  1. Isn't the way this worked that all the south american guys took money to support the russian/qatari bids? It might be more a matter of who didn't take money. The CAF (Africa) are another block who took money for Qatar.
  2. On the one hand, these are all CONCACAF and CONMEBOL people so superficially it doesn't link to the bids. On the other hand, this is how the JOD goes after large organizations; starting on the margins and working their way in. 4 of these guys have already agreed to pleas; they're going after Blatter and/or Platini.
  3. Drop the [expletive] hammer on these assholes.
  4. Its not so much the expectations as it is the relentless ass-kissing that will come his way with good performances at the U20 WC. ESPN/FS1 will hype him up far beyond what's reasonable for a guy with zero senior team appearances for Arsenal. It's gone a long way toward derailing Julian Green. We (read, not us literally but collectively) should probably watch whatever happens with an objective eye and remember that for every Luis Suarez/Pato/Cavani at the U20's, there's a Danny Szetela.
  5. Gareth Bale is going to hear it from the Madridistas now.
  6. What's with the weirdass rumour about Noah punching some fan last night?
  7. Watching Martins and Clint combine is just a joy; it was even more pronounced on that postage stamp of a field. Also not for nothing, but Petrescu is a terrible ref. Inconsistent with calls and too quick to pull cards.
  8. If they trade Culter and multiple picks to get Mariotta they're the dumbest idiots in sports.
  9. That isn't going to happen anymore. CA figured out that Montreal sucks, and how to play on turf. Their first and third goals were awesome.
  10. Stupid Real Madrid. Javier Hernandez seems really out of place as a genuinely good dude on the world's biggest collection of egos.
  11. If Sarvas isn't suspended multiple games for either stomping on Clint's nuts or kicking him on a different play when he was down, there's something wrong with the MLS DisCo. Also, I love Andrea Canales when she gets all self-righteous. She helped get Bradley fired after the 2011 Gold Cup. Here's hoping she does something similar with JK.
  12. I keep wondering what he does to earn the praise he gets. People talk about how he just takes over games, but I never see him involved in games like he's one of the top players in the world. Is Hazard Chelsea's Ozil? Anti-Ozil? He's usually the only one on Chelsea that's allowed to consistently attack. And he's not their Ozil; Ozil's really good and doesn't deserve the crap he gets for not running around like an idiot.
  13. I said before the R16 game in the summer that Hazard plays defense and tracks back like a bored housecat. I've seen nothing this season to change that opinion. Great attacking player, but jeebus he doesn't track back or keep shape.
  14. Chicago Fire are a hot mess; Shipp would be wise to get out of there any way he can.
  15. Exactly, plus at this point playing for a program being run into the ground isn't as appealing as playing for one perceived on the rise; JK's recruiting going forward is going to be substantively impacted by poor results, and we've been kind of bad for a year now. Anyone good isn't going to throw their lot in with a US team that isn't winning.
  16. Well, Mix was a Bradley recruit. Brooks is a great athlete but a kind of bad defender; like the CB version of Eddie Johnson. ArJo, to me, is useless unless playing against CONCACAF opposition that's crying on the field. Green is acting like an idiot at the club level. Zelalem I'll grant you; I'm excited about him. Boyd may or may not be any good. My point is, of our core, JK hasn't really recruited any of the guys there. Jones was a Bradley recruit and FJ had already begun the process and filed his one-time switch paperwork prior to JK being hired, which means he was also a Bradley recruit, as was Chandler. He's recruited a lot of depth, which is what happens when you troll BL2 for dual citizens, but I don't think his recruitment is worth all this, especially since it's coming at the expense of looking at MLS guys who should be in the picture over dreck like Morales, Castillo and the like. ETA: FJ was on the radar but didn't commit until after JK called him, so we can credit him with FJ.
  17. I'd describe him more like a Charlie Weis figure; one spell of success without actually winning anything using largely someone else's core combined with arrogance, self promotion, and increasingly diminished returns in subsequent jobs. But I put the odds at Sunil actually doing something about it at below 5%; he'd probably have to crash out of the Gold Cup AND blow the Confed playoff to force Sunil to actually see what's been clear for a while now.
  18. Benny Feilhaber firing a shot on Twitter. If JK doesn't win the Gold Cup and doesn't get treated like Bradley did I'm gonna get pissed. JK should have been fired after the World Cup, not given an extension before the Cup. He's a tactical fool and is fracturing our talent pool and destroying some of our best traits as a NT. Recruiting from 2BL as opposed to supporting and working with MLS isn't going to get us anywhere.
  19. Maybe JK ought to revisit his training regimen
  20. I have no idea what he was thinking on that. Can anyone else remember another player getting sent off after less time on the field than that? I feel like I saw it happen one other time, but I couldn't tell you when. I've never seen a player with Gerrard's pedigree do it, though.
  21. Jesus Gerrard. You were in the game like 50 seconds. Sent off for stomping on Herrera.
  22. That ball had no chance of going in; its not a golf ball with backspin. It was past the rim.
  23. Tim Howard is done, guys. Stick a fork in him. He had his one last, final hurrah when Belgium put 80% of their shots right at him; he's dreadful at this point.
  24. Stupid Iowa State...
