  1. I think that this will be 100% correct. Cubs won't sign any new big-named free agents. Of course, this doesn't take into account the big trade to get Miguel Cabrera (RF) and Dontrelle Willis (SP) from the Marlins. Or the trade to get ARod (SS) from the Yankees for Jones and others. Or the trade to get the resurgent (see 2004 versions of) Marcus Giles (2B) and Tim Hudson (SP) from Atlanta. You forgot the Tejada trade, silly.
  2. Are you serious? Feliz, Wright, Rolen, Zimmerman > Ramirez. And how did you come to that conclusion? Because it's mostly true. Although I'd argue that Wright is not quite ahead of him yet, and I'm not all that keen on Feliz.
  3. Huh? He was really good with the Mets. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/benitar01.shtml Edit: Benitez has a career ERA+ of 147 to Alfonseca's 106.
  4. I like it. I'd like to see MLB expand openers to more countries.
  5. I was going to ask where the event was taking place, then I went back and re-read the list of those who are appearing.
  6. I want a bench with guys who can hit, and the only late inning defensive replacements I like is when one of those guys is starting for a game and gets sent back to the bench so the regular starter can finish the game. Defensive shortcomings are more often than not extremely exaggerated.
  7. You have to lose 13 or more to suck.
  8. They should release that bum.
  9. It doesn't get much more ignorant than this. that was a laugh out louder, goony. but i'm still firmly in the "requiring a starter" camp, though. make no mistake, retart. Thanks, I just had some of my Coca-Cola shoot out of my nose. Pedro had a Coke and a smile. The smile definitely came before the Coke. That crap burns on the way out.
  10. I guess so. Mr. Bruce is now with the Giants.

  12. I'm getting really confused trying to read what you have posted, but I think you said Liriano and Kazmir were not better than Dontrelle right now. Check again.
  13. Zito's free agent contract offers have absolutely nothing to do with how much talent it would cost to get Willis in a trade. Financial cost and player talent cost are not one in the same. The fact that Willis is going to soon cost Florida more than they can afford actually decreases his trade value, because they pretty much have to trade him. I agree. If anything, Zito's next contract would lower the demands for Dontrelle.
  14. I've never understood those Canadian exchange rates.
  15. What about Tanaka? He was pretty good http://majorleague3.warnerbros.com/img/ishibashi.jpg We already have Murton.
  16. Pardon me for assuming you had another account previously.
  17. He was really good last year (2005), but barely average the year before, and just slightly above average this past season (2006). Being on a "bad" team (83-79) was not the only reason he didn't win.
  18. I would hope not. I haven't seen any posts from him that warrant that. What about this one?
  19. I've said it every election, but it's well worth repeating for any new candidates out there: MY VOTE IS FOR SALE!
  20. I doubt it'll happen shortly. Depends on your interpretation of, "shortly". . Well, when I think of baseball transactions taking place shortly, I'm thinking within a week, or two at the most. Oh, ok. I was thinking "short" as in relative terms of the universe. . Well, I guess anything could happen in the next million years. Even you saying 3 nice things about Hendry?
  21. Let's hope he's more of an athlete and less of a doctor than Craig Krenzel. Craig Krenzel was exactly 0 parts athlete.
