  1. That's what I would do at this point. Play Hoff in RF and move Kos to CF. Edmonds had a nice run but he's been bad the past month or so. 808 OPS the last 28 days. I know this pretty much isn't the best way to look how bad Edmonds has been but I was going off of Yahoo fantasy. If you click on the last month for Edmonds it says as follows: 9/53AB .170 AVG 11R 2HR 6RBI very slight understatement
  2. I have nothing to add, but this should be quoted as much as possible. I...I don't have the words.
  3. Well, I am due for a physical...
  4. seriously, who is the best team in the big east? that's definitely going to be the tallest midget. It is down right now but the difference with the BE and the other BCS conferences is that a BE team will travel to a non BCS team while the others will not. WVU lost at ECU, USF went to UCF and won in OT in an emotional end of a series game. texas went to utep, minnesota went to bowling green, aTm went to new mexico, arkansas went to la-monroe, maryland went to middle tennessee st., texas tech went to nevada. that's 3 big east teams, 1 sec team, 1 big ten team and 1 acc team. last week va tech, mississippi st and boston college did it. next week ucla, arizona and wisconsin are doing it. so i'd say that whatever point you were trying to make isn't a good one. My point is EVERY BE team does it. Let me know when OSU, Penn St, Michigan, LSU, USC, Georgia do and it isn't on a neutral field. I don't know how you can knock OSU for this. They schedule 3 complete puffs every year, but they also schedule 1 big game - Texas a couple years ago, USC this and next year. PSU, Michigan, MSU, and Purdue play ND out of conference almost every year - not a tough game last year, but ask them how they liked it in 05/06. I don't think your argument holds any water here at all, actually. Did you actually read what I wrote? These teams do not go to a Mid-Major place and play there, unless you consider USC and Texas Mid-Majors. Oh, I mis-read it. I thought you were talking about traveling to tough opponents. I don't much care who travels to mid majors, I care more about overall strength of schedule and playing tough opponents out of conference when you have several weak ones in your conference.
  5. I wasn't trying to be exact - PSU doesn't play ND with the frequency of MSU, Purdue, and UM. But they've played a major program on the road recently, that's the point. I don't know if PSU is playing other major programs in the near future, I don't keep up on the future schedules of teams other than ND.
  6. They had a nice team last year and I knew WVU would have a tough time with them, congrats and keep on winning! Thanks! It looks like Terry Holland extended Skip just in time. I would think he could have cashed in on some serious money after this year. If he keeps it up for another year, some big program will buy him out soon, unless Skip really doesn't want to leave yet.

  8. what makes you say that?
  9. Ok, see your point, but as for symbolism....it's got it. another symbolic song: Patience by GNR Right band, but wrong song: Welcome to the Jungle.
  10. Yeah - shut those guys down. I mean, when's the last time they won a championship? Oh, never mind. Maybe we shouldn't throw stones...
  11. I don't get what's funny about this thread.
  12. Having five 2nd basemen on the field at once.
  13. why does that excite you? I dread AZ even more with Cub-killer Dunn.
  14. maybe after his contract is up in 2010 If they suck in '09 or '10, they might be willing to trade him to get rid of the $10m he's owed in 2010. But, Tampa is not going to suck in '09 or '10. nope, they are going to be scary good next year...especially if they make a few needed moves um...why in the world would you want pena? Sure, they might win a ton of games next year. But they're competing with the Sox and Yankees (not to mention Balt and BJays). They can not suck and still not make the playoffs. And I wasn't suggesting we get Pena, I was just throwing in my 2 cents. But someone might want him b/c he mashes RHP.
  15. I did not see this coming...
  16. Maybe he should talk to Z. When Z would get excited, he would overthrow and get hit hard when he was younger (still does it sometimes, though not as much). Z can dial his sinker up into the mid to high 90s if he wants to, but it straightens out. He really started dominating with it when he realized he needed to keep it around 90-92 to get the best effect from it. I wonder if the same lesson would apply to Samardzija... :-k Maybe as a starter to preserve strength. But as a reliever, he regularly gets a lot of movement on that 95 mph sinker. Not sure why you'd want to slow it down.
  17. Thanks, Jon. I'm going to be driving through Chicago the week after Labor Day. I'm going to try to catch the Wednesday game, if I can fit it in the schedule.

  19. Ichiro is having an awful year, by the way, does anyone know why? He's 34 and was vastly overrated in his prime anyway? His EqA is actually very close to his career average.
  20. I don't see that avatar anymore. uh huh, I did it... so you really will eventually go blind. Huh.
  21. Damnit. Saw Bob's Keeper's avatar again and got hooked. Only took me a few seconds of reading that list to realize that it wasn't Bob's Keeper though.
  22. 82 OPS+, EqA of .249. Those 58 SBs were just great, but he got caught 20 times as well. Had 204 hits but 526 outs. And a .330 OBP for a CF with no power and bad defense. Oh, you mentioned that .330 OBP - was that supposed to be a positive?
  23. Career OPS of .805 Year 1 - .600 in 2 AB's Year 2 - .738 in 234 AB This season he is OPSing .885 in 192 AB's so far. I gotta think he's a guy who if used properly (read: how he's been used this year) will consistently give you somewhere between what he did last year and what he's doing this year. A .775-.825 OPS bench/platoon guy is a pretty valuable piece to have considering how cheap he is right now. And man is he an improvement over the Gremlin and Neifi. Agreed. But as an everyday starter, I could see his production dropping way down. My brother is convinced he would hit .300 and slug .700 or .800 if he started everyday, which would probably NOT happen. Slug .800? Tell your brother I will bet him any amount of money he wants that Fontenot will not slug .700 or .800 for the rest of this season.
