  1. Also factor in that Aramis' numbers in 2003-2005 are all better than Tejada's and Tejada's played more games on average. Thus, his durability doesn't mean increased production. Rather, it's a sign that when Aramis gets his legs into better shape, he's going to completely blow Miggy out of the water, so to speak.
  2. Neither would I. Aramis is better than Miggy. Is he better when you factor durability into the equation? Tim, this past September was the longest extended period of time missed for Aramis since 2002. He's got to cure the nagging hammy issue, but it's not like he's the second coming of Alou, or Nomar even. His durability is not that big of a concern.
  3. Ramirez is obviously a better player offensively, however, we expect different offensive production from SS and 3B. I'm just throwing that out there. I wouldn't trade ARam for Tejada straight across. Yeah, but at what point is production just production? You're just shifting deck chairs on the Titanic. You don't get better by losing ARam and gaining Tejada, you just changed the production to a different position. Plus, there aren't any decent 3B options out there to deal for or sign. There are at least a couple of decent SS options, and one of them is on your team.
  4. Tejada or Ramirez. .278 .336 .472 .808 .311 .360 .534 .894 .304 .349 .515 .864 or .280 .330 .448 .778 .318 .373 .578 .951 .302 .358 .568 .926 Guess who is who.
  5. I wouldn't trade Ramirez for Tejada straight up because it doesn't make the team better. Yes, Tejada's production for his position is a little better than ARam's production for his position, but in the end it's not an appreciable difference. It ends up being a lateral move offensively. I'd throw any prospects it took at Baltimore, but wouldn't give up anyone from our core for him.
  6. ...if you get a full season out of ARam pretty much an unnecesary quip, but I'll play as if the Cardinals thirdbaseman is the picture of health. the best thing that could have happened to his knees is his shoulder injury. Aram gets the nagging pulls that don't go away, but Rolen has two chronic knees and now a shoulder that may never be the same. Hopefully the trainer the Cubs sent to the DR to work with him this winter will pay off, offensively and defensively.
  7. ...if you get a full season out of ARam They guy misses the last 6 weeks of a lost season and a handful of games in 2004 and suddenly he's injury prone enough to deal, wheras Nomar Garciaparra missed over 50% of the last two seasons, and people are wishing he was resigned. That makes no sense to me. I cannot believe how underrated Aramis Ramirez is by some people. Everyoe forgets that on the day he got hurt, he led the Cubs in HR's, RBI, and was hitting over .300 after being bad in April and half of May. He's so good, and he's just hitting his prime.
  8. If Tejada is a Cub AND Walker stays to play 2nd, then I could definitely live with Corey and hope he pans out in right. I think this would largely negate the impact of getting Tejada. The enticing thing about Miggy is that you have production 1-8 in the lineup. Putting Corey in RF takes that away. I could live with a Burnitz type out there although I would still prefer Bradley or a high OBP option. If Miggy is landed, then you caan live with an Encarnacion or something like that, but not Corey.
  9. Not having your 2 starting safties will hurt, big time. I think Pittsburgh wins 17-6.
  10. Aramis not running hard on easy grounders because his hamstrings are sore is not indicative of any laziness, lack of hustle, or anything else like that. He absolutely needs to work on flexibility, which he is this offseason, and I'm looking forward to see Aramis in terrific shape next spring.. I'm not sure why you're saying he's les than enthusiastic about playing hurt, since he played with the bad hammys for awhile before finally pulling one badly enough to be shut down, hence the "lack of hustle". He's entering his prime years, and will be in a position to win an MVP award before the end of his current contract. Blalock is a terrible offensive player away from Arlington. Tejada isn't as good offensively as Aramis is. That's a terrible trade. The Cubs don't get better, they get worse. Aramir, Prior, Zambrano, Lee and Barrett are the 5 practically untouchable players on the team. You don't trade them unless you're blown away.
  11. Quite a few. Ramirez is at best average at third. Walker is below average at second. The IF would be strong at SS and 1B, but wouldn't rank at the top of all MLB IF's. Now, if Hendry trades Walker and we end up with Lee, Cedeno, Tejada & Ramirez, that would be pretty impressive defensively. Tim, Are you thinking defensively? Aramis is way above average offensively.
  12. Lot of young pitching to work with Yoda Mazzone.
  13. The posters at SoSh seem to think they're the front runners for Tejada.
  14. ARam is better than Nomar and Mora combined.
  15. No. We traded him once, we can do it again. Or we can just release him.
  16. While you're dreaming BbB why not send them a manager too? I'd settle for swapping pitching coaches. Jeeze....I forgot Leo went to Baltimore. Let's see him do wonders for Hill and Williams. As long as said wonders are in the AL, and Miggy performs, I could care less what we send out of the minors. :D
  17. While you're dreaming BbB why not send them a manager too? I'd settle for swapping pitching coaches.
  18. Yeah. He's talking about the Tejada thing right now. Sounds like the Cubs have very serious interest. He also said if the Orioles think about trading Tejada things would go very quickly. So if the O's GM is smart, he'll start by asking for Prior, Z or ARam. Hendry will say no, so then the O's GM has to look at Leo Mazzone and his PC, and think that it would be smart to build around pitching first. So we can offer Hill, Williams, a reliever, and a position player prospect (probably Cedeno). Would that be enough? This is a scenario that having Pinto or Nolasco could really help. Levine was speculating Hill, Williams, Cedeno, and maybe Patterson would do it. I think that's all he said. He might have said another prospect too. I forget. If we pick up some salary, that might do it, but I think they'd want Pie. If Pie was the dealbreaker/maker, would you sub him for Corey?
  19. Personally I think it's foolish to compete with things like that. If you do your job correctly things will take care of themselves. The media are the only people using that White Sox/Cubs stuff. I doubt Hendry cares. Likewise, Angelos extracted a big chunk of money from MLB when they located the Nats there. I think that was the extent of his concern.

  21. Did anyone else hear the Levine report themselves?
  22. So who are you willing to give up? Zambrano or Prior? TBCF, why do you assume Baltimore would demand and get either? Hendry's said neither are being traded, so we're operating on the assumption that Hendry would try and trade a lot of young players.
  23. Baker really does change almost every scenario the Cubs could have.
  24. I think JH will save Williams for a trade for Vazquez. Why would we trade a cheaper player for a more xpensive player that's no better than the one we have?
