Well, they're in the process of screwing us, so I'm not enjoying it all that much. I'd much prefer to play a German team with nothing at stake. If this holds, there's a ton of pressure on us to get the win against Portugal. This. Loew is such a terrible tactical manager. All this talent, and they play slow as crap.

Wouldn't they play Germany in the quarters? I'd consider having to play one good team to get to the semis an easy path. Not that Germany looks very beatable thus fa.

France have an easy-ass path to the semifinals, too.

Especially because Godin should have been sent off for a second yellow about 30 minutes in with the score 0-0. His handball for the 1st yellow could have easily been called DOGSO. He reached out and batted it down, otherwise Rooney was clean through. Really cynical move by Godin.

Oh England...you usually don't disappoint until the knockout games. What a terrible loss. If that happened to us I'd be apoplectic.

Mexico-Croatia is going to be a really good game; I think Mexico will get the result they need, but it should be entertaining stuff. Who's everybody got today? I've got Columbia, England, and a draw in the Greece/Japan game.

Del Bosque made absolutely terrible decisions today with his lineup. Iniesta without Xavi, or Fabregas was a stupid decision, and Diego Costa isn't any good. He has all that talent on the bench and is pissing it away.

No, because Brazil and Argentina both look like they'll get knocked out the instant they play a halfway decent side. The only reason you would take that is because of Germany. France, to me, has a shot at making a run more than either of those two.

Why do soccer folk insist on referring to singular countries in the plural? It kind of bugs the crap out of me. It's grammatically correct to do so.

I'm used to it. It doesn't bother me as much as it used to, really, so long as the other person actually listens and processes what I say. It also seems that the more casual fans are catching on faster. I was explaining what "keeping the shape" meant to someone the other day, and he understood what I meant pretty quickly.

Not at all surprised to see Algeria leading Holland Jr. today. Algeria are better than people think.

I think Zusi gives that back, though, on the defensive end. All of Portugal's attack is going to be on either wing; I don't think you can afford to not have Bedoya's work rate in there.

The best corners/set pieces are whipped in at a lower height, with pace. Too much arc, and the keeper gets it. Too low, and you never get it past the near post.

I'm been trying to figure out the changes for Sunday's game, but beyond replacing AJ with Wondo, I don't see how you can change anyone in the defense or midfield unless they're hurt. Besler was playing very, very well, and Bedoya's just better than Zusi is.

Brooks is the same idiot who missed a club game because of pain caused by a back tattoo he got. He's a very dumb, very inexperienced player.
