  1. Yes, but it appears as though I loved Nomar more than most...
  2. I think I'd do that even if Williams was included.
  3. OK, anyone else out there hear this for cryin out loud???
  4. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark.
  5. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark. Dallas Clark.
  6. ... I didn't get to listen but did Bruce really say "no chance" in these scenarios? No, was in a hurry...he said that the management in TB move very slowly and Huff has been put on the back, back, back burner. IN other words, no real chance at getting him. He also said that the Dodgers GM isn't very friendly with Dusty so the odds of him dealing with the Cubs are pretty much slim to none. In other words, no real chance of getting him. Maybe Coletti hates Dusty so much he'd send Drew for Corey AND pay his salary. That'd teach that old stubborn...
  7. Clemens. 1 year of Clemens would be equivalent to 5+ years of Burnett highlights.
  8. Lovie will stick with Orton and learn a lesson the hard way. Bears lose the division, and miss the wild card based on their head-to-head loss to the Falcons this week.
  9. Not saying he has great range, but (with Todd) we're talking about replacing a player (I like him but..) who might have the WORST range at 2b in all of baseball. Miller's not that bad...is he??? Are you buying the company line of how terrible Walker supposedly is at defense? Have you ever seen Jeff Kent out there? Didn't Kent win a Golden Globe while with the Giants? Yes, I loved him in Chips.
  10. Ignoring the injury, he actually put up pretty good numbers in his first stint: 295/403/448/851 in 2001 266/355/402/757 in 2002 after a horrendously slow start
  11. Not saying he has great range, but (with Todd) we're talking about replacing a player (I like him but..) who might have the WORST range at 2b in all of baseball. Miller's not that bad...is he??? If you go strictly by zone rating, Marcus Giles and Craig Biggio were both worse than Walker last year.
  12. He really hasn't played enough games there in his career to warrant the criticism. Sure, he has a 964 fielding pct at 2B, but there are less than 200 total chances (53 games over 8 different seasons). He is too good defensively to not improve on those numbers.
  13. If Walk is dealt, I'd love to have Mueller at 2nd.
  14. Scott Bullett and Ozzie Timmons: get ready for that ST invite...
  15. Yeah, but it's not like he asked for that NTC clause to stay in AZ. If you recall, he got that from the Dodgers, and was less than enthused about going to Arizona. As someone else mentioned, he's from around the Chicago area, I don't think he'd put up too much resistance to come to Chicago. Actually it is an AZ thing. His limited NTC will allow trades to the Angels, Padres, and Dodgers.
  16. Yeah, I have a tough time seeing the organization outright giving up on him, but who knows. Did you see my earlier post in this thread CPatt? Indeed, I never would've guessed my Buccaneers allegiance would've saved me here. So, when (if) Patterson is gone, are you changing your screen name? You could change it to promote your love for the Buccaneers, say something like "My Buccaneers are on the sides of my Buccanhead". I guess that might be too long.
  17. I could live with that :D Come to think of it, so would I (as long as Neifi bats 8th).
  18. Did he say anything interesting? Who, Bruce or Murph?
  19. Man Ram, but it'll cost us Cedeno putting Neifi at SS.
  20. When healthy, Nomar produces enough for anywhere you put him.
  21. Just by taking the time to write out these 3 questions, you have in fact, spent more time on the RF issue... I think he would be available in the right package. Detroit doesn't look to be going anywhere anytime soon, and they're trying to play catchup with 3 teams ahead of them in their division. They need a lot of help. The only question about Maggs in terms of the price tag is his health. If healthy, he would be a huge upgrade in RF. With the past couple of seasons, that has become a really big if. If I could be convinced that his knee problems were no longer a concern, then yes, I would take him in a heartbeat. However, I would certainly not give up Pie and pay that salary uncertain if I would ever get more than 81 games out of him. Like I said, it just came to me, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it wasn't that long ago that he was the "best RF in Chicago" over Sosa. He's not too old, 32-33, he missed time last year with a hernia, not a knee and he has the upside to be the best available option. As an added bonus it would drive the Sox fans nuts if he came to Wrigley and returned to form. On the other hand, what if he blew out his knee in May? I think I'd be adverse to paying too much in the way of talent, but I'd take the gamble on the contract, (I think it's for 4 more years at around 10 per - but I could be wrong). Boy, it sure is easy to spend someone else's money. I didn't realize exactly how ugly his contract is: 06:$15M, 07:$12M, 08:$15M, 09:$18M, 10:$15M club option ($3M buyout), 11:$15M club option (no buyout) I'll change my opinion to: Hell no unless all it costs is CPatt, the Tigers pay at least 60% of that, 3 different specialists confirm his knee will not be a problem again, and he buys me a new car.
  22. It most definitely will be the offense. The best defense in the world is still vulnerable against top-notch offenses. Why? The defense must always react to what the offense is doing. The Bears may be able to beat Carolina or Tampa again, and they should compete with the Giants, but teams like the Falcons should give them fits, and I think Seattle would make them look silly. Even if they lucked into the Super Bowl, the Colts would absolutely destroy them (in a Super Bowl XX kind of score). A 1 dimensional team has an extremely hard time making it anywhere. See the Chiefs over the past few years.
