  1. Can't wait to get down to AZ again this year.
  2. The contract seems like a really good deal for the tribe and would be for any team. Nonetheless, given that roster spots and money aren't unlimited, I'm not losing any sleep over the cubs not signing him.
  3. Bourn would've helped this team as much as he would've helped any team that he'd play the same amount of time for. It's about how many runs he contributes (both offensively and defensively). Worrying about how is splitting hairs. It's not splitting hairs when you consider the inherent weakness in the stats that claim to quantify how many runs a guy contributes with defense and baserunning. That doesn't change the fact that his contribution would essentially be the same regardless of what team he is on (in terms of the team itself, not stuff like park factors - I guess you could lump in a manager's impact on his baserunning game, but only a dumb manager would have a substantial negative impact on that). Yeah, I don't think you can say generally that a guy whose primary value is OF defense and baserunning has the same impact on every team. Maybe you can't also say that the Cubs don't need Bourn bc they need offense. But your reply was too much of a generalization.
  4. Didn't you just drop them? Bc tomorrow's the deadline. I can always make a trade and the other team can pick them up. That's what we did last year. Similar to teams announcing keepers here and then trading a non-kept player
  5. Ditto an exempt De Aza? Zach Britton?
  6. Hopefully it actually sticks. Though it's funny to hear the guy that sets Wisconsin's schedule complain about OOC SOS.
  7. Yes. Tiebreakers, esp when there are 3+ teams tied. My earlier post has the 7/31 order with ties noted. I think I also posted the end of season order with ties for the prospect draft.
  8. I agree on March 1. I think we run the prospect after, as we did last year. We need 12 rounds b/c some people trade away pics and need more than 10 rounds to get a full team. Also, some teams don't keep 10 guys.
  9. Louis Nix is the greatest athlete ever. His twitter is what Norm MacDonald's wishes it could be. "Hate when I eat the last bite and didn’t notice it was the last bite so I couldn’t mentally prepare myself and get any closure."
  10. Would make sense to have the order finalized soon.
  11. RT @PaulMyerberg: Ohio State sends out an advisory saying a turtle never bit Woody Hayes in the privates. No comment on whether Woody accepted the asst coach's offer
  12. Not surprised the Cubs would want to get a deal done now. Also not surprised he'd want to wait 1-2 years for his value to increase.
  13. That's a very old joke. The "assistant coach" is a blonde in the version I heard.
  14. Urbandale? The #1 WR is from Urbandale? He must have honed his skills working summers at living history farms.
  15. I suppose you're going to tell us that he grew up 30 miles from campus, loving Iowa St and always wanting to be a cyclone and the pics of him all over the internet with coeds and cash are just coincidence.
  16. Saban will just that "we are handling it internally" and that'll be it. He may be forced to sacrifice one of them, but they will be back on the field. They'll cut enough to get under 85.
  17. He's a fantastic recruiter in that he can sell and he's slimey enough to say anything he needs to. But let's not pretend Meyer is going coast to coast to land recruits. He specializes in letting peers identify recruits and then getting them to flip. Maybe he's just a great closer, maybe he would negative recruit his own mother, I don't know. But he's not saying anything groundbreaking or important. He just wants to sound important.
  18. Sure, but the Big Ten wont get that luxury unless the other schools improve. I'm not saying he's being altruistic here, but he's not wrong about the conferences strength vs. the SEC Is that news? Breaking: Urban Meyer thinks the big ten is not as good as the sec. Needs better players, coaches, and facilities.
  19. His point is that the sec reputation allows you to lose a game and still make the bcs title game. He wants the same luxury in the big ten and so he wants all the schools to improve so that his chances at a title are better. He could give a [expletive] what any big ten teams puts into facilities or coaching.
  20. So we're stamping out the use of hyperbole? I guess I don't understand what's being called out. Or maybe the purpose behind it. You want jersey to come in and admit that his post was an obvious exaggeration?
  21. It seems to me that the intentional use of ridiculous hyperbole is more of an attempt to deflect than calling it out when it occurs. How else is one supposed to use hyperbole? It's supposed to be an intentional and obvious exaggeration.
  22. He's not wrong. He's lapping the field in recruiting already, and the overall B1G recruiting is pretty awful Lapping the field? He's a new coach at one if the top historical programs coming off a 12-win season. And UM is just a few spots behind OSU. Plus, has he really recruited better than Tressel did most years? He landed a pretty puff gig. Let's see him land a top-10 class at Purdue and then run his mouth.
  23. Because goony said something obviously wrong and I used him as a counter example. You don't think Kershaw will be paid an exorbitant amount when he hits FA? That's not the point. He's on a team and providing great performance and he's not being paid an exorbitant amount. Goony said that was impossible. Why is this so hard to understand? He said "get" which means to most people "acquire." He didn't say no team has ever had a great player that wasn't paid an exorbitant amount.
  24. Eliminate noon games because high school kids don't like to wake up early? Thanks Urban.
  25. Because goony said something obviously wrong and I used him as a counter example. You don't think Kershaw will be paid an exorbitant amount when he hits FA? The Dodgers got a great player without paying an exorbitant amount of money, so obviously it is not true that you can not acquire a great player without paying an exorbitant amount of money. You can draft players that eventually become great players. I suppose if you think that's what jersey meant when he said "get," then I can maybe see why kershaw is relevant. Doesn't seem like a reasonable way to read his statement though.
