  1. why on earth would the bears game be blacked out in st. louis? I saw that on the506, its just a grey hole in the broadcast map. hell, even I get the Bears game this week. weird. Because the Rams have a game at 3:15 and they don't show another NFL game at the same time. Same thing happens in Chicago. It will be on Sunday ticket though. Yep, it only happens when they have a home game fortunately. One of the downsides to living in/near an NFL city is that I regularly only get 2 games in a week if the doubleheader is on the wrong channel that week.
  2. Will somewhere like Buffalo Wild Wings get the Bears game in the St. Louis area even though it's blacked out from other 3:00 games?
  3. Yeah, but Norv Turner coaches this team.
  4. Yeah, pretty sure the Feds need to step in and take this thing over before he ends up walking away scott free because of the Penn State blindness around there. Jesus. http://gma.yahoo.com/judge-set-no-bail-penn-state-sex-abuse-103722462.html
  5. There's a huge difference between one idiot making a dumb play and a pattern of dirty plays exhibited by the Lions. Throw in the reputation that Schwartz is beginning to develop after the way the Titans used to play and how the Lions do now and there's an enormous gap between those two conversations.
  6. There's been some rumbling down this way that he was a favorite after his interview, but yeah, I don't think any of the national guys saw that coming.
  7. Morales Career: .284 .336 .502 .838 And those numbers are pushed down a bit by his first season: .213 .273 .393 .666 If he's healthy, you could do a whole lot worse than that for Marmol. Not that this is really a possibility or anything, but it wouldn't be a bad move.
  8. It sounds like the Cards brass has serious doubts on how Oquendo would handle the media side of things. Just the rabble on local sports talk radio here and there, but that's something I've been hearing pretty regularly.
  9. At least Brennaman just correctly called that Fairley play dirty. Got one thing right today at least.
  10. Well, considering he's got like 5 or 6 inches and probably 20-30 ponds on him, I'm not sure that's really accurate. Especially since he, like a little bitch, grabbed him by the helmet and facemask to throw him down because he got very well blocked by a dude half his size.
  11. I'm 35 and the only other guy I remember is Eddie Murray.
  12. it was found in the alamo's basement =D> Ha! That took me a minute, but, yeah, what scarey said!
  13. I don't know if I can. Are there really any other major universities that have the kind of isolation that PSU does? What do you mean? PSU isn't close to the only university sitting well away from civilization. Well, that's part of it, but I was more referring to their tendency to not bring in outsiders. From what I've read, most everybody on campus has some sort of ties to the school, from sports personnel to professors. It just sounds like in general there's really a lot of groupthink being fostered because there's not any (or very little) outside influence in any part of the institution.

  15. I am a bit shocked by that actually. Pretty telling of the attitude there though.
  16. I'd trade Marmol for anything remotely good, so yes. Maybe the Angels sign Pujols/Fielder and we can send Marmol there for Morales.
  17. The most important uniform change to make is to require high socks at all times.
  18. I finally got through the grand jury thing this morning and I don't know if I've ever felt any more (choose your adjective: disgusted, angry, appalled, dumbfounded, grossed out, whatever) than I did after reading that. Just so ridiculous that people obviously blatantly ignored what was going on. I hope they do get to the complete bottom of the situation and send every last person who had any knowledge of what was going on to jail to get the treatment those kids did (or worse).
  19. These throws off the back foot are just amazing.
  20. Seriously, where the hell did this run blocking come from?
  21. That was brilliant if the punter doesn't throw the ball 3 yards short. I'll assume that he made the throw in practice pretty regularly or they wouldn't have run it.
  22. Knox would have been open on that Samuel was paying so little attention.
  23. That was my first thought. DFW is what, maybe a 2 hour flight from Chicago and Boston would be around 4 at least?
  24. This just occurred to me. I know the possibility of piggy backing Shark and Cashner has been brought up but I have a little bit of a different spin on it. How about you get one of them (I think I'd go with Shark) stretched out to start the season and have them start through maybe the All-Star break. Just before the break, you send the other guy down to Iowa for 3 weeks maybe to get him stretched out to start. Move the first guy to the pen, stick the second guy in the rotation. You've now had an opportunity to get them both stretched out a bit without overly taxing either one of them and haven't really given up anything in either the rotation or the pen other than the time guy #2 is in Iowa getting stretched out.
  25. I'm not sure where you're getting this, but he's still seen as a guy who can be a pretty good ML player. Yeah, he's got work to do, but that's why he's still in the minors. Between how young he was when drafted, illness, injury, and just the amount of time it takes to figure out how to play professional baseball, I have no idea why you're so down on the guy. Also, do you realize that guys who went to college are probably still mostly in the minors? As has been mentioned, he's been young for every single level he's been at in the minors, has had an adjustment period and then figured it out. Not to mention that fact that you're calling a first round draft pick a disappointment if he ends up as an average major league 3B? How many 1st round picks flame out before they get to the majors? Or even AA?
