  1. Tigers were targeting Victor Martinez just last week. Did the AL add 2 DH spots?
  2. Ideal? Maybe not. How many ideal candidates are there? I guess I'd prefer DePo in this role than to not have DePo in the front office at all (if I were a Mets fan). that seems like a bad analogy to me. If my choices were Hester only as a CB or no Hester at all, then pack your bags, Devin.
  3. oh dear god. i meant front office personnel below the GM.
  4. when you hire good people at the vp level of a mlb org, does it matter what the title is? besides, based on his blog, doesn't seem like a bad fit. Well, yeah, there's still a large bit of differentiation. Take Jim Hendry, he did a very good job on the player development side, and now that he has to do more than that he's not nearly as effective. DePo, for all his abilities, doesn't seem like an optimal match for the Scouting/Player Development role. Is Jim Hendry a VP? I didn't say GM level.
  5. You lost me here. some br articles can be interesting, just not factual
  6. that'll teach him to talk bad about Wrigley.

  8. btw - i didn't realize you were allowed to get pressure on a QB with just 4 players. That certainly makes playing defense a little easier. Now I can see why other teams have been doing it.
  9. that you know about
  10. He sure seems like an idiot on tv and Keith Law obviously doesn't think very highly of him. But he worked with a couple of heroes in the SABR world (in terms of guys in the front office that seem to get it) and was pretty quickly re-hired by one of them in NY. I guess I'd trust Alderson knows what he's doing.
  11. This goes without saying, but that's a much, much better list Is Rolen still a GG'r over there? Seemed less than impressive in the few games of his that I saw.
  12. I don't think my response is worthy of a 'wow, dude.' He alluded to Auburn probably needing to cheat to obtain a top 5 recruiting class, and I provided a defense. your post started with "pile on" and suggested omc (or others) was crucifying Auburn. Your post had a definite defensive tone. And yes, it's a little unusual that AU would suddenly land some real stud recruits coming off of last year. That doesn't mean they paid all their players, but it's interesting anyway.
  13. Stoops pre-success at OU isn't bringing the kind of talent to Iowa that he had/has at OU. For whatever reason, I just love Ferentz. I'd love to see what he could do with a bunch of 4/5-stars, but I like what he's got going. Then again, I've been an Iowa fan basically since birth, but they became my 2nd favorite team in the 80s. I never expect that they win a NC. I'd love for them to win the Rose Bowl pretty much every year, but I never expect them to go undefeated and I'm not crushed when they lose. So Ferentz is pretty much an ideal coach for that sort of program.
  14. He was in ND's care and they take responsibility. Not much different than what they've said all along.
  15. what makes bama more bulletproof than usc was 5 years ago? it might take a decade, but if Y! finds clear evidence and hammers on it over and over and over, eventually the ncaa will do something - after Saban has been given plenty of time to find himself a better gig.
  16. I love it....everyone called me insane when I suggested Michigan wouldnt make a bowl when they were 5-0. They told me this year was different than last year and UM was better. Now it comes down to beating Purdue, a team we lost to last year at home. I say its about 50-50 we beat Purdue, thus about 52% chance we make a bowl does purdue have anyone left on offense? or have all their injured starters returned and I just missed it?
  17. If you look at the bright side, I think I'm the 6th best baseball player to be born on 11/15.
  18. i got a ticket for going 72 in a 65 once. wasn't doing anything wrong besides that. i was not very happy. cop in my home town once pulled me over for doing 29 in a 25. He was also an [expletive] and there's nothing else to do. Nebraska is much the same.
  19. Unless something historically awful were to happen, like a 2-win season next year or something, he will get at least 3 years. But he has lost much of the fan base, including me, completely in the last 8 days. BS. If he wins 9 games next year, you'll be back. so will most the woe is me fan base. There's no way to know how many years Kelly will get at this point. How much deeper down the rabbit hole will UM go with Rich Rod before pulling that plug? If he wins 9 games next year, great. I always want Notre Dame to win. But I won't believe that him winning big is going to happen until I see it - and I don't think I'm going to see it. so when he loses, you'll say he's not good enough and when he wins big, you'll believe he can win big. is it comfy way out there on that limb?

  21. I'm sorry - how does a QB sustain a season ending, career-threatening knee injury on a [expletive] hit to the shoulder? I was sure he sustained a concussion on that shot. but blow out your knee? seriously?
  22. we've been saving our entire offense for Utah. Just wait until Kelly unleashes it in 2 weeks.
  23. No. 1 QB, RB, TE, NT and No. 2 WR. Good thing we have Longo Beach to keep everyone's knees and hammys strong all year long. Oh, and I like Tommy Rees.
  24. so if 2 games is zero tolerance, what does a guy have to do to miss like half the season? I guess whatever it takes for the police to lock him up for 7 weeks or so.
  25. what a blowhard
