  1. we can do that?? for Braun i'm gonna put in...nevermind i don't have a single functioning player on my bench Yeah, if a guy sits out b/c he's hurt (or is going to), then you can replace him with another player. I didn't think you could add a FA to replace a hurt player unless the guy goes on the DL. But Adam picked up Lowrie to replace Simmons, so maybe you can.
  2. So we can pick up FA RPs and hitters any time on Sunday? I guess I still don't fully understand the add/drop rules. It's sort of whacky that a team benefits if a player gets hurt and they get to add a guy during the week. So if there's a hot player, I have to hope one of my guys goes on the DL so I can add the hot FA before Sunday or else someone else will get to pick him up. I also thought there was a waiver process that kicked in for all non-SPs and that's when you had to add those FAs. But it seems like as long as you add them after games start on Sunday, so it takes effect Monday, then that's ok? Maybe I'm just confused.
  3. No you cannot. Only injured players and starters. Who is switching RP's? Didn't lynx drop marmol and add another RP today?
  4. Am I missing something or are we allowed to freely add/drop RPs?
  5. Cespedes resting his sore elbow today (so much for that goal of being healthier this year). So I replaced him with Parra in my futile attempt at a comeback. He's hoping Cincy & Washington put up 10 runs each in the first inning.
  6. No it isn't. That makes no sense. If he lies it only makes it worse and forever buries his career. This isn't such a huge deal that he couldn't admit he should have punished him more harshly and worked his way back up to an AD job again. This will go away and other schools will love the money he got Rutgers more than this in a few years. But throw the university under the bus and lie about the process? He'd be done forever.
  7. Sounds like a bunch of double speak to me. He tries blaming "the process" but also admits he went along with the process. Not at all. He says he wanted to fire the guy but lawyers told he and the president that they didn't have absolute grounds to do so under school policy. Makes perfect sense. I guess if the president or someone comes back and attacks the truth of his letter that would cast some doubt. But that reads exactly like what you'd expect from an AD made to be the fall guy after he wasn't allowed to fire Rice.
  8. His resignation letter is pure awesome. Dr. Robert L. Barchi, President Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey 83 Somerset Street New Brunswick, NJ 08901-1281 Dear Dr. Barchi: I write in confirmation of our conversation earlier today during which we agreed that it was in the best interests of Rutgers University that I step down from my position as Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. I do so reluctantly because I always have and always will love Rutgers. I want to thank the people who have supported me throughout my years as a student-athlete and Athletic Director and help them understand my reasoning in this situation. My continued tenure as Athletic Director is no longer sustainable for the University which I attended and where a piece of me will always remain. In connection with the incidents involving former basketball Coach Mike Rice, as was the case with all other matters which I handled on behalf of the University, I always tried my best to do what is right. I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on the events which led to today. As you know, my first instincts when I saw the videotape of Coach Rice's behavior was to fire him immediately. However, Rutgers decided to follow a process involving university lawyers, human resources professionals, and outside counsel. Following review of the independent investigative report, the consensus was that university policy would not justify dismissal. I have admitted my role in, and regret for, that decision, and wish that I had the opportunity to go back and override it for the sake of everyone involved. I trust that my tenure at Rutgers will not be judged by this one incident. I am proud of my efforts to lead Rutgers into the Big Ten, and of all of the accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom and on the field of play. I want to thank our great fans, the hardest working staff in collegiate athletics, and every one of our fine student-athletes. It has been my great pleasure to serve my alma mater. Sincerely, Tim Pernetti Class of 1993
  9. that's a pretty good get for the colonel, his interviews are usually for the birds Hahaha
  10. does BJ Upton's case of the whiffs qualify as an injury so I can replace him?
  11. I think bc Minny had him on the DL. Remember last year someone had a guy in a certain position and hadn't moved him. Do he wasn't eligible for that position and couldn't put him back once he had taken him out. In sum: CBS sucks
  12. Owls gets Calvinball's 6th pick.
  13. Oh yeah. Did he play enough games at 3b last year?
  14. Your roster is kind of a mess. Do you have too many active players if you take him off the DL? You also need to bring Hicks up (though you can put Myers in the minors) and you need to take Morrow off the DL. It's mostly a weekly league (except SP) so since he wasn't injured to start the week, I don't know if you're allowed to get him in your lineup now.
  15. Yet Jarvis Jones is a top 5 pick. Is there any other mock in the last month that still has him that high? Bama ran at and over Jones all day.
  16. I think you have an inflated opinion of both Te'o and the 4-3 linebacker position in today's NFL. Argue all you want about Patterson but Te'o would have been a reach at 20. haha. You've got Brown and Ogletree going 1 and 3 spots ahead of where I think Te'o should be drafted. And I'm overrating the LB position? And the Bears need a MLB. I think you underrate Te'o. I certainly don't swear by Kiper, but it's not like I'm the only one who thinks he makes a lot of sense for the Bears. I can buy not being the top LB on their board, but if the other guys are gone, Te'o makes a lot more sense than Patterson.
  17. Didn't he die? too soon I don't know. He battled a lot but I think it was probably time for him to go.
  18. If the draft really works this way and the Bears pass on Te'o at a position of great need to draft, as a 3rd WR, a guy who's played 1 year of FBS football and only had 1 good game as a receiver against a decent team (Florida) and sucked against the rest of their good opponents (Bama, UGA, USC), I'm going to be so pissed.
  19. 4 bad starts today pretty much ends my chances in week 1. Damn.
  20. When did it become law that we had to pop or fly out on the second pitch of an AB?
  21. For a league with points assigned to try to properly evaluate actual performance, I find it weird that those things get any bonus. Maybe it's just me.
  22. Ohhhh, Edwin Jackson. That was my first reaction as well. Whelp, I'm missing something. Brent Jackson whiffs a lot
  23. I don't care if we're 10 games OVER .500, if we're 7 out of the last playoff spot, we better be selling. You think there are going to be 4 teams(assuming one of the other division leaders isn't ahead of both wild cards) 24 games over 500 on July 31st? Not sure that statement was to be taken quite so literally.
  24. I think jersey is right there. If we can take a prospect that the FO isn't terribly high on and turn him into a piece that might be useful bc we're on the fringe of a playoff spot, I can easily see that happening.
