  1. I think his non statement said more than anything he said. This is really sad. Instead of firing the manager that can't handle pitchers or play young players, you're going to trade one of the pitchers he can't handle to aquire a player to fill a role that could be easily filled by one of the young players. It's like some sort of idiot bizarro logic.
  2. Mario Soto (my first Cubs game as a little kid was a game where Soto incited like 2 bench clearing brawls) Carlos Lee Moises Alou when he was an Astro Randy Johnson. I think the Cubs are hitting -.233 against him. Eric Davis
  3. See, that's just funny! And true. I kept waiting for the inevitable "Kerry should close in Texas and he's from Texas so therefore Texaswill want him" argument.
  4. If the question is "Who can we add to the current rotation", my answer is Santana.
  5. What starter are they going to aquire that would be better than their top 2? There's almost no chance that the team won't be worse after dealing Prior or Z. I just don't get how stupid this all is. It's like everyone is taking crazy pills.
  6. I would choose either Carlos Zambrano or Johan Santana.
  7. I hate Phil Rogers and anyone else who suggests trading Z.
  8. If there was an impact PF or C available via trade, I would trade Gordon and a pick for him right now. Gordon is a great scorer, but he's awful defensively, and he turns the ball over WAY too often for my tastes. I'd sooner deal him than any player on the team, because you'd get a lot in return, and I don't think you'd miss Gordon as much as you think.
  9. Tim, If a deal goes down we can just use the emergency site, right? that would save you some time clearing out the chaff.
  10. If Hendry is so dead set on getting rid of Prior, then they should deal him to Boston for Manny and Arroyo. But having said that, I think whoever has Hendry's cell phone service should shut off his phone for a couple weeks, and cancel his email, too. Make him unreachable. Keep him away from phones, if he's going to shop Prior. Maybe he is trying to Dusty Proof the team, but I just cannot believe he'd weaken the biggest strength on the team just because he's afraid Baker won't play Cedeno AND Murton. If this was such a problem, then why be an idiot and sign Perez, just to end up having to deal your 24 year old ace starter because your manager is bloody stupid? If he's panicking because he hasn't really improved the offense, then why weaken the strength you have left to do so? It doesn't make sense. There's no rational reason to be shopping Prior for anything less than a top 5 player in baseball.
  11. If this trade happens, at some point the Cubs need a three-way trade centered on sending Wood to Texas (as a closer) and having the Dodgers send the Cubs Lowe. Good luck with that Wood trade. You'd have better luck trying to fold a piece of paper 8 times. He's not going to be traded. He's coming off an arm surgery, his best value is as a starter anyway, and he has a Full. No. Trade.Clause. He's not going to uproot his family and pregnant wife to go pitch for Texas, unless they offer hin an extension, which they'd be crazy to do, given his injury history. A trade to Texas isn't so far-fetched. He grew up in the DFW area. So what? He lives in Arizona and Chicago now. Just because he grew up somewhere doesn't mean he'd want to go there. And just because he's local doesn't mean Texas wants him. The fact that he's from Texas is just about the only reason anyone ever uses to justify sending Wood there. It ignores the realities of Wood's value, contract status, and injury history.

  15. Just wait until you see what I've already written for Tree at the Peoria Caravan. It'll be even better if this trade goes down.
  16. This has got to stop. It's like a neverending nightmare.
  17. Then move on and look elsewhere for help. Current Cubs + Tejada - Prior does not = champion. So there's no point in making the deal. Exactly. No deal is better than a terrible deal.
  18. Give credit where credit is due....I posted it this morning :P
  19. Now there's a Boston Globe wire report (according to WSCR) that has a 4 way deal with the Cubs and White Sox, Red Sox and O's. Supposedly we'd get Tejada and Garland.
  20. Yea...can you believe we are breaking up the dynasty that has been the Chicago Cubs? Cant seem to recollect our record last year for the life of me. ' You don't take your biggest strength and only way you have to contend and make it a question mark for a debatable upgrade offensively. It's robbing Peter to pay Paul, and it's a move that will be regretted for far longer than any of us can imagine.
  21. Wake up USS...it's only a dream!!! I'm hoping it's just some sleep deprived side effect or something.
  22. The only way these rumors could get worse is if the Cubs dealt Z. I would riot.
  23. Depending on how much salary we'd have to pick up, it's entirely possible that we'd be swapping out Bedard for Prior.
