  1. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=58762&p=2718769&hilit=+folding+chair+#p2718769 I wanted actually proven players over Cespedes and, to a lesser degree, Soler, but we've instead taken the bold move of neither signing established stars when they were available for only money, or signing longer term, potential guys like the two Cubans (who I didn't want). The logic that's been tossed around about "oh god, that contract sucks I'm glad we didn't sign the best players available in FA the past 3 offseasons" is specious and terrible, and the "we're going to compete on parallel fronts" thing was bs as well, and the "we're not going to overpay Fielder and Pujols because we're going to go after the Cubans and reload for 2013 and beyond" thing looks like it's worked out splendidly to cap it all off. I see us sucking for the next two years at least.
  2. I'm glad we still aren't signing anyone who's any good. What would the fun in that be?
  3. For field players, absolutely. Mikey had the 20 goal Eredivisie season, but that's sorta like the PCL of Europe, right? Deuce is going to get 20 goals for a mid table EPL side. That's unprecedented. He's single handedly kept Fulham out of relegation this season. Without him, they'd be screwed. He's the only guy you have to game plan and try and mark out of a game, and he's still scoring and creating like mad.
  4. Hope you're enjoying the painkiller fog after that, Wolfie They called that an own goal. Horseshit. The keeper got a touch before it went off the bar and off his back; that's a goal. They'd better change that, since that was a bomb. Landon's pass to set up Everton's 2nd was pretty great. I can't wait to see Clint and Landon finally on the field together against Italy. Suarez is a complete wank-Evra running right past him to celebrate after the game was pretty funny, but Evra running right at Suarez and nearly wrecking Rio Ferdinand thirty seconds in was even better.
  5. hahahahhaha
  6. Jeremy Lin just dropped 38. Wow
  7. I'm actually enjoying how Asian Tebow is making New Yorkers piss themselves with excitement.
  8. From what I gather, the 2016 invite would be as a guest team, and we'd host some 1st round games here. I don't think that permanently scrapping the Gold Cup is going to happen, for a ton of reasons.
  9. So within the past week LA added Juninho and Edson Buddle back from 2 Bundesliga....that team might not lose a game. EDIT: Just realized they lose Beckham for 6 weeks, since he's going to captain the Great Britian Olympic team, Keane for a month or so for the Euros, and Landon to qualifiers. Still, though, their starting front 6 is nuts, and if Gonzo weren't hurt they'd be damn near unbeatable.
  10. It's a loan agreement with Stabaek, with an option for a permanent transfer. BTW, I watched part of the pc, and that guy doesn't "sound" very American  I'll keep you posted on how he does over here. His mom is American, from AZ. I see big things for him, actually. I see in him some of the same stuff I saw in Clint back in 2005-creative, willing to take on defenders. The difference is that Mix's technical skill is far better than Clint's was at the same stage. He's also pretty witty. He posts in his own thread on BigSoccer, and he's a pretty cool guy from all accounts. OT, but what the hell happened to Fernando Torres? He had a great look straight on goal from the top of the "D", on the dribble, and his shot went about 20 yards wide. He looks worse than a rec league player.
  11. Mix Diskerud to Gent. Looking forward to this.
  12. That's just how Bob talks. Sort of a crappy Jerseyish accent. I defy anyone to name a bigger douche than John Terry
  13. -Bob and wife marching in the protest today was a ballsy move. That family is tough as nails -Clint is the best player in CONCACAF.
  14. Randy Lerner: owner of two horrid teams: Cleveland Browns and Aston Villa FC
  15. Our guys should be better than resorting to taking money to play in a third world cesspool like Russia or Ukraine.
  16. I doubt Deuce moves his family out of London. For me it's either Arsenal or he stays at Fulham. I would [expletive] love to see him at Arsenal. I would order the jersey the day of the signing. Me too. It's a Nike team as well, so it makes some sense there. I just don't see any other realistic suitors. He won't leave Fulham unless he's going to get Champions League play out of it, and he's never indicated a desire to leave London. Clint quashed the PSG stuff because he didn't want to uproot his kids. I don't see either Manchester side springing for him, Liverpool won't be in the Champions League for at least one more season, and I don't see him at Chelsea. That leaves either Spurs or Arsenal. He's a far better buy for Arsenal than Spurs for a lot of reasons.
  17. I doubt Deuce moves his family out of London. For me it's either Arsenal or he stays at Fulham. As a sports fan used to North American sports, it still boggles my mind that London can support 5 (!!) soccer teams playing in the same league. It's actually potentially more than that. Charlton and West Ham are in London, and have been in the Premiership pretty recently. London is a massive city, though.
  18. I doubt Deuce moves his family out of London. For me it's either Arsenal or he stays at Fulham.
  19. Referees are awful
  20. Holy balls, what a terrible kick.
  21. Best season for an American abroad?
  22. Tampa was getting hyped as a potential London favorite due in part to their owners' ties to EPL. But now the Rams are going three years in a row over there. There's already been whispers of them moving back to LA, and we've heard talk of a potential London based team on the horizon. Agreeing to this situation seems increase the chances of that franchise being on the move. Sounds like it. Which would leave St. Louis a 2 sport town. If that, the Blues are about to be sold as well. The guy buying the Blues isn't going to move the Blues anywhere
  23. I'm...not really a fan of that. It looks off, like there's a faux necktie.
  24. What day does Braun report? Awesome.
  25. Well, this is what happens when essentially a rookie QB goes on the road in the playoffs with limited offensive weapons.
