  1. Thanks. By the way, I read your article today to be somewhat of a Dear Santa [Hendry] letter. I don't know if that was intended, but that's what I got. :)
  2. I don't recall there ever being a Hill/Dunn trade being discussed. I do recall a comment from Bruce Miles that Hendry valued Hill so much, that he wouldn't trade him for Dunn, but that's all I recall. Refresh my memory on the proposed Dunn trade that would have included Rich Hill. That was last year. Hill is no longer an untouchable. Music to my ears. Any chance that means he might be heading to Baltimore?
  3. Injuries are injuries. Hints are hints. Record books are record books. What it boils down to is this: If player A misses 75 games per year because he has chronic problems with X, and player B misses 75 games per year because he doesn't have the durability to withstand whatever may happen to him, THEY ARE BOTH MISSING 75 GAMES EACH YEAR. Regardless of the types of injuries, both show a history of not being able to stay healthy. And I'll echo what OleMissCub said. He seems to be fragile and undependable. Add that to his questionable character, and I'll pass. Someone with a chronic problem can at least seek preventative treatments. Let's go back to Nomar's groin. How was that a chronic problem? Has he had a history of his groin becoming detached? I don't recall hearing that about him before, maybe I'm wrong. And what happened with Bradley last year? What was so superior about him and his time off that enabled him to play in an astonishing 13 more games than Nomar?
  4. Maybe a couple of years prior, but I think he proved that to be a myth in '05. Home: 331/386/527/913 Away: 330/384/500/884 Now show the three year averages... I've already agreed with you on the years prior. The numbers he put up last year are far too consistent to be considered a fluke. The guy is good.

  6. Young, Jeter, Peralta Peralta can't even spell his own name right. :)
  7. The part you are refusing to believe here is that it absolutely in no way matters how the injuries take place. Period. The fact that neither can stay healthy means they are both injury risks. And yes Nomar's groin was torn away while Bradley's stayed in tact last year. What was the end result? Bradley played in 13 more games than Nomar in 2005. Color me impressed.
  8. I'd even throw in Brownlie just because.
  9. that might be an issue if Rondell had Perez's bat, but he doesnt. White is a good hitter when healthy...we NEED bats Rondell can flat-out mash the ball. He has one of the quickest bats I have ever seen, and he actually turns that bat speed into impressive numbers. He had an OPS near 900 with us, and it's 815 for his career. I don't know how he likes the bench role, but it may be the only way for him to stay healthy for an entire season.
  10. I wonder if that's his way of saying the Yanks could have him if they sent ARod or Jeter back?
  11. Nomar's played 142 games the last 2 years. Bradley has played 216. Nomar is a sidearming SS, and Bradley is a well above average defensive CF. I think Bradley would make a much easier transition there than Nomar. It really doesn't matter considering we would need to find a viable replacement for either when they were on the DL for a month or two. Bradley is an injury risk just as much as Nomar is an injury risk. Neither can stay healthy for an entire season, who cares if Milty has played in more games the past couple (including the whopping 75 this past season)?
  12. I think this is all a moot point. Even if Hendry was crazy enough to construct a deal in which Aramis was going to be dealt, I think MacPhail or above would put the brakes on it unless ARod and salary relief were somehow also arriving with Miggy. Edit: Now THAT would be a nice lineup.
  13. It's a sad commentary when types of injuries need to be scrutinized in order to determine his overall risk, especially when his injury history takes a back seat to his character. If taking a gamble on an offensive threat with a history of injuries was something worth taking, why wasn't Nomar brought back? At least he has always been well respected by fans and teammates, and he is a dominating offensive presence when healthy. And don't give me any garbage about Nomar not being a RF. Neither is Bradley.
  14. If this one has any legs, then giddyup...
  15. Are you kidding me? Erstand can't hold Lee's jock. Since 2001 his highest OPS has been .746, and only one other time has it been above .700. Seriously. Erstad would be trying to hold Barrett's jock in that lineup. He was referring to the #3 hitter for LAA (Vlad) vs. our #3 hitter (Lee).
  16. I was wondering if anyone would comment. Yep.
  17. C'mon, he's a Cards fan. He just doesn't know any better. :D I agree with you completely. The guy's our best offensive player by quite a bit, in my opinion. And I will hold that opinion until Lee can show me that 2005 was not a fluke.
  18. Maybe, maybe not. Corey's probably never going to become a "great" player in Chicago, but I envision him to be more of that 772 OPS guy (2004) than the 602 OPS we saw this past season.
  19. ...if you get a full season out of ARam ARam will play in more than 162 games next season, all in a Cubs uniform. Miggy T will be next to him in every single one of those games.
  20. I have yet to see enough of Murton to make a decision, but I think if Alou was still here and you asked about Alou/White/Pierre, that's a no-brainer.
  21. If Tejada is a Cub AND Walker stays to play 2nd, then I could definitely live with Corey and hope he pans out in right.
  22. Wow, what a list. I'd love to see Julio play into his 50's.
  23. Anyone know who the oldest major leaguer was? I'll guess it wasn't Sandberg! I believe that would be Satchell Paige, who pitched at the tender age of 59. I'm pretty sure you're right. He was also the oldest "rookie" at the age of 42.
