  1. Phew, I thought you were gonna make me choose which one I'd rather have.
  2. Hell as long as I'm suggesting changes, I think soccer should be more like ice hockey where the players can sub at any time and return at any time. I think it would make the game much more interesting. Although then you'd have to do something different about the dives.
  3. What happens if you take a boot to a delicate region? You're going to be damaged enough to possibly leave the field, but 15 minutes? True true...I like the suggestion above me though. 5 mintues should be a more reasonable time I think. 15 minutes is a bit too harsh, that's a third of the half.
  4. I don't dislike Mariotti.
  5. Anybody actually watch Pagan? Did he look much slower than he did before? Part of what made him such an effective ballplayer was his blistering speed, if he's lost any more than a half-step I'm not sure how useful he'll be. :?
  6. When they come sprinting back on the field two minutes are they were rolling around on the ground for two minutes, give them a card. You don't see how impossible that is to enforce? You can't determine how hurt a player is and then do something as serious as card them for it. How about the player cannot come back onto the field for 15 minutes? That would discourage the diving and stretchers.
  7. Without hesitation I would say Jacque Jones. He's hot, hot, hot right now, which means we could get GOOD market value for him, and he's got a 3 year albatross contract that I think the Cubs would be glad to get rid off. He's playing well above what he should be right now, and it would be a perfect time to trade him before his hot streak ends.
  8. Shamelessly lifted from Bleed Cubbie Blue, I thought it would be interesting to see the results here. I'll post who I voted for and why in a following post. This is assuming you get market value for what this player is worth.
  9. Look for Neifi to bat against a fastball throwing lefty. Who knows, it worked last time.... Anyway. Prospects grim for this game. Have Prior on fantasy team but benching him for this one. I'll probably watch it anyway though.
  10. Jan Koller. The Czechs were very very overrated if the loss of one striker (albeit their best) was the sole reason why they couldn't get one point in their last 2 games. "It's a ripple effect you know? Our big guy goes down, and guys start trying to do more than they're capable of. We just gotta catch some breaks."
  11. They're just bluffing, trying to get the Yankees to up their ante? Yes, I've been drinking.
  12. Costa Rica and Serbia & Montenegro have already finished 0-3. Trinidad & Tobago and Iran have also finished with 1 point and a -4 GD. Croatia, Japan, Togo, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia are the only other teams are the only other teams that could finish worse than the US. So yes, we will be close to last and will for sure finish in the bottom quarter of the teams. :x :(
  13. Riiiiiighhht.......
  14. Why use him as a closer if you can use him as a starter? But I agree he could spend more time in the minors. I'd say let him start once or twice more though, to get more of a feel of the bigs. I could see this happening as well if Hendry thinks it's time to sell and that he's lost faith in Hill. Personally, I'm willing to give Hill 2 more starts in the MLB before we trade him. We need to trade him or bring him up though, because AAA obviously doesn't challenge him and he's really not learning anything there.
  15. Calling someone a cigarette?
  16. Ha! We got you beat! Thank you for existing. If the Pirates ever get good, I promise I won't hate them for it.
  17. Yeah, that's what I meant with my previous post. God I'll be 25....how freakin' old is that.
  18. What a disgusting game. Even had we gone up to the next round we woudn't have deserved it. This calls for an avatar change.
  19. Gutless choking dogs?
  20. Atlanta is an obvious one. They've had a different guy lead them in saves just about every year of their 14-year run atop the division. Other teams have won the WS with rookie closers (Jenks, FRod). Boston as well?
  21. Stand UP for the USA....Stand UP for the USA...Stand UP for the USA This is it lads, do or die!
  22. WOW, that's a fantastic line. I'm tempted to say send down Marmol...but we have to give him the chance that Hill had. In the meantime, Hill is just gonna have to continue putting up those sick, sick numbers.
  23. He's only thrown 91 ptiches.......why do that? Give him another inning at least. This is Carlos Zambrano not Greg Maddux. But he should definitely be done after this inning. He looked like he was suffering from dead arm earlier in the game, throwing lots of off-speed stuff, but he recovered later and he was throwing 96ish no problem. But yeah. After this inning. Sit him. He could use a rest.
