  1. I just heard this. WTH is that all about? Do they have nothing left after the Lopez twins are gone?
  2. what's that mean? I don't speak Mexican Spanish perhaps, Bob? Racist!! It means "Sit down, you ugly beeyotches"
  3. Are you saying that there's some mechanical thing he teaches that puts undue stress on a pitcher's arm? Curious because that's something I don't know much about. Edit: Don't know if they apply to this or not, but Dave Stewart and Eckersley (sp?) were both good for extended periods under Duncan, I think.
  4. i've talked to DirecTV about it and they say it's 100% on MLB, and they (DTV) are just following the rules given to them I did the same thing and got the same answer. The agent I talked to agreed to forward the complaint, but I doubt that will actually happen. I live in KY so the Reds are the only team affected by the blackouts (except the Saturday Fox stuff) and I don't give a crap about watching them anyway. The way it works for Reds fans is VERY stupid, however. The local FSN in Cincy doesn't carry all of the Reds games. As far as I know several of their games go un-televised in their local market. I looked at their schedule a while back and I think I counted five games this month that weren't scheduled to be shown in Cincy. So, MLB could market EI to Reds fans (and other small market fans as well I am sure) as a way to see all of their team's games since all of them are carried by the other team's TV network. Of course, they choose to black the games out instead. Makes absolutely no sense, IMO. i believe FSN-Pittsburgh only showed 110 Pirates games last year, meaning 52 couldn't be seen by anyone, EI or not Wouldn't you be able to see them on the other teams broadcast on EI? In that case, would the EI games be blacked out in Pittsburgh even though it wasn't being broadcast locally?
  5. So it looks like Dusty has been threatened by Reds management that if Cueto throws more than 100 pitches, he doesn't get to talk about fishing when answering questions any more. Amazingly, that's 2 straight games, this one a close game, where he pulled him before he got to 100.
  6. So it appears Dempster has some issues against lefties?
  7. On top of what Mojo said, Pie has shown that he needs a month or longer at each level he's gone to to figure it out and start hitting well. If you don't play him regularly now, it ends up being a self fulfilling prophecy that he won't succeed because he hasn't been given the opportunity he needs to do so. You end up potentially mortgaging the future for some small short term gains.
  8. Any idea why he left NO after just 1 year as HC? Seems odd to me that you would go to an asst. job after being a head coach for only a year and be considered a viable candidate for a pretty good job in a big time conference.
  9. That worked out pretty well for the Cards today too with all those runs they scored. What's that? They didn't score until the 9th when you could literally see the pee running down Valverde's leg? Color me shocked.
  10. Brilliant!!! That really made me laugh pretty hard.
  11. Decent, perhaps. The major obstacle to that at this point is that he's likely 9th in the pecking order for a starter this year, behind the current rotation and Lieber, Marshall and Gallagher. Basically, I don't see it happening this year, barring some huge transactions involving 3 of the guys above him. I say we send Marshall, Marquis, and Murton to Oakland for Harden.
  12. Can we just agree that Theriot more than likely wouldn't have gotten to the ball, Cedeno should have put it in his pocket, and it's debatable which one of them is the worse hitter?
  13. I know, I'm almost completely satisfied with every starting position player on this team. Cept CF and SS...and sometimes LF I really hope you meant LF.
  14. Yahoo is working pretty well. It is updating right about with the MLB audio of WGN.
  15. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AiY3JjKi7lpDYaTtKEty4jwRvLYF?slug=jp-blackouts040608&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Sounds like Bob Sanders may actually get to watch a few games now if he gets the EI package.
  16. I'm listening to Pat and Ron on MLB audio and you can absolutely hear the chant in the background. Awesome!!! Can we get Fuku to start instructing the rest of the Cobs on how to play this game?
  17. It should be considering: a) the sac fly should have been the 3rd out b) Tejada shouldn't have been at 3rd anyway if Soriano didn't pull a Braun in LF
  18. The truth lies somewhere between what Passan's article talks about and what the Cards homers will tell you (not looking at you wolf). I was at the rescheduled game using work tickets that people couldn't use because they already had other plans. You had to use your stub from the day before and I would bet that a lot of people just couldn't get down there or get their tickets to somebody else. I thought it was a decent crowd considering the circumstances and my wife (6 1/2 months pregnant) and I left during the top of the 8th when it started getting pretty chilly out and it was about 9:30 already. That said, i did enjoy the yahoo article calling out many of the clowns that represent "Cardinal Nation". I've had a few good baseball conversations with Cards fans at games and those people realize how blindly loyal "TBFIB" are regardless of what any of the players may do.
  19. Well done!!! He lost it on the 1st batter in the 6th.
  20. don't tell that to crazy illini fans, they'll think you're a ku alum. i said this exact same thing on the scout board, along with my reasoning (ie: ku being a top 5 program nationally, and one could argue, the most prestigious job in college basketball seeing as how the guy who invented the game used to occupy the position), and some guy said i was a delusional ku alum, i swear. so, i guess that 1. stating that self is not going to abandon ku, and 2. stating that ku is a top collegiate program makes me not only delusional, but a ku alum. this is why people hate UI fans on the internet, most of them are too young to drive or are too old to go to the bathroom by themselves. i wish we could just stop the hate. self is not going to leave kansas, kansas is not illinois and osu is not kansas, get over it. Aren't you thinking of Rupp at Kentucky? Pretty sure the guy who invented it was James Naismith, and then KU had the legendary Phog Allen.
  21. I can't believe how slow the MLB audio is. The Soto homer popped up on yahoo gamecast at the same time Pat called it.
