  1. I think that's legit. DLee was batting .357 with three homers and eight RBI (only Griffey had more RBI-10) Lee, Griffey, and Jones had the only live bats in the lineup (from a power perspective). ARod's power game was missing and Teixeira was a horrible replacement for Lee.
  2. You don't feel the slightest twinge of regret that, Lee and Barrett coming back or not, Team USA just lost? To Team Mexico, no less? I feel bad for the US but don't diss the Mexican team. The US really didn't deserve the opportunity to play them tonight.
  3. Yeah, that's the good news. Barrett needs to get his ABs
  4. He can't do any vigorous activity for 48 hours.
  5. I haven't read the thread, so I don't know if it's already been reported, but the ESPN scroll says Bud hasn't decided if he's going to investigate Bond's.
  6. Chipper takes a walk Ayala is coming in to face ARod
  7. We know what they do when they want guys out. Apparently, they still haven't learned from Patterson and Sosa. I really don't understand the concept of destroying a guys value to the point he is worthless in trade. Unlike Sosa and Patterson, the Cubs tried to trade Walker before mentioning anything negative about him (and they got no takers). I think the Cubs inability to trade Walker has been predicated on his own reputation as a subpar defender. As it stands, the only team (Baltimore) that's rumored to be interested in him would prefer to use him as a DH. Then it stands to reason, IMO, that you don't trade a guy who currently has little to no trade value. You sit him down and work it out. He's still way better coming off the bench with his bat than he is playing for some other team. If he stays healthy and performs, his trade value would definately be higher at the deadline. But,he has said he will not be happy not starting and then being asked to later. Yeah, I got that idea as well. Here is an excerpt from the Suntimes Again, he should just be quiet and play because this sounds like he isn't a team player.
  8. If life was fair the US would have already been eliminated with losses to Korea and Japan. Instead, team Japan is holding its collective breath hoping Mexico wins this game.
  9. Teixeria should have stayed in Rangers camp. He hasn't been any kind of offensive threat!
  10. And that's where the bad case of pharyngitis comes in. Prior wasn't in ideal shape and his arm wasn't really ready when he reported to spring training. Granted, but this isn't the first time he's had problems in Spring Training.
  11. I already read that. Basically, Prior is a wuss. And they are treating him like a little girl. He's sore so there's gonna baby, and pamper him. Or a little boy Little boys are tough. They eat dirt. . . . well, at least mine does :) LOL, sure they are... psst, little girls eat dirt too.
  12. There's a fine line between being injured and having pain or discomfort. My point is, I'm not sure that he knows the difference between the two. There are pitchers with long careers that deal with ongoing pain. I'm trying not to be cynical however, I do recall Prior saying last year that he's going to have to learn to pitch through pain. I don't see any change. Here we go again I think he needs to do more in the offseason to get himself ready to pitch.

  14. I'm not so sure. I think Walker's most recent issues have lost him some points with the fans. I nolonger care if he stays. I just want a productive all around player;if he's here and productive so be it.
  15. Worst players get traded all the time. Worse defenders get traded all the time. I think the difference is the position. 2B is a key defensive spot. In reading Walker's quotes I get the idea that he sees a position change (1B) in his future if he plans to stay in the NL.
  16. The Cubs have rights to Prior through 2008 so barring a trade he will be here. I hope he gets a better handle on his pain tolerance because this is the second time that he has complained of serious (worth checking out on MRI) pain only to have the results come back negative. I'm not sure he knows the difference between injury and the regular discomfort that some, if not all, pitchers feel.

  18. To be honest, I heard Walker saying on the radio that he wasn't sure if it was heeled. It's hard for others to have confidence if he's not convinced.
  19. OMG, Winthrop could have tied it... Oh well, Tenn escapes
