  1. Mabry scores, it's now 4-2 I'm concerned about Rusch and Williams but I think Jerome has a greater upside. Hopefully, they both will make some corrections in the regular season.
  2. A's have scored 4 runs... Murton with an RBI single 4-1
  3. It's interesting that the Cubs are giving Pie some ABs at a corner OF position. Who knows, they may move him if they sign Pierre longterm; it gives them the option of bringing him up to replace Jones or Murton plus, they have the flexibility to trade Jones if Pie blossoms... Of Course, his value isn't as great outside of CF but you never know.
  4. Kendell flied out Swisher with an RBI single (?) LOL, I missed some action listening to the other game. 2-0 A's
  5. I'm listening to this one on the'net and Pat and Ron on the radio. I don't think either game is on MLB.TV
  6. Ellison hits Willams first pitch for a homer. 1-0 Oakland
  7. Teixeira keeping up his good work from the WBC. :P
  8. Restovich is robbed of XBH at the wall. Inning over
  9. Jacque is batting third and gets a hit up the middle.
  10. Theriot leads off with a 4 pitch walk. Perez is batting second (lol). Theriot is caught stealing 2 to 4
  11. The DH (Walker) is being used in this game. Blanco is also catching with Murton in LF. I missed the rest of the lineup.
  12. I dont see today's game listed on MLBTV (yesterday's game is there).
  13. DLee won't get into another game until around mid-week. They want to give him sufficient rest. Rusch will be fine following the line drive off his shin. O'Neil says they will "treat it three times a day." He'll also use the bike instead of running. The Cubs have Prior shut down for 7 to 10 days. After which time they plan to re-evaluate his shoulder. They will treat the shoulder with the regular anti-inflammatory drugs, ultrasound, and low voltage shock therapy. Rothschild has also acknowledged that he and Prior plan to make a slight adjustment in his pitching form to prevent reaggravating the muscle.
  14. Len Kasper is in studio with Bruce Levine. Listen Live online Click "Other Local programming"
  15. Thestar.com Why is it that when pitchers on other teams shut down for 5 days they are then able to resume their normal throwing regimen but when a Cubs pitcher gets shut down like this they say he has lost arm strength and his progress gets pushed back about 2-3 weeks (e.g. - Mark Prior)? In all fairness, it isn't the same situation. Burnett was pitching in an actual game and Prior has yet to reach that point in his conditioning.
  16. No, it will be Zambrano, Rusch, and Maddux. The Cincy series is a two-gamer. So Maddux will open at home against STL followed by Williams and Zambrano.
  17. Let's not get all crazy because some of us don't trust the Cubs PR machine. The blog just explains the diagnosis not make it. Dr. Yocum made the diagnosis but he doesn't write the Cubs press releases and say there's nothing to worry about because it's just a muscle strain. He was asked his professional opinion. The media can seek him out independently. The Cubs don't have total control of this story thus, they aren't able to hide a more serious diagnosis. Not if they or Prior say it's about medical privacy. It has nothing to do with privacy; Dr. Yocum's diagnosis is already on record. Again, a renowned specialist isn't going to go on record with a "strain" diagnosis if he knows there is a more severe problem.
  18. That is true and it is pure speculation that he actually tore the muscle. However, if he really did tear it, calling it a "moderate strain" is not incorrect. It sounds better than saying he tore it, but it can mean the same thing. Right its just a different way to not say tear, which would stike fear into the fans. Very possible. In either case, the word tear doesn't necessarily mean there is a serious problem. Weight lifters "tear" their muscles, everytime they workout inorder to make them larger.

  20. Let's not get all crazy because of something on a blog. The insistence that Prior has a tear is speculation at best...We're not talking about the Cubs' team physicans (who might have a reason to spin the diagnosis). Dr Yocum would not risk his credibility to hide a more serious injury.
