than they are but it was terribly uninspiring. Not sure he made a single play that would crack Javy's top 100. It may have affected my experience that Chip kept saying "that's a Dansby dandy", which I found profoundly disturbing.
  17. If I'm Jed, I'm calling the Angels and saying pick your five favorites.
  18. Except for Coby White, no bull shot under 60%. That's bonkers.
  19. If he accepts, I'd just lean into the name and only sign 6'4 + players moving forward.
  20. When the season ended, I suggested Luzardo as the guy I'd go after. I originally proposed using surplus OF prospects, which the Marlins are short on. Now, with Canario's injury, I tried plugging in Christian Hernandez + Keegan Thompson and BTV accepted it, so i'll go with that. I'd add a good deal more, if necessary. Young + High 90's + #1 upside is exactly what the rotation needs.
  21. I came to post this but decided to check fangraphs. Today I learned that in his 154 PAs, he was a more productive hitter than Aaron Judge.
  22. If 22 players from this season's AFL have more productive careers than Matt Mervis, I will tattoo ricketts' face on my nipples.
  23. omg here we go
  24. Don't think they're rebuilding, but they have Sam Huff, a legit C with 70 power ready to take most of those PAs, and they desperately need OF help and SP, so it would be one of those deal-from-your-strengths-to-address-your-weakness type trades.
