  1. Just a warning, if that 8th pick doesn't get here soon, you'll have to wait a couple hours.
  2. Ben Sheets and his 2004 line of 264 SO and 32 BB in 237 innings would like to disagree. Curt Schilling says hi.
  3. Why didn't you just name her Ryne? Doesn't George Foreman have like 11 kids named George?
  4. Actually, that's exactly how the closer was invented. When the game was on the line the closer came in and finished the game from there. Guys like Bruce Sutter and Kent Tekulve would routinely pitch 2-3 innings. Of course back then SP threw a lot more complete games. Thanks for making me feel old. Your user name should be enough to make you feel old.
  5. Prior would have to revert to his former self for this to become an issue. If he just makes little strides at AAA, he'll just be getting to the same level of effectiveness as Marquis and Miller. He's got a lot of work to do. However, if he can revert to anywhere near his former self, they will open a spot for him. They'd probably deal Miller.
  6. Still no pitcher for AZ? Maybe we can hit off tees.
  7. 2nd, a game behind the Pirates
  8. I'm sure Andy was a nice guy and all, but just about anyone could have replaced him.
  9. Are you referring to the Corey Patterson that would get spooked by the wall that was 10 feet away and make no attempt to catch the ball? Man that guy was a headcase. I'm glad someone pointed out that this happened. The man made zero attempts to catch balls at the wall. Remember that one time when a pop fly made him drift back and he just curled up in a ball and started crying?
  10. What's the point of this thread?
  11. Why? He is offering a hometown discount and getting more money than pitchers like Carpenter/Oswalt did. Oswalt's contract is not even close to market rate. Just because one or two guys got screwed doesn't mean the entire market will shift downwards. They're not getting screwed.
  12. I don't like any of them, and I won't listen to any of them anymore.
  13. I don't read your posts, yet I enjoy looking at the picture of the girl. Just had to get that out. Thanks I guess. Glad to know you don't read what I type. Sorry, what was that? I wasn't paying attention.
  14. Larry Birkhead and Howard K Stern are already fighting over them.
  15. hahaha me too. Funny, I have me playing SS.
  16. What I got from AZ Phil was that Alfonso Soriano's defense in CF is going to make us miss Juan Pierre. Yeesh. And Cliff Floyd's probably should be DHing in the AL. Alfonso could play with his glove on the wrong hand and I still won't miss Slappy. Plus you have to figure that Soriano will show some improvement as the season progresses. Not so much with JP.

  18. I wish I was a real estate billionaire.
  19. Didn't it take him about 45 years to get there?
  20. I don't mean to sound like an ass, but I didn't understand a single thing from your original post.
  21. I think it's funnier when Jake's all upset about how much they suck. Plus, it's nice when we're not behind them in the standings.
  22. I know Carr is from California, but if he willingly goes to Oakland with a worse O-line than Houston had then he truely had the sense beat out of him. Miami is clearly very interested and that would be a much better situation for him. Plus the Miami team as a whole is in a much better place.
  23. What makes Walker more valuable than Ward? Ward had the better year last year by far. Before that, Walker had the better years-but if Ward regresses back to his usual year and Walker keeps declining, then Ward will likely be slightly better. Both can play 3 positions-Walker the 3 in the infield, Ward the two in the OF and 1B. What is there to justify eating a million by dropping Ward and signing Walker? Please read what I wrote. I said, pretty clearly, that it was worth considering. I did not say that Walker was better than Ward. You should always look to improve your team, and if Walker is an upgrade, then it might be worth it. I remember Walker being really bad as a pinch hitter for us though. I don't see the value in him right now for us. There are no guarantees of Ward repeating last year. Pinch hitting numbers aren't very reliable in predicting future performance.
