  1. your inability or refusal to distinguish between having someone on your favorite team and wanting them cut into tiny pieces and shot into space is maybe as infuriating as your willingness to post pictures of a woman as justification for "IT WASN'T THAT BAD OF A CHOKING." Seriously, your post should horsefeathers off.
  2. how much do you think this increases the chances the cubs win the WS this year? how much would any move have increased our chances? I think this increases it as much or more than any other single possible move we could have realistically made. i think i agree with that, though i don't think i have much info about what trades could realistically have been made. i mean, if we were willing to deal schwarber, what options open up? i guess i just don't know how much this really moved the dial, in terms of this team winning anything. And if you can trade Torres for something that helps a little less this year but also helps next year and the next year, etc, is that better? I don't know, but I think maybe it is. Added bonus if that thing also doesn't choke women.
  3. I'm in no way disputing the actual talent of Chapman. Just the time we have him under control. Chapman the baseball player is an amazing addition and right up there with anybody we could have reasonably acquired. well sometimes you need to win the world series and not worry as much about winning the award for most team control. 90 percent of our team is controlled for the next half-decade. how much do you think this increases the chances the cubs win the WS this year?
  4. Since Tim isn't going to give us the downvote feature everyone wants, I think in the offseason we should have a contest for worst post of the year/all-time. I don't get it. Are we assuming the comment isn't tongue-in-cheek? chapman choked his girlfriend. so even assuming the joke is that shooting a gun a bunch of times doesn't constitute violence, wtf was his post trying to convey?
  5. you're tap dancing on the edge of some time off, so maybe time to rein it in a bit
  6. Yep, except Nightengale says its 4-1. Heyman's tweet says 4-1 and the SB Nation article citing Heyman says 3-1. ETA: Heyman said 4, SB Nation said 3-1 I wonder if there would have been a fourth player involved had Chapman signed an extension. Cubs might have told Yankees no extension = no fourth player. Maybe a fourth player is involved if the Cubs sign Chapman to an extension before he hits free agency? unlike tree, i hope we don't extend him. let him pitch, let us win our WS, and then then him walk. I really wish we hadn't traded for him. I thought I might have some excitement if it happened, but i have no excitement about this at all.

  8. mocking derwood is fun, but that's not exactly what I'd take to the bank as "news" Multiple national baseball journalists reporting the deal has been completed isn't news? and the two posts below yours were rightly questioning whether any of these are actually reporting a done deal or just piggybacking on others reporting the same info everyone has had without any indication that it's final.
  9. literally two posts up #ThatsOurDerwood mocking derwood is fun, but that's not exactly what I'd take to the bank as "news"
  10. if you're going to sign a guy that chokes women, don't you want him around for as long as possible? oh wait
  11. we're getting him for two months. and he's not the best reliever in the game. also, i will never be able to put aside the deplorable person he is, but that's a completely different issue. what's with all the nonsense about 2 months oh ye of little faith [tweet] [/tweet] glad we're taking our pointless distinctions to the masses. the point is obviously that you're getting him for a short amount of time, so, from the perspective of someone making that argument, his value is more limited. whether it's exactly 2 months or 3 months or 95 days isn't terribly relevant. It's 75-85 games, assuming a long playoff run.
  12. sheehan is underrated as a dumbass. he loves to pick issues and just harp on them forever. lately his fav is that schwarber is completely incapable of playing any defensive position and probably can't hit anyway. He's the same guy who wanted to be the Cubs contrarian going into this season based on the plexiglass crap, right? I always confuse him with another guy, so I'm not positive. I'm not sure where he got his reputation. i'm sure it's earned. but I can't remember ever being impressed by him.
  13. are there reports that Chapman is a clubhouse cancer? I thought the knock on him was choking his gf and shooting up a garage or whatever. Not that he's otherwise a bad teammate. I don't really want player feedback on whether he's a good addition. They want to win and he's a great pitcher, so that makes sense. But I'd still rather we not be adding a guy who just recently shot up a garage and choked his gf.
  14. Reminder - July 31 is the trade deadline. Now August 1st Abuck and Truffle - you each have a pitcher that's hit the 25 appearance limit. GHS - Devenski has to come up STI - Feliz has to come up
  15. boy, i wish there would have been some indication that he was a selfish horsefeathers. how does he hide it so well?
  16. Funky donuts are ruining a good thing. They are inedible. Same with cupcakes. KISS that doesn't mean that the shops who make the funky donuts (depending on which you're talking about is where i'd argue about what is being ruined) don't do an amazing job at simple it's a donut. of course they don't horsefeathers up a simple donut b/c it's really hard to horsefeathers up fried dough and sugar. If you're mostly known for putting cereal on a horsefeathering donut it's b/c your standard donuts aren't amazing (if they were, people wouldn't stand in line for an hour to buy a donut with horsefeathering cereal on it). The best donuts are consistently the local places that just make awesome horsefeathering donuts. KK are fine, but I pass up KK in the office almost every week. Someone rolls up with some maples bars from Original Bakery and I'll pull the fire alarm to get to the front of that line. Still never had a chocolate cinnamon roll as good as the ones in the local bakery in my hometown in middle of nowhere iowa.
  17. i read that as faceless porn Yikes. Look what Seattle does to someone. it didn't seem at all out of place for one of your posts. oh, sammy thinks of javy as porn. makes sense.
  18. HOW DARE YOU? i read that as faceless porn
  19. horsefeathers chapman. isn't there a less woman abusing pitcher available?
