  1. I really don't think that should be an issue. The whole "Cubs Way" manual that is being/has been created should have everybody preaching exactly the same thing top to bottom. I think having more guys just allows more individual attention for each player and time to work on things. Plus, another set of eyes to spot potential problems with mechanics can't be a bad thing.
  2. I often wonder how the people who are ready to cast Josh Vitters and Brett Jackson into the fiery depths of hell after having struggling through their first big league stints felt when we acquired Rizzo. Brett Jackson's struggles and Rizzo's 2011 struggles show some key differences. True, I also feel a lot differently about Vitters than I do Jackson. I really think Vitters will eventually figure it out and be a decent hitter at a minimum. Jackson on the other hand, at this point, I just hope he can make enough contact to not be awful.
  3. I was thinking the exact same thing about Keck, although the control issues make him a bit more of a wild card.
  4. Wisconsin will probably end up at 4-4 in the conference and 7-5 overall, yet has already won its division thanks to Penn State and Ohio State being ineligible. I know the feeling. Not than any team in the B1G is very good this year, but if Wisconsin goes to the Rose Bowl again it could get ugly against a pissed off Oregon team. Oregon won't be going to the Rose Bowl unless Stanford loses to UCLA this weekend.
  5. no, not really Very well explained. Thanks.
  6. The schools may choose the punishments, but the NCAA decides who they get handed out to in a completely haphazard, nonsensical manner.
  7. Is it me or does that seem like a massive overpay? Or has he been better than I think the last couple years?
  8. The problem with that is then you end up with some nobody faking a head injury to get the other team's superstar defender out of the game.
  9. Shooting arm? How would that affect you going forward? I would assume that could really mess your shot up. Yep, shooting arm. Not sure about recovery. I don't think labrum injuries are real common in basketball? Labrum tear won't affect the shot. That surgery only really affects external rotation, which is the biggest factor in how hard you can throw. If he rehabs it right, he'll be completely fine. Mine was torn about 90% and the only thing I couldn't do (without extreme pain anyway) was throw a baseball pass with the basketball. If he wasn't a senior, he could probably play with it if need be. If getting ready for next year is important to him, he needs to sit. It's a much shorter rehab now because they can scope it instead of having to open the shoulder up to fix it too. He could maybe still play and be ready for next year with surgery in March.
  10. I'm so tempted to go read it, but at the same time I know that if I do I'm just going to end up annoyed and losing that much more faith in humanity. I made it through 2 pages before I couldn't take the stupid anymore. There are actually a couple guys on there who are rational, but most of them are kind of like that YouTube kid who was raging against Edmonds when he signed with the Cubs.
  11. So we need to send Castillo to Camp Molina is what you're saying?
  12. I am now dumber after reading some of that. Good lord, the amount of just blind stupidity and complete disregard for anything resembling facts is amazing.
  13. Yep. Between the crappy play calling, sub-standard receiving corp (until this year), and awful O-line play thus far in his Bears career, all combined with the 1-5 record last year after he got hurt, yeah, I'd say he's done really damn well.
  14. And Baez. Even if he sticks at SS in the minors, it's not like he'll be pushing Castro off if it comes to that. That said, Villanueva projects to have an Ok bat and a very good glove. If he reaches that, that's a valuable player nowadays at 3B. So, a Bill Mueller type of guy?
  15. Total dick move, but I was amused: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/the-turnstile/lance-armstrong-just-happens-pose-next-tour-france-190124213.html;_ylt=AvpucxghwyP.taH5F7Bp_Fer9HQA;_ylu=X3oDMTIzaGF2MnZwBG1pdANIQ01PTCBvbiBhcnRpY2xlIHJpZ2h0IHJhaWwEcGtnA2lkLTI4MjgzNTkEcG9zAzIEc2VjA2hjbQR2ZXIDMTA-;_ylg=X3oDMTMwMTY0YTUwBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDZDA4MDBkNzgtYjFiYy0zMjY5LWJhMzktOWQxZmU4YmI3MmJkBHBzdGNhdANlbnRlcnRhaW5tZW50BHB0A3N0b3J5cGFnZQ--;_ylv=3
  16. Not to mention an 80 yard bomb that got called back because of an illegal formation penalty.
  17. They do. If you listen to the way the ref announced it, he said the illegal forward pass wasn't a "simple foul". Meaning the if it had been an illegal formation or something along those lines, they would have enforced both penalties and the Bears would have gotten 10 yards. I do, however, have a problem with their definition of a simple foul. Anything that only results in a 5 yard penalty, loss of down or not, should not offset a pretty brutal personal foul call.
  18. Looked like the old Urlacher on that hit on Foster on 2nd down. If he starts playing fast again, this defense is going to get even scarier. May need it if Jay is out for very long though.
  19. There's not even a remote guarantee that he'll put up a 10 WAR career, much less in 5 years, though. That might be generous for a "floor" projection.
  20. This is a statement of fact that you, or anybody else at this point, cannot possibly know to be true: It is a statement of fact, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who can know it to be true. Either you're trolling or you read that wrong. That was for the comment below it.
  21. I hate to do this, but: This is a reasonable opinion to have: This is a statement of fact that you, or anybody else at this point, cannot possibly know to be true: If they sign him for 5/$25 mil plus the $26 mil posting fee and he puts up even 2 WAR/year, it's basically a break even deal.
  22. Agreed. I'll be glad to get angsty over premium talents. But this guy's deal is that he might be an okay lefthanded starter and he might not be. Not exactly someone I'm going to bash them for not getting. Until I feel like bashing them later. You should make more posts like this where you blatantly embrace your flopping. :good:
  23. I think I'd be surprised if it goes much above $20 mil. Just not enough concrete info on this guy to determine where he'd fit in I don't think and even if you project him as a 3 at his ceiling, do you pay more than $20 to get him?
  24. Or, the Cubs got twice as many international FAs as any other team did. You do realize there are 29 other teams out there competing for resources right?
