  1. They play baseball in the AL? You caught me before I edited and yeah, they sure do.
  2. I'm a baseball fan who follows both the AL and NL. I grew up in Chicago, on the South side, and I have always been a Cubs fan. I dislike the White Sox much more than the Cardinals (and I'm sure the geographical distance plays a role...) however, I know the Cardinals are a bigger concern because they are a divisional foe. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of just ignoring the Sox because many of their fans are confrontational (and it didn't just happen as a result of winning a championship). If I'm minding my own business, while wear Cubs' gear, I become an easy target for unsolicited jeers. I still don't "care" about the Sox but given a choice, I would rather they lose (and I was rooting for Houston in the WS).
  3. I wonder why Prior was pushed back, and why there hasn't been any explanation given by the Cubs. It's like the Cubs were hoping no one would notice the change. I could be wrong, but I think they moved Prior back because the Twins pushed Bonser's start back a day. I don't think the Cubs ever wanted Prior to oppose Santana; I think they're trying to keep the pressure off him to be at his best while also giving themselves the best chance to win. Link
  4. FYI, Prior is definitely not pitching in this game. Cubs.com has now updated the article they had about Prior kicking off the series (it's now replaced with Marmol)
  5. I know for a fact that earlier today, Prior was listed as tomorrow's starter on Cubs.com. That's why I was wondering if the Cubs announced a change in the last hour...
  6. HAHAHAHA. On Saturday the Cubs will be facing a guy named Boof. LOL, yeah I saw that. Apparently, the Cubs want Prior to have a, seemingly, easier opponent. The switch also says something about what they feel about Marmol's abilities.
  7. Did the Cubs move Prior back a day? Cubs.com has Marmol's picture for the next game. Carlos is also featured in the probable starters section. If so, I like it.
  8. Calling someone a cigarette? Not in the US.
  9. did he really say something like this about Grimsley? I forgot about this beauty Marriotti penned on 6/11. Link
  10. He's an easy target because he's not well liked on either side of town (but he's had a longstanding feud with White Sox management, ownership, and broadcasters). Marriotti is hardly innocent but Guillen continuing to feed the gremlin shows a lack of good judgement in my opinion.
  11. You're all absolutely right about the derogatory sexual slurs. I'm not debating that at all. They have no place anywhere. But you know what? Someone decides to badmouth me in the newspaper, I'm going to use every swear word I can find. It may not be professional in the sports sense, but attacks upon a person don't have to be professional. Both of them just need to keep their traps shut if nothing productive is going to come out of them. did I miss something - did Mariotti say something about Guillen? If not, what gives him the obligation to open his mouth to defend an opposing manager? That is simply classless and really his comments are extraordinarily offensive. Guillen apparently has also made some criticisms of Ozzie and Chad Tracey or something...the Dusty thing was not the only trigger. This Marriotti article on 6/16 is what, I think, set off Guillen. Link
  12. Do you have to give up your seat for viewing the current Cubs meltdown? I guess it does not matter...since it happens EVERY YEAR. When "things turn sour" (I guess that means them not winning.....status quo in Cubland) it wont matter. They won it all. It would be wise for Cub fans to ignore the South side for the forseeable future. They actually have a shot of becoming the baseball team in this town (if they arent already). I would have thought that an impossibility a few years ago. Its now a probability. Complaining about anything down there is going to be rightfully viewed as jealousy and sour grapes. Save your venom for the Cubs front office. They deserve it. Since your response here seems personal I have to say that your pattern of telling others how they can feel about the Sox, Guillen, or anything short of the Cubs is really irritating. Your "they won it all" statement doesn't excuse the team or its manager from being professional. Please stop trying to be the mouth piece of Cubs fans by advising us where our focus should be. Oh jeesh man. Here is an idea. Ignore me if you dont agree with me. Im not trying to be the "mouth piece" for anyone....just spouting my opinion...like you are. Here's an idea, why don't you heed your own words the next time you feel like calling out Cubs fans (and a Cards fan) about the number of posts they have (on any subject) and the kind of opinions they hold. He said he was not a Cubs fan....I noted that he had 1000 posts. Seems unusuaual that a person would invest that amount of time in a team he is not a fan of. He certainly has the right to do it. Im not "calling" anyone out. If waiting "for things to go sour" on the southside....or berating Guillen because he called someone some names.....makes the current collossal mess of the Cubs situation....easier for you to handle.....then enjoy. FYI....Im Cubs fan for 40 years. I have no love for the White Sox or their manager. But I do give them credit for winning the World Series. You act like fans can only have an opinion about one team; which makes no sense. Guillen made the comments following last nights game so they are news worthy and have nothing to do with the status of the Cubs. Also, if you think I'm sitting around being preoccupied by the Sox, you're mistaken. That doesn't mean I can't have a legitimate opinion about them and their manager (and frankly, I don't need someone telling me that I can't talk about it because I'm a fan of another team)... It's one thing to say you weren't offended it's another thing to say that those of us that didn't like it shouldn't comment or to presume that all of our responses are rooted in "jealousy."

  15. The Cubs aren't going anywhere this season so I have to say "Go Cards." Unfortunately, sucky Mulder is on the mound tonight. Thankfully, the Tigers are beating up on the Brewers.
  16. This game was over before the second out was recorded in the first inning. He's just trying to speed things along. lol
  17. Hey, I just realized something, this team is farrrrrr worse than any Cubs team I've seen in my lifetime. These fools might lose more than 100 games.
  18. Novoa is pitching well... How does Rogers get a double? Give me a break!
  19. Did he use the B word or did I hear it wrong? WTH did that mean? It's an Entourage thing. He says it on there all the time. Ah, I don't watch it.
  20. Did he use the B word or did I hear it wrong? WTH did that mean?
  21. Unless they've moved it recently, WLS can be found at 890 AM, no? lol, that's what I meant to type.
  22. 7.80 for Rusch right now. He's at WBBM, he's passed WGN, long past WSCR, once he gets past WLS, he'll be at WMVP in no time I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE AM RADIO FREQUENCIES AND CALL LETTERS TO DESCRIBE A PITCHER'S ERA THIS IS SO WRONG I'll translate for the out-of-towners: WBBM= 780 AM WGN=720 AM WSCR= 670 AM WLS=820 AM WMVP=1000 AM (he's headed in this direction!)
  23. I believe Padilla hit hit once earlier in the season as well. Wasn't he on the mound, with the Angels, during the playoffs when AJP pulled that fake "I didn't strikeout" move then reached 1B? Padilla has a long memory. Texas acquired Padilla from the Phillies. Hmmm, you're right! Then it was someone else that plunked him, seemingly on purpose, earlier in the year. It's happened a few times.
