  1. We need to establish more possession upfield.
  2. They need to sort this [expletive] our right now
  3. I'm not a fan. It's still putting all the pressure on Bradley to support Clint in the attack. Not enough quality in the final third. JK should have left Mix at home if he isn't going to trust him to play. It's two defensive minded wide mids, two B2B guys and one DMin support of an ACM subbing at striker.
  4. Kompany starting for Belgium. USSoccer.com doesn't have the lineup. If that's correct, its shockingly defensive.
  5. I get the first two. Very surprised at no Beckerman. I thought at one point we could see Cam held out so he could come in for Beckerman. So I would then guess Mix is starting central?
  6. Jozy not starting today per Jeremy Schapp. No full lineup yet. If he's not starting, he shouldn't play.
  7. I didn't rate Switzerland going in, but they were every bit as good as Argentina today. If I had been that guy and hit the post and kneed it wide like that I'd be broken.
  8. It would be nice if the Swiss would bury one of these golden chances.
  9. [expletive] Belgium. Its boring France with worse food. I've seen In Bruges. They do the same thing ze Germans do and play 4 CBs in their backline, except Vermalen isn't going to play because he's hurt like he always is for Arsenal, and Kompany might not play either. Felliani has a knock as well, although that one is not that serious. Their attack is narrow, and Eden Hazard, while dangerous in the attack, plays defense like a bored housecat being forced to chase a laser pointer. Lukaku is in poor form and our CBs match up well with him anyway. It's the small, shifty guys that give us trouble. If we push them out wide in the attack, and if FJ can jump into the attack and give Dempsey some additional support in the final third, there's no reason we can't beat them. This is an opponent where Yedlin off the bench could cause them fits. I think we can get behind them if we have enough pace on the field to do so. Heart says 2-1 US. Head says it goes to AET.
  10. Howedes is German for "Why is Fabian Johnson playing for America?" Love it.
  11. If Algeria pull this off I will never stop patting myself on the back for calling in after the matchup was set. Germany's slow-assed backline and Loew's bizarre insistence on playing Lahm in the midfield despite Howedes being a traffic cone and Mertesacker being German for Clarence Goodson is mystifying.
  12. Do you start him or bring him in as a sub to play 20 mins? You start him, because if he pulls a Costa and re-injures himself, it only burns one sub, as opposed to subbing him on and then having to bring him right back off. Or worse, if he's the 3rd sub and re-injures himself, then we're down to 10 men. For me, he either starts, or doesn't play at all.
  13. https://mtc.cdn.vine.co/r/videos/2DC170A0071083520895936593920_1401305697393d50df72436.mp4.mp4?versionId=6OqKi5bTGznBelXb8ZhUMi9.MH6TL9A9 Their goalie did this in a game in May.
  14. you were saying? I was saying they were exhausted and I'd be stunned if they won the shootout. They were exhausted, and I am stunned they converted all of them. Especially Campbell.
  15. Those were perfect PKs. No jacking around with runups, no trying to sidefoot it to the strong side (except Campbell). Just picking a spot shoulder high to the left or right and blasting it. Well deserved for the Ticos.
  16. CRC are so gassed; I'd be stunned if they win the shootout.
  17. That missed handball in the box looms...
  18. This CRC/Greece game is either going to be awesome or boring as crap. I don't see a middle ground.
  19. That I do agree with; he should have known not to put the ref in a position to have to make a decision.
  20. Even slowed down, it seems soft to me. I see the slight step on the toe, and I see Robben acting like the Ghanaian sniper got him. Like I said, I have zero love lost for Rafa, and I'm glad it was him that the call went against, but if that call went against us, at that point of the game, I'd have gone nuts.
  21. Rafa should have known better. Robben had no angle to shoot on goal and Rafa needs to mind his feet in those situations. Robben embelished, but that was the correct call. Within the context of how he called the previous 94 minutes of the game, it was absolutely not a PK. Even given the call, if it were possible to card both Rafa for the foul and Robben for simulation, he should have done it. Subbing Gio out cost Mexico the game, but that was an iffy call at best.
  22. As much as I dislike Rafa, that was a soft-assed penalty, and Robben is no better with his dolphin-like theatrics.
  23. I've got Mexico and CRC today. CONCACAF represent'n
  24. Colombia are a much, much more complete team than Brazil. I fully expect them to beat Brazil, and part of me wouldn't be surprised if it was by multiple goals. Brazil's complete lack of a midfield is going to be their undoing. That, and somehow having Fred and Jo as striker options. Both those guys suck.
  25. James Rodriguez is ridiculous.
