  1. They've been pants since Alexis Sanchez came back into the side. Campbell isn't as good, but the team played a hell of a lot better with him in it.
  2. LOL Manchester United. Consonant FC just scored to go up 3-1 on aggregate. Now they need 2 just to force AET.
  3. I'm not really good for these types of evaluations, but peak Howard was probably close to that point, right? Bit of a different situation as keeper though. Peak Howard? Maybe, yeah. Although even he was never a top 10 guy in his prime. Elite athleticism. Poor technique. Off top of my head, Buffon, Cech, Casillas, Van der Saar, Lloris, Neuer and Valdes were all better than he was during his prime. He's in that next tier. Peak Friedel was better than peak Howard in any event, and its a shame we wasted the 2006 cycle on Keller, who was the third best keeper in the pool by the time WC06 rolled around.
  4. -Bradley's not even in the top 5 for greatest US players ever. -Our top two (Donovan and Dempsey) were above-average players when looked at through a global lens. Good-to occasionally great. We haven't ever had a world class, transcendent player that could just walk into any of the top 10 teams.
  5. The broadcast team said that the ref was 32 and had almost zero senior pro experience; the best thing on his resume was reffing a U17 Youth World Cup game. And it showed; it's like persistent infringement wasn't a thing anymore. I think CA and Seattle ended with two yellow's each, which is ridiculous based on the amount of tactical fouling CA was doing.
  6. Clint again. It's almost as though he's still the best attacking player in the pool. Eh, Jurgen?
  7. Clint had a strong first half, but no way should Evans and Marshall be playing a high line in general, let alone at the end of the half.
  8. On paper, DC has the best shot and Seattle the worst. I'd say one team advances. Seattle has the strongest team but the strongest opponent. RSL isn't very good anymore, especially defensively. LAG might be a train wreck this year with the 2006 World Cup all stars. So smart money has DC advancing
  9. And using 2014 as their reasoning. With any other coach, I'd be very confident in beating Costa Rica and Paraguay at home. Not with this coach. We've been ass in meaningful games for nearly 2 years. Our last (nearly) complete performance was Portugal, and you have to ignore the final 5 minutes of coaching boners to count that. I don't see us generating nearly enough in the final third to beat Colombia or Paraguay, and CRC may be struggling, but on form they are at least not any worse than we are.
  10. It sucks listening and reading people trying to talk their way into the US advancing out of the group.
  11. Manchester United are really, really bad. They've spent so much money and are currently losing to a team with one vowel and 22 consonants in its name.
  12. The Fire traded Shipp to Montreal for some magic beans. Worst organization in the league, except maaaaaybe Colorado. Homegrown, local player who loves playing here? Better trade him.
  13. Morris better be the truth.
  14. That second yellow was a foul, but never near a second yellow. An actual ref pulls him aside and gives him a warning but to change the game for something that Ricky tack is nonsense. In the first 10 minutes of the second half Atkinson gave LCFC 4 yellows including the two to Simpson, and denied Mahrez a PK that might have been a clearer PK than Vardy's. I hate it when officials make themselves the story. I don't disagree on Wasilewski's foul at the end. That was a dumb, dumb foul. Unrelated: Kolo Toure is kind of fat. It looks like Liverpool let a 40 year old fan play CB for them.
  15. Garbage officiating
  16. Martin Atkinson ruined this Arsenal/Leicester game. Terrible second yellow.
  17. Morris and Besler and Bradley and Jozy can stay. The rest of the guys on the field just suck. Zardes has done nothing to warrant starting 20 straight games or whatever
  18. Jesus lord this lineup. What in the hell is the point of playing 6 guys out of position? And yet somehow Jones is still starting. When the dust settles, he will be the worst manager in our history.
  19. So I'm bored and therefore watching highlights of the 2010 R16 game against Ghana...that team was soooo good. They should have won that game
  20. Nguyen looked alright; I think if JK gave him a consistent runout at that AM spot he'd be a very useful piece in qualifying. You can't expect him to be any use tracking back, though, which is a bit of an issue since he's not so good offensively that you can afford to rely on him against good opposition. Morris moves really well off the ball; he really stands out given how static we usually are. Far better than anyone else on the field. He's going to be a really interesting player. I think Kiesewitter is terrible and has zero future for us internationally. That being said, he delivered two good crosses that should have resulted in goals, and fell down to draw the free kick Birnbaum scored on. Finlay looked ordinary. Birnbaum was poor defensively, but that header was really good. Acosta was caught ball watching on Iceland's first. Otherwise, I thought he was solid. Nagbe should have scored. Otherwise he was quiet. I would have really liked to have seen Trapp start with Bradley. I rate Wil; he could be a good DM. I'm really disappointed
  21. And he starts. Beautiful.
  22. So Clint tears up a red card, gets suspended and loses his captaincy. Jones goes after a ref, gets a larger suspension, and not only gets called into camp and will probably play today thanks to the technicality of him not having a club team. No consequences for him from Jurgen. Got to love our totally unbiased coach.
  23. Pulisic is a special player. Probably the best U-20 prospect, including Miazga. He looks sharp and quick to turn upfield and attack. Keep him away from Jurgen.
  24. I told you guys he wasn't signing for Bremen. That was all about placating out lunatic idiot NT manager
  25. Nantes already shot them down and they now appear to moving towards Tim Howard. Which tells you how incompetent the Rapids FO is. They have Clint Irwin and just traded for Zac Macmath. Both of those guys are probably better than Tim Howard is, right now, and cost a fraction of what it would take, not to mention how effing dumb it would be to waste a NT allocation spot on a fricking keeper.
