  1. Chuck... you mind taking this off of sticky?
  2. Another one of my exempt players from last year's team gone. :bye: Exactly how I feel about Josh Johnson. Well he isn't exempt anymore. And I knew who it was I was joking with the J.J. Putz. True, he isn't. But, before the league crumbled, I had around 19 players who fit under the point cap/exemption total, and he was one of them. That league had no player limit in it, though. I lost a TON of guys. Some are still out there, but not many.
  3. Sorry. Didn't realize you might trade the pick. DO you have an offer out there, or are you just saying that that pick is available? i think i have an offer, but not sure yet.

  6. OOOH..OOOH, I KNOW!!! =D> Yeah, he won't last past this round unfortunately. Ummm, no. I'm just going to say it, because he's got the first pick, so it's not like anyone can do anything about it anyway. Jair Jurrjens. If he doesn't pick him, there's no way he lasts until his next pick anyway, so there's no harm in saying it.
  7. For the record, I like your roster right now. Clint (Sox) and Slainte also have solid rosters. I have several young guys who I hope are progressing toward their respective primes, and if they do, I like what I have. If they don't, or if they regress, it looks like another long year for me. If I get the player I would have drafted rather than Josh Johnson then I'll be content as I would have probably taken Josh Johnson if he was still on the board in this next round. If it's another pitcher with the initials J.J., that's not happening. I know who Nick's taking first, as I've tried to get that pick from him, but he is asking for WAAAAAYYYYY too much. It's like he doesn't get that it's really about a 9th rounder.

  9. Draft Order is set. Trade away.
  10. cbbryan... Can you take this off of "sticky" please? Thanks.

  15. Well, if you've made some fatal mistakes because of my miscommunication, all I can do is apologize. The rules are clear, and I don't know of anyone else who hasn't understood them, but it would appear that I am responsible for the miscommunication. Somehow, in the transition from the old league to this one, everyone lost an exemption, and I did not take that into account in my notes of exempt players. Of course, you're still fine, and the draft has not even happened yet, much less the trading that will occur in a given season. You have plenty of time to get your roster in the order that you want it in. In the future, this mistake won't happen. But, to be safe, always refer to the rules as they are written, because they are accurate. I still don't understand where you've heard me say that you don't begin to count exemptions until the year after you lose rookie eligibility.

  17. Nice pick.
  18. 2009 counts against their exempt status so technically you need to reduce those numbers by one. For example, Jon Lester went over the 50 IP mark in 2006. That means he was exempt for the 2007, 2008 & 2009 seasons. He will count against your cap for 2010. Not according to Hosak. I asked him before I took Matzusaka how many years he would have left (whether it was one or two) and he told me two because its the year after you lose rookie status that counts as year one. Lester has lost rookie status one season before Diasuke so he has 1 year left like I said. If I was told wrong than it ruins my whole draft as I took all of them based heavily on how many years they had left. Never have I said that it's the year after you lose rookie status that exemptions begin to count. There might have been a miscommunication in terms of how many seasons you will get to keep guys, but I'm certain I never said that a players clock begins to tick a year after he loses his rookie eligibility. For the record, Matsuzaka will be exempt this offseason, so you won't have to worry about him until following the 2010 season. That means you have him for 2009 and 2010, so that might be the miscommunication.
  19. The Keeper Point Limit has not been set yet, so there is no way to definitively say who you might or might not be able to keep. That said, you do have a solid core of exempt players.
  20. I owned both last year. Hawpe is just meh. But Johnson is a guy I was hoping would still be around for my next pick. Now watch Hawpe win Comeback Player of the Year.

  22. Wow, I didn't realize the Big 10 was being defamed in this conversation. Don't get me wrong, I hate Bammer more than anyone, and RedFlash is clearly not my favorite dude on here, but you seem to only show up when someone needs to cry about Big T1E1N bashing. I just didn't realize that this was one of those situations.
  23. Hey Hosak; How confident are you that Lane Kiffin can keep Brown motivated about playing for Tennessee? This is a younh man who would routinely "shut it down" while in HS after he reached his numbers. This a young man who would not stretch with his teammates and the only guy allowed around him is his handler. This is a young man who Miami refused to keep a scholly on the table for. MIAMI of all teams took their name out of the hat for Bryce Brown even after already landing his brother last yr. I mean Bryce Brown is a helluva talent, no question about it. If Kiffin and the coaching staff gets him to buy into playing for Tennessee instead of playing for himself, this is a major coup of Brown. But that is the major question, isn't it? IF you think Miami wouldn't reissue his LOI if Brown wanted to sign there, you are being naive. That isn't to say that Brown isn't a bit of a primadonna, because he is. However, some of what's being reported about him ("the only guy allowed around him is his handler", for example) is being overstated. I have a source who is somewhat close to Brown, and he'd tell you that the whole relationship with Butler is exaggerated and that Butler speaks out of turn often enough. Brown is not the head case that his relationship with Butler might suggest, though he is a head case, to be sure. And, honestly, I'm not all that concerned with Brown trying to big time anyone once he arrives on campus. One, this isn't Kansas high school football, and if he tries that crap at UT (or Oregon, Miami, or LSU for that matter) someone like Eric Berry will knock his face off in practice, and that "I'm bigger than the team" crap will stop immediately. Two, regardless of how talented he is, this is the SEC, and without teammates pulling their weight and doing their jobs for him, he won't win any rushing titles and won't be a lock for the NFL. FInally, this is his shot at the League. You don't get your shot at the NFL in high school, so you can be a douche to your teammates and coach. Try that mess in college, and he'll be tearing movie tickets in Wichita the rest of his life. Oku and Brown in the same backfield certainly has potential to be a soap opera. And it also has potential to be a Moreno/King type of backfield. I'm willing to wait and see. It HAS to be better than what I've endured the last 12 months.
  24. Just waiting on Lee and Chuck.
  25. Chuck, where are you dude?
