  1. Is this guy really worth the trouble? He better be incredibly awesome. The street agent is a pain, but Brown sounds like a Vol. Tonight, on an amateur call in show (VSPN), Brown said he could really see himself at UT, and that he would visit there next weekend (same weekend that 2010 QB TOdd Heaps is visiting). He will visit USC after, but sounded very positive for Tennessee. Brown would bump UT into about the 11th spot on Rivals Top 25 Team Rankings.
  2. Up to 17 on Rivals. Two things I am hearing... Condredge Holloway has said (off the record, of course) that Oku is no longer being recruited by UT. Bryce Brown is a HIGH priority to this staff right now. He's going to be a drama queen and high maintenance, but you make some exceptions for the top overall player in the class. Also, not sure if you've heard the drama behind why Marlon Brown chose UGA, but it's pretty sketchy. Also, I like Kiffin's confidence, but wish he'd stop trying to be the most hated man in the conference. Let Saban and Meyer keep that for themselves. Lane is picking a fight with Urban, and that might turn out ugly for him this year. Probably about as sketchy as what I'm hearing UT did with Orson Charles to get him to drop FSU, from what I'm hearing. Do tell. FTR, I'm not saying that UGA did anything sketchy at all. I'm saying that Brown's grandma and Brown are both saying that Orgeron screwed it up for UT. Apparently he called himself a "damned ol' coon-ass from Louisiana" in front of them, and the saintly grandma did not like that very much. Other rumors had Orgeron's breath smelling like whiskey. THe first one, I'll believe. The second, no way.
  3. Okay, now hearing from several people (including an inference by Kiffin himself) that Oku is still a priority and that we might expect some good news on him today. I hope he's worth the drama, if he indeed signs here. Also, Lance Thompson said this at one of the recruiting luncheons today: "If you're from Tennessee and want to go somewhere else, then go ahead. We'll beat your ass anyway." Not sure if I should :clapping: or  or even

  5. What does Charles project as? I think I've heard tight end, but he could be a wide receiver too, I think. Tight End, in the Dallas Clark/Jason Witten mold. With Brandon Warren being moved to WR, we could use a TE in this class. Thanks. I had heard Warren was going to move to WR, but I'm not sure I like it. He's a great mismatch there and we don't exactly have depth at TE (not the biggest fan of Luke Stocker, even though I like Aaron Douglas). I like our depth at WR - especially after adding Richardson and Rogers. WR depth is very nice, but I like Green far more than Rogers. UT was one of 2 schools to sign two out of Rivals Top 20 WR's. (Green and Richardson) Orgeron also made it sound like Teague will get a look on that side of the ball. If we sign Janzen, I don't see why they wouldn't try Teague on offense first. This DB class is excellent, if Janzen indeed signs here. Janzen, Myles, and Edwards are an excellent trio, and Oliver is nice depth. TE depth is a major issue, and there was talk (at least under Fulmer) that Douglas was being converted to a Tackle. Not sure that will still be the case, though.

  7. Yea, he said that during his press conference at 5:30. I think Oku could be considered a "surprise" at this point since he's not signed and is actually reportedly leaning toward Auburn. I'd love Oku and Jackson to round out this class. Even though we lost Brown, that would still be a great class. Janzen Jackson will sing with UT at 10 am EST tomorrow, according to Brent Hubbs. Another well connected source saying that Oku will sign with UT as well, and that Orson Charles is still a pretty good possibility. Jackson, Oku, and Charles vaults Tennessee easily into the Top 20, if not the Top 15. Will Jackson sign with us as well? That's awesome news, by the way. I thought we were already top 20 in rivals and maybe as high as 15. All three of those guys could push us near the top 10, which would be incredible, given the coaching change. If this is true, this is a fantastic class. 22 on Rivals, 21 on Scout, 16 on ESPN.

  9. Kiffin today on Nashville radio said that the Vols still had a couple guys out there, and that one would be a surprise. Oku Charles Janzen Jackson maybe Bryce Brown Those are all possibilities at this point. 3 would be surprises. Oku would not.
  10. tennessee wasn't a finalist, it was illinois and michigan. I think you're mistaken.
  11. Dew... There's more to come, I think. RIvals is reporting Janzen Jackson is waiting to sign, reportedly because UT is really in this one. Eddie Lacy looks to be headed to UT, and the states top prospect for 2010 (Jacquez Smith) commited to UT today.
  12. Tennessee's Rivals site has all but eliminated UT from Graves' list. TTech or Michigan, according to Volquest.
  13. HO-LEE CRAP. From what I've heard today, it's highly likely that FSU ends up taking Gary Brown (a 5* DL) from UF, and there's a better than average chance we pull Andre Debose from UF as well. And, despite his stance that it wouldn't be tomorrow, Orson Charles is rumored to be headed to FSU as well. I've also heard a rumor of another player who will be a shocker (of the good kind) flipping over to FSU, but I can't get a name from my people. I've also heard that Tennessee is going to have a MAMMOTH day tomorrow, and that LSU is going to lose out on the Randle sweepstakes (and the two aren't related). It also sounds like UF is going to have a day where someone pees in their cornflakes - and I couldn't be happier! If you were to just tell me that the Randle/Tennessee comments were related, this post would be absolutely perfect stuy. :D I hope you're right about the mammoth day for UT. I'm hearing UF's day might get worse as UT's gets better, as NuKeese Richardson is rumored to be headed to Rocky Top.
  14. I too have heard the battle of Teague is down to UT and Bama. Andrew Bone of TI (I believe) was adament when he said Alabama has and should pull off a "surprise recruit who is committed to another school." Some speculate the "surprise recruit" could be Teague, or it could be Greg Reid, or could be either Barkevarious Mingo, or even Kenny Bell. My guess is....with Ed Stinson committing to Bama today, you can eliminate Mingo. So the "surprise recruit" Bone is talking about could be Teague, Reid, or Bell. My money is Teague, but Bama has made up A LOT of ground on Reid in the last couple of weeks so it wouldn't surprise me it is Reid. Personally I think Bama/Tennessee are going to split in their battles for Myles/Teague. I think Bama gets Myles, and Teague goes UT. According to his high school coach, Teague is headed to UT. Won't know for sure until tomorrow.
  15. Bruce Pearl continues to own Billy Donovan. 6-1 career record. UT finally gets back on track with an impressive win over Florida.
  16. Really? Rivals and Scout have him as a 4-star running back. Also hearing that Marsalis Teague is a likely get for UT. Florida commit, but it's my understanding that this is a UT/Bama battle.
  17. Really? Rivals and Scout have him as a 4-star running back. Rivals lists him as an Athlete, and the 25th best Athlete, at that. I'm not saying he won't be good, but he was an afterthought in this class, as his true position in college is still undetermined. Most thought he'd be a DB at Tennessee, and with names like Myles Jr, and Jackson, and Mike Edwards all being possibilities, Thigpen just didn't seem to fit. I'm not saying he's not a good athlete. Just saying that those whose opinion is not based on star-gazing have not been entirely sold on him. He's a dime a dozen kind of guy. Of course, the list of those players who have gone on to star in college football is long and esteemed. I hope the kid goes somewhere he fits in well and is an all conference type player. (Honestly, I hope he comes to UT to prove Kiffin and Co wrong, and that he does so quite successfully.)
  18. This one is causing an uproar among most TN fans. Most people are angry that Thigpen has remained loyal to his UT commitment, and then a week before NSD, Kiffin tells him that he will honor his scholarship offer, but that he doesn't think he'll have much of a chance to compete for playing time in Knoxville. No one is convinced that he's going to be much of a player. It's the fact that this move seems a bit classless on the part of Kiffin and his staff. From what I understand, Thigpen has literally ZERO idea what he's going to do. Poor kid is in absolute scramble mode. From some UT fans perspective's, it would seem that Kiffin eaither a) really believes in his system, and knows what type players will work within it, or 2) has a great feeling about a handful of other guys (Marlon Brown, Darren Myles Jr, Janzen Jackson, etc...) or even has a silent commit or two following last weekend. Tennessee's visit list this week is stellar. Absolutely monster. Of course, no one *expects* to get many LOI's from this group, but people sure are *hoping* to.
  19. And he's back to Tennessee, where he had originally committed. A bit of a "meh" commitment, to me, but we'll take him. Word is that Weiss pulled his scholly after he visited UT. So, it's not like UT stole him, though it is entirely possible that ND felt they were losing him anyway, so pulling the scholly looks more like ND cut ties than Oliver.
  20. When will these be executed? By the February 28th deadline?
